  • I take a packet of Emergen-C fizzy vitamin drink mix. Just vitamins / no caffeine; I get a little boost from the B vitamins in it but it won't keep me up all night.
  • You can feel free to add me as well. :) I'm on week 3 of Primal... hit a couple rocky patches but already loving how much better I feel.
  • Even after just a couple of weeks of Primal I'm noticing a difference. Tuesday night's Cheddar Bay Biscuits overload has me groggy, sore, terribly lethargic, and just generally icky. Not to mention bloated beyond belief. Going to cut my carbs down as low as I can the next couple of days to help get my body back on track.…
  • Just started a few weeks ago myself (doing primal) and I' m down about 10 lbs. First thing I've ever found that is helping me to improve my health, get rid of excess weight, and doesn't feel like I'm having to starve myself for results. There is a group for Paleo/Primal eaters; you should join. There's a lot of great…
  • I've been doing Primal for 2.5 weeks, and I'm down just shy of 10 lbs. But, I am starting with at least 100 lbs extra weight so I have a long way to go to get to optimal health. Plus I'm pretty sure 6 lbs was water weight, because it came off within two days. I also work with a personal trainer and take…
  • PitBullMom - I do understand where you're coming from. For those people that feel good on less calories, then less calories is the way to go. Under 1500 and I feel fairly famished at some point during the day, but then again I'm also carrying about 100 lbs or more extra weight than ideal. I figure once I shed some of this…
  • I stand corrected, apparently the easiest thing is to have a printer at home. I forgot that I was lacking a functioning printer when I made my little work around.
  • I did something similar for my personal trainer, and the easiest thing I found was to get a browser add on (In firefox mine is called Print Pages to PDF and I'm sure there's something similar for chrome and IE) and then run a report of my foods for the desired time period. Once the report came up I used the add on to print…
  • I know how you feel. For me the carb flu kicked in around day 5 and lasted about three days where I was very much less than 100%. Maybe you could incorporate some additional fruits to up your carbs without going back to wheat and grain production? For some people apples help reduce headaches; if my sister catches the…
  • You all rock. I think I managed to catch all of your pinterest boards and I'm now following them all. Sooooo many good recipe ideas, and a lot of Primal friendly baked ideas I never would have thought of! Got my next shopping trip/cooking day all planned out for two weeks of delicious primal goodness. :)
  • Welcome! I'm pretty new to primal, but so far I've found this to be a most excellent decision! As far as planning goes there are a lot of great primal/paleo recipes out there. Check out this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/727083-an-apple-a-day-keeps-the-weight-gain-at-bay A lot of the members here have…
  • I'm pretty new to primal, so I'm not entirely sure if this is 100% primal or not, but I take a cup of plain greek yogurt, half a cup of milk, and a packet of hidden valley ranch. With only using a TBS or two for a big salad it's only 17 calories and 2 carbs.
  • It may sound silly but I'm looking forward to a new mattress. I've promised myself a memory foam mattress when I get to my goal weight/size so I don't have to sleep in my old "fat divot" anymore. I figure that since I'll be making less of an impact on the mattress it'll be time to get a new one and start fresh. :)
  • Once upon a time I used to have a coworker that was a bigger girl (which I am also so it's not about that) that spends the summer wearing shorts that are well above the knee and shirts that do not always cover over her stomach. The clothes also looked fairly dirty and were definitely not appropriate for even a casual work…
  • Hmmm, I've been averaging 50-60g of carbs a day. Sad thing is I think I'm probably experiencing what people consider to be carb-flu, but the fuzziness and fatigue are somewhat normal to me. On the bright side if what I hear is true then I should have a good upswing of energy in my future. Considering what normal feels like…
  • I'm just a few days in, too. I experienced some headaches this weekend, but I can't sort out whether they are ragweed allergies or lack of carbs. How long did it take you to start feeling carb-flu symptoms?
  • As far as breakfasts go you might want to think about making egg & bacon muffin cups. Make them up in advance and keep them in the fridge. Hubby and you can both grab a couple out in the morning and heat them up; great breakfast on the go. I wouldn't worry about it too terribly much. He's an adult and if he wants to get…
  • I'm just starting out (day two), and I'm planning on adhering for as long as I can and then allow myself a social cheat of sushi with my sister. At this point, I'm not really telling people much about what I'm doing. I just tell them I'm back to healthy/clean eating and leave it at that. I find that a lot of people just…
  • What's involved in the Whole30? I'm just starting but I might be in, too, if it's what I think it is.
  • Thanks everyone for the support, advice, and taking a look at my diary/plan. I'm really excited to get this going, and I think with a little work initially I can get into a good rhythm. I'm a big fan of crock pots and batch cooking, so I'm working up a recipe list and corresponding grocery list so I can spend Saturday…
  • Check out this site: http://www.ringaroundtherosies.net/2012/02/freezer-cooking.html . She has great ideas for meals that you can buy the ingredients for, prep, and then freeze. Then you don't have to worry about the veggies going bad. Just pop them in a crock pot or I'm sure you could bake them. Keep an eye out on the…
  • It's awesome and I need to buy more! It's all peanut so it tastes real. I put it in protein shakes to change up the flavor and mix it with a little water to make a paste to eat with apples. I agree with leahandbella that the PB2 Chocolate is great, too. For anyone looking to order it you can order directly from the company…

  • I gotta agree with some of the others. You should focus on her achieving a goal of being healthy, not avoiding a punishment of "being fat". While I understand you want your child to know the consequences, you're setting up a perfect stage for a child that views overweight people as "bad". How is she going to react later on…
  •   Put up a ceiling fan in my living room and you'll be eating whatever you want for dinner (no lame sandwich) and a cheesecake to boot!
  • Well sh**, and here I thought I lived in a bit more progressive of a society. I don't need a man to hold every door open for me, just the one in front of me when my arms are full and the look on my face makes you wonder if I'm secretly trying telekinesis. And I will hold the door for the man walking in a store…
  • Why have I not heard of this before? That's perfect! That'll make the most perfect little gifts for my Mom and sister.
  • I know how you feel. There are some days where there is just so much else going on that the thought of having to cook, weigh, portion, or even put forth the effort to make a good conscious food decision just seems like the straw to break the camels back. Some days it seems like no big deal, but others (especially towards…
  • YES!! I knew I'd fit into this thread somewhere. . All of the above plus I've got a solid financial budget that goes straight through next year (but I'm not a nazi about it). I do generally smell nice, but I must credit my almost unlimited stores of fabric softener, shampoo, body wash, and fragrance spritzes for…
  • Is it possible for you to up your physical activity (such as doing weight training) rather than making too drastic of changes to your food intake? I know that for a lot of people nutrition is a area of concern, but if you've previously had trouble with an eating disorder it might be better for you to take a different…
  • My sister and I have been loving Mama Lupe Low Carb Tortillas. They taste good and toast up nicely; we've been using them for wraps or veggie heavy tacos. We can find them at a couple different grocery stores. I like doing lettuce wraps when I can, but when I really need a little more (or don't have big enough lettuce…
