  • My work had an ugly sweater contest too. And I couldn't find one in the thrift store either. I've been hearing of contests on radio stations and at workplaces. I even heard one person say she buys up sweaters after the holiday for next to nothing makes them even uglier and sells them for $30 a piece. Its becoming a phenom.…
  • Chatterbox, Stay in there. Remember Victory is made one choice at a time. Gma Anneliese
  • Tammy, You were one of my first MFP friends. I remember hoping to find someone I could identify with who would struggle along with me and pray with and for me. And there you were. Thank you so much. Hang in there, HE isn't finished with either one of us yet. Gma Anneliese
  • Thank you Deborah, I have you to thank for holding me together over the rough spots. Gma Anneliese
  • Thanks Jill, Its MFP'ers like you have kicked me in the rear when I needed it and held my hand when I thought I couldn't go on. You have been very encouraging. Gma Anneliese
  • What works: Not eating my excercise cals back. But being okay with it if I have a day when I'm starving and I need those extra cals. What also works is changing how I look at food. I don't see it as things "I can or can not have". I ask my self what fuels my body best? I have no desire for the office snacks that seem to be…
  • I can't say for sure what my starting weight was because I was too afraid/ashamed/scared to get on a scale. My best guestimate is 375. For purposes here I use 350 as starting weight. I started my journed on June 6, 2010. I am currently four pounds away from Onderland (almost 150 pounds). No surgery, meds, gymics. Pure hard…
  • Hi all, I am 47 and perimenopausal. No real traumatic symptoms yet. Mostly odd things that make me wonder if they are related. I will say that the lack of a regular TOM is making weight loss difficult. I notice that when I have a cycle I drop four to seven pounds the following week. With the lack of a cycle, plateaus are…
  • This looks delicious. But 246 calories? That is almost a third of my daily intake. Any ways to make is less caloric but keep the flavor?
  • :drinker: Sunday, August 26th. I weight at my daughters house today because I was there waiting out the hurricane. Her scale says I weigh 216.4. I like this very much. However, I ate horrible the last two days. The storm, convenience foods, no electricity, no routine, all added up to two really bad days. But its…
  • Its Sunday, weigh-in Day. I weight 219. Which means I met my goal. Since we have two weeks to go, I'm gonna change my goal to lose another five pounds in two weeks. That would put me at 214 by 9/11. I'm still not up to 3000 calories burned a week. So I'm gonna try harder this week. Hope everyone has a victorious…
  • I wish that I had Jesse's Girl Uptown Girl Billie Jean is not my lover
  • Its Sunday, weigh-in day. And finally I've gotten through the four week wall. Thanks Tammy for this challenge. I weigh 223 today. That's 3.5 less than last week at this time. And only four to go to my mini-goal for this challenge. Let's rock it!
  • SW 226.50 GW 219 My goals: Log in every day. Stay under my calories (this has been challenging lately). Up my exercise to 3000 calories burned a week. My first day, didn't go so well. First of all, I worked a ten hour day, then left work and drove six hours to MD. No time for exercise. Plus, I got dinner out. Not alot of…
  • Looking forward to this. I will weight in tomorrow. and post my starting weight and goals. We can do this!
  • Not only do you look fabulous, I love what you had to say about fueling your body better. I have seen people's diet logs and while they stay under their calorie count for the day, they definitely are not fueling their bodies better. They may lose weight, but their bodies still aren't getting the nutrients they need. Kudos…
  • Congratulations on the loss AND the graduations! You are not only beautiful but BRIGHT too! Good for you:drinker:
  • I stick with veggies and fruit mostly. A must-have for me is a chicken. I roast one every week. I cut it up and use it for my lunches throughout the week. I was doing lean lunchmeats and found the sodium was crazy high. So now, a chicken a week.
  • I took my favorite cd's and loaded them onto my computer. Then using itunes I created a playlist that I workout to. I have 52 minutes of music; several warm up songs, then high paced songs, then cool down songs. I created moves that I learned from other workouts over the years. I have to say, while I've switched it up a…
  • :blushing: How does the Harry Potter Challenge work? I don't know much about HP. (Everyone is posting how they didn't want to be in this house or the other and I don't know anything about the houses) But it sounds fun.
  • This sounds totally yummy and easy too. Thanks for sharing.
  • I have 200 to lose. I'm almost half way there.
  • I completely agree with Twooliver. Weight in once a week and get that sodium down. The MFP suggested sodium is higher than doctor recommended. I was having same trouble you were until I figured this out. I reduced sodium to below 1500 a day and it has made the difference. This is not an easy task. You have to eat super…
  • First of all, don't give up. Think long term. You are making healthy choices not just to see the number on the scale go down but to fuel your body better. Second, Sodium, sodium sodium. I didn't think this was an issue until I found out the recommended amount on MFP is almost double the recommended amount by physicians.…
  • I haven't had a cookie in over eight months. I'll have to give these a try. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
  • I perfer to excercise before eating. I feel like my body is concentrating on burning fat, not digesting food. Plus, when I excercise, I often don't feel hungry. So I eat less. Also, I don't like the feeling of the food moving around when I'm excercising. I have read a post on here, that went into great detail about the…
  • Any chance you could sweetly ask your mom not to buy the Lindt chocolate. (by the way, I wasn't craving any until you mentioned the Lindt) Or maybe, you could ask her to not buy the Large one, but one small one. You could do without chocs from now until then and then indulge in the one small one as a well deserved…
  • My mental voice has less to say than yours. It more or less whines, "It's toooooo hard!" What do I do to shut it up? I memorize Bible verses and throw them at it. One of my favorites is from Romans 12, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." My paraphrase, "stop eating out…
  • I don't own a Wii and have no idea at all if they would be a worthwhile investment. I am curious what you will find out from others.
  • The MFP video game thing is funny. I never thought of it that way.
