  • Have you talked to a doctor about any potential medical conditions that might be keeping you under weight?
  • I tried the 7 day cleanse once, and lost a few pounds of water weight right away, but I can't recommend the program at all. The shakes are *okay* when you drink them right away, but if you let them sit for more than 10 minutes, they get foamy and undrinkable, which worries me. Do *NOT* do the cleanse. holy crap. I tried it…

  • I haven't tried it for chicken salad, but I do it for tuna salad, and I think it turns out great-- especially with a bit of lemon-pepper flavor. I'm in major need of a protein fix today, but my husband cringed when I suggested that I want tuna salad tonight. Maybe he'll be more into the idea of chicken salad.
  • I log it as Aerobics - High Impact, but I use a HRM to estimate the calories. Last night, I tracked it for an hour with very little downtime between songs and I was burning about 9 calories per minute. I just started to clear Orion.78 on heavy last week. When I did it, I collapsed and yelled out "I DID IT!" so loud that my…
  • I would never call a HRM a waste of money if you're using it to track your heart rate to make sure that you're staying your safe zone-- especially if you're doing intense workouts. They are called heart rate monitors and not calorie burn calculators for a reason!
  • A heart rate monitor is a really good idea for Insanity, since the goal of HIIT is to get your heart rate up, and then let it come back down a bit before you go back up. Shaun T actually tells you to check your heart rate at water breaks to make sure you're not going TOO hard. So absolutely monitor it to make sure you're…
  • People assuming that when you count your calories that it means you're on a very low calorie diet. When the difference between losing weight and maintaining can be as small as 250 calories a day, tracking can be the best way to do that safely. Just because I write down what I'm putting into my mouth doesn't mean I'm…
  • I stopped reading the machine vs. free weights argument after the second page... It's all awful. When you are starting out, do what you feel comfortable doing. If you are comfortable on the machines, and the thought of freeweights scares you to the point of not wanting to go to the gym, then do the machines until you work…
  • I'm getting married on November 14th in San Francisco. Just bought my dress, but it's slightly too tight. I'm hoping to lose at least 5lbs by my fitting on October 8th so I don't have to get it altered at all. From the front, it looks like it fits me perfectly, but I have a bit of back fat spilling over. Even though I know…
  • My fiancee and I went shopping for a new pair of pants for me last night. I think it frustrates him more than it frustrates me that I have to try on both size 12 and 14 (and it blows his mind that odd numbers are juniors sizes). I nearly cried when I found a fabulous pair of Lucky Brand jeans for $40, but they only had…
  • I can't remember anyone specifically giving me grief about my decision to lose weight. But There are plenty of people who have opinions on how I'm going about it. - I've been told to not count my calories. I guess she thought that counting = dangerous restriction? I've never starved myself. Counting calories isn't about…
  • I've been suffering from insomnia since I was a little kid. Sometimes, working out helps, sometimes it doesn't. Lately, I've been using a white-noise machine (aka: my floor fan... I will have to find something else when winter gets here), and Benadryl at night to control my office dust allergies. Valerian root tea also…
  • I haven't done T25 yet, since I'm in the middle of Insanity, but I have done p90x. Personally, I prefer Insanity and Shaun T. over p90x and Tony Horton. Shaun T. is awesome, and the fact that his workouts don't require extra equipment (ignoring Asylum), is great for people who don't want to worry about having 3 different…
  • most people do "high intensity interval training" It's also suggested to get a great rate monitor to help calculate the burn :) good luck with the program! it's a lot of fun
  • Feels like beating a dead horse, but please stop paying attention to the calorie burns on Pinterest postings. Everyone burns calories at a different rate. This might burn 100 calories for someone who is overweight and hasn't worked out in years. but for someone who is in decent shape (even if they're still overweight),…
  • First off, congratulations on your weight loss! I hope this comes off as sounding clinical, and not offensive... A lot of people who are morbidly overweight tend to lose a huge amount right off the bat because of shedding water weight, and having a huge excess of fat to pull from. Also, the larger the body, the greater the…
  • To me, it's about being consistent about whether you count it. If you have your activity level set at sedentary, and you do heavy cleaning 3-4 times a week-- the kind that leaves you panting and taking breaks from all the scrubbing and walking back and forth throughout your house-- then count it. But if you set your…
  • If it's for your own self esteem, and you feel that your confidence will be what attracts guys, and not just the bigger boobs... then go for it. But as a naturally busty girl, I can say that I *really* wish that my boobs would shrink. I've lost 17lbs, and none of that has been from my chest, so I'm still a 36DD. It's so…
  • I'm going to echo the people who say that eating it yourself is wasteful also. You're either throwing it into the trash, or throwing it into your body fat. One is more beneficial to your personal health.
  • I like Orowheat Double Fiber. I don't usually like sandwich-sliced bread, but I like this one. Calories 70 Total Fat 2 g Sodium 130 mg Total Carbs 18 g Dietary Fiber 5 g Protein 4 g
  • I don't know how this post will be viewed, but please don't attack me if you don't agree with the way that I get to play DDR. There aren't any DDR machines left around me. They've all either been removed or replaced with the snazzier Pump it Up machines (which I hate... I've tried it, and I just don't care for the layout).…
  • I'm sorry. (I grew up in Stockton. Moved away when I was 19)
  • I'm eating right now. I got too lazy to cook dinner, so I made some maple & brown sugar instant oatmeal, and mixed in some pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice. So yummy. Basically, I eat when I'm hungry.
  • -People who merge into my blind spot while I have my blinker on. -People who speed up to get past me when I have my blinker on. -People who don't let other people merge during rush hour traffic. HELLO! The reason the traffic sucks is because people are ****S and don't let other people merge. -People who get into the right…
  • One time I posted a thread looking for new friends with similar goals, and at the bottom, I asked that if you DO send a request, please send a message along with it, so 1. I know we actually have the same goals, and 2. YOU ACTUALLY READ MY POST. I rejected about 20 friend requests that night because they didn't attach a…
  • The way I see it, even if you aren't being honest about what you're eating, your body is. 100 untracked calories every day is worth 10lbs a year.
  • But make sure you weigh yourself before and after you poop. If you lost weight on the toilet, then you know you caught it just in time.
  • I really hate any article that singles out certain exercises as useless or a waste of time. Do what you're motivated to do, and stop listening to the people who say that this or that is a waste of time. NO EXERCISE IS A WASTE OF TIME IF YOU'RE DOING IT. End of f***ing story.
