  • Sorry for seeing your post this late... To be honest, I don't feel comfortable giving you advice on intake and macro's. I can however point you to some fabulous threads that can help you decide which course to take and to make a plan for that. Take a look here:…
  • Good for you! And of course: congratulations :-)
  • I think my skills would be most beneficial when we get around to starting a new civilisation. You know, making wine, growing food stuffs, baking bread, canning, making soap, going from raw wool or other fibers to nice warm garments, some herb knowledge. Doesn't do any harm that I can also run and lift a bit ;-)
  • Smittenkitchen.com has a wonderful 3 ingredient salsa recipe.
  • Not Jo, but given his age I would go for the higher amount of surplus. Now is the time to make the most of his ability to add mass!
  • Jimmer is right that I also did this routine. As All Pro suggested I did the first cycle ABA BAB, then switched to ABAB ABAB. I really liked doing this routine, because it has room in it to do more then the main compound exercises. I stayed very close to the routine as described by All Pro.
  • Jimmer and myself are thinking along the same lines... I was about to suggest front squats as an accesory for the DL main lift as well
  • I've been sucking at cutting for months, but have somehow refound my motivation to see whats hiding under the rolls. I'm only just now under my post-bulk weight... :blushing:
  • For me, if my alarm is set for 5.25 am to go to the gym or for a run before work, I HAVE to make sure I'm in bed by 10.00 pm. Recently that has become a problem because besides my 32 hour/week job, 2 small children and the regular stuff involved with that, I'm trying to get my design business of the ground. Something had…
  • Hi there! Sorry for being so late in this conversation, real life is severely limiting my MFP forum time at the moment. All Pro did indeed state that API 1 could be modified to include DL instead of squats. I guess you should just try it. Personally I wouldn't alternate DL and squat cycles, because that would mess up the…
  • Yup, that is a large part in why bulking is so hard... :flowerforyou:
  • Generally speaking I would certainly aim at a balanced workout routine. If you're stronger at one type of exercise than another and don' t at least try to lessen the gap between them, the discrepancy can in time only become bigger. This in turn increases the chance of injury...
  • FAQ Q: Now that I've finished the first week of the workout #3, I have a question. When I start adding the optional exercises, I'm not sure how this works out. For example, add in deadlifts, do I do those for a cycle or two, drop those, add in calf raises for a while, etc. A: You don't have to drop anything that you…
  • I love you guys for sharing all your stories. When I can find the time this deadline period, I will add mine :flowerforyou:
  • If you are a beginner lifter you should do All Pro's Simple beginners routine as written. It is designed to be balanced and suitable for the beginner. Personally I don't find myself qualified to give feedback on your routine, especially because there are some medical issues involved. Perhaps discuss it with your physical…
  • <--- Still have my other side to finish, but can't decide whether I want it symmetrical or asymmetrical curling over my hip.
  • You're welcome! Good to hear that you're improving. Progress is key! :flowerforyou:
  • Welcome to the group Steph! :flowerforyou:
  • Looking good! :glasses:
  • Good to hear you get to start again MyIdaho :flowerforyou: How is it going now?
  • Good stuff Jimmer! I think the most important thing to remember is that when you get to that intermediate stage it is less about strictly following the routine and more about customizing it to suit your specific needs. :drinker:
  • As far as beginner weight lifting programs, All Pro's is among the best. Other good ones are starting strengths, stronglifts and New Rules of lifting. The quality of the program is not a question here. You should determine what exercises you can and can't do together with your DPT and make a customized program together.…
  • You mean this wasn't the full write up?!
  • I'm certainly cutting down, don't know yet how low though. i want to get rid of this belly roll and when I do I'll probably call it quits. Hope I see some abs this time... I've only gotten as far as some obliques showing.
  • I second this ^^^ so much! A few weeks ago when I was feeling down because all my lifts sucked, due to the transition to cutting again, I went and took a look to where I was last year with lifting. I've made so much progress that I was totally blown away. On some lifts I'm currently on more then double the weight from last…

  • This cut sucks.... I've now been at it for 4 weeks and am not seeing much result yet. Doesn't help of course that past 5 days I was on a skiing trip from work that included lots of apres ski time. Now I'm back at 1700 kcal net intake, including lifting, but excluding cardio. I'm really noticing the difference in intake…
  • This is also my approach... Working out during the day or in the evening just doesn't happen because of all the other things going on. i found that working out first thing in the morning when everyone else is still asleep also helps in reducing everyday stress: there is nobody around yammering. It's "me-time"!…
  • Guess I'll just keep using my trusted spreadsheet!
