I get like that too! I just try really hard to pay attention to my diary and remind myself that I've eaten my normal amounts and am fine. Every few months I usually end up caving but it's been much better with MFP.

I use the crystal deodorant from Super Supplements. It's a little bit more expensive but lasts a LONG time and its all natural.

From everything I have researched raw honey actually has a lower glycemic index than regular sugar, by quite a bit. O use honey because its natural, hardly processed (raw) and better for you.
