I am! I am almost done with the 3rd week of Alpha.

I'm here! Edmonton, AB :D Feel free to add me!

Fortunately my mother is supportive, but my father is the same as your mother. When I was a lot bigger, he'd always comment on how fat I was, and call me names like "piggy piggy". Now that I have lost a lot of weight, he asked my mom if I were starving myself, "does she have food in her home?" My mom obviously retorted,…

One thing I learnt in this journey to a healthier lifestyle is that... we are only human. Old habits are difficult to break, so instead of seeing what you did later on in the day as an indication that you failed overall, see it as progress. Afterall, you made good choices for the first half the day! You have to give…

I got mine from Costco. Love it. Just make sure that when you buy one, it has the Tare feature and you have the option to measure in g or oz :)

Ooh I'd be down for this. Just let me know weeks (or at least a week) in advance. hehe. :)

Actually, there is such a thing as an addiction to food. After all, like any addiction, eating triggers the pleasure sensors in your brain. Therefore, for some people who have an emotional relationship with food, and use it as a crutch, they do compulsively overeat just to make themselves feel better, of course in that…

Personally, weight loss itself is a struggle, and even a more difficult struggle as logging food, counting calories and exercise isn't really part of a regular person's lifestyle. So firstly there is that habit-making issue. And even then, life throws you all sorts of curveballs from every direction that often, whatever it…

Lol. Love that picture. Wheat is not an enemy, no food is, at least not in excess. I guess it can only be your enemy if you have sensitivity issues to it or Celiac Disease. Otherwise, it is no enemy.

Yes yes , they are my babies. If I could have my way, I'd live with many more.. but alas..

Well, hello everyone :D

I just compensate the lack of rice with more meat (ulam) =P It takes some time to get used to but eventually you'd get used to eating lesser and lesser rice daily. Of course, I give myself some days (mostly weekends when with family) where I eat rice to my hearts' content (I need these days to stay sane).

Lavender or lilac? :P

"What's your secret?!" Urgh. And after telling them that it is all dedication, healthy eating and exercise, they just raise their brows in disbelief.

Thanks SS, yeah, I missed that last part regarding him on his medication. Regardless though, there is a delicate balance that he has to maintain as another poster has said. But yes OP, do explain your situation to your physician :) All the best!
-
I would really urge you to refer to your physician's advice. Too much potassium in the blood, could actually affect the electrical conductivity of your heart which would inevitably cause it to weaken and then stop beating. (I could go further into this, lol but it basically is the electrical conductivity of the heart…

ditto! Also insulin does not make you gain weight. Its purpose is to store glucose in your blood (from the food you eat) into your muscles. Therefore, if you eat more than your body requires, insulin stores it in your muscles and liver as glycogen and in your fat cells as triglycerides. So if you put two and two together,…

Does she happen to be on the Dr. Bernstein Weight loss program? That is one weight loss program that uses them along with a really strict low calorie allowance (800-1000). There's really no scientific evidence that B12 triggers weight loss, it may however like another poster have said, boost energy levels if she was…

seriously, who comes up with these diets?

Oh god IT scared the bejeezus out of me

When I used to follow MFP's method, and my HRM was working, Yes I log exercise calories and yes I eat them back or at least 3/4 of it back, really depends how hungry I am. Now, I only log exercise as 1 calorie burns since my HRM died (lol) and I follow IPOARM, giving myself a range from 1680 - 2000 to eat daily. Which…

Definitely! My MFP friends list, and all these forum topics (even the entertaining ones) keep really motivated and are such a great source of awesome support !! :)

Aww, thanks for your kind words everyone :)

^^ yeah I agree. I just follow the military calculator, and use it to track my body fat loss throughout my journey. May not be accurate, but it is consistent and at least I have something to gauge if I have lost or not. :)

The best way to do it is to get a food scale and weigh it. I usually get Haas Avocados too and when I scan it, I get the servings in cups. So, I end up just typing "Haas Avocado" and go for the one with a weight i.e. 2/3 cup, cubes (100g). It is more accurate that way :)

I would love to grow taller lol.
