  • LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Insanity! Yes, if you're a total beginner or not used to plyometrics, jumping, or the go-go-go type workouts, you're probably not going to like it as much, but if you want to work HARD and have a blast doing it, you'll love it! :) I actually am just about to finish up my 60 days (a little longer,…
  • I'm starting up with my Challenge Group on June 4! Tried P90X many many times before, but have yet to stick to the full 90 days. Hopefully my group will keep me on track this time!
  • I've done it a few times, and I LOVE it! I actually blogged about my full 60 day adventure with it. http://melissagoodrichfitness.wordpress.com <--that's my blog if you want to read it. It's hard, but it's worth it. I only wish I had done better with my nutrition this time around!
  • If you're an ultimate beginner holding a lot of extra weight, I don't suggest it as a starting point. That's why you see people in "fairly good" shape in the infomercials...they already have a fairly strong fitness base. That being said, if you want to try it, and you have no problem with jumping, hardcore cardio, and a…
  • I have! I love the series, actually. It's not something I do every day...but it's a GREAT break from a routine. I'll usually put one of those in when I look at my scheduled cardio for the day and it's just NOT getting me excited. Shaun is a great motivator, as you probably already know, but those Rockin Body workouts are…
  • Hip Hop Abs and Rockin' Body. I LOVE those! When I just want to put in something and dance, they totally get me a great workout and it's so much fun!
  • I like to think of myself as "relatively fit," and I still am going nowhere near as hard as they go for as long as they go! But that's the beauty of it! You go as hard as YOU can go, for the length that YOU can go and you constantly push your OWN limits! I've done Insanity twice all the way through, and I still struggle!…
  • I'm a Turbo Jam/Kick/Fire junkie! No joke. Lost 60lbs with Turbo Jam, kept it off with Turbo Kick and now I'm losing my last 20 with TurboFire! It's dance, kickboxing, and just plain fun :)
  • I have done P90X in the past and had great results, and my boyfriend started today, and I can't wait to see his transformation! Just remember that no matter how hard it seems at times, you have to stick with it! If you can commit to the full 90 days, you'll be blown away :)
  • Denise Austin & Jillian Michaels. I love their concepts and their workouts...but their voices (and more specifically, Jillian's facial contortions...) just annoy me. I haven't picked up 30DS in over a year because of that!
  • EVERY pound I've lost since 2005 has been because of DVDs. I was 212lbs in 2005, and started with Turbo Jam, fell in love, and I've used nothing but DVDs ever since. :)
  • Blow by Ke$ha, anything by LMFAO, I'm Not Afraid by Eminem....a lot of pop/hip-hop stuff...which is really weird because it's not what I usually listen to on my own :)
  • Used it, loved it, currently doing a Chalean Extreme/TurboFire hybrid. Just remember to stick with it, focus, and LIFT HEAVY! The harder you push through discomfort and fear, the better results you'll see! :)
  • Outside the United Center in Chicago at a Blackhawks practice. :) Finding a man who's as passionate about the team as I am...it's pretty amazing ;) Haha.
  • Absolutely agree. She even says "Go Heavy or Go Home" in the program. You have to lift HEAVY for this program to be effective. If you go too light, you won't see any kind of results. I'm in the middle of a ChaLEAN Extreme/TurboFire hybrid, and my favorite days are the heavy lifting days!
  • LOVE all three! If you want to stay with the same style as Turbo Jam, definitely get the additional DVDs (I used the full Turbo Jam set to lose my first 40lbs.) If you're ready to step it up but keep with the "Turbo Jam Funkiness" go for TurboFire. I LOVE TurboFire, and if you already love Jam, you'll be golden. I can't…
  • That's the best feeling in the world! Getting home from work and realizing, "Hey, I'm already finished, and I can relax or work on something else for the evening!" I'm a 5:00-5:30ish workout person. Working from 8-5, it's a mental battle to get my workout in if I save it for when I come home. I mean, I usually will get it…
  • Nothing can really be 100% accurate, and I think if you accept that, then that's step one. But all I know is that my number on my HRM is SO DIFFERENT from the number MFP or any gym machine has ever given me. And since starting with my HRM, I've had much better progress with workouts, feel more motivated, and like that I…
  • That's pretty much my standard (I'm on the left)
  • Happens to the best of us! (Papa Johns last night, I know....) Each meal is a new meal, and every day is a new day! Get right back on that horse and it'll all be ok :)
  • Love it love it love it. Worth every penny.
  • The last time I timed myself on 1 mile....was high school, and I was in the 12:00 range. I ran a 5k the other day, and my pace averaged out to about a 9:45...so major improvement. I attribute it to my heavy cardio training and general fitness, but I've always been of the school of thought that the best way to improve…
  • Oh man, the weighted gloves are killer! I love them! The old school ones were a little heavier than the new ones, but even the newer, lighter ones really make a difference. They don't necessarily get my heart rate up (well, not a TON) but man do my arms feel like jello after I conquer a workout! There are still days when I…
  • Living in the suburbs, I don't really get to walk anywhere unless I feel like walking across an airport (I live next door to O'Hare....seriously!) I consider my "walking around at work" and stuff like that just part of my daily routine. It doesn't raise my heart rate enough for me to really consider it my exercise for the…
  • This. Yes. I couldn't have done Insanity without a really great pair of shoes. Also, I find that when I treat myself to a new pair of shoes for starting a new workout, I work harder...I'm a shoe girl, what can I say? :)
  • Well that's the beauty of having multiple workouts! :) Sometimes I get burnt out on Fire 55EZ too, just because in the schedule I felt like it was ALL THE TIME. But you know what, substituting it with 45, 45EZ, 30, whatever you were "more in the mood" to do...there's no harm in that. The fact is, you'll still be doing…
  • Not sure what kind of HRM you have or what your real intensity level is, but even when I "hardly try" and just go through the motions, with 45 minutes of Turbo Jam there's no way I don't crack 250 calories. I think your monitor may be a little whacked! I'm 5'5 and 145ish, and in 45 minutes of Turbo Jam I'm consistently…
  • I really enjoyed the first few. So much that I thought about getting certified to teach it. But rounds 6 and beyond...I just wasn't a fan of the choreography. I thought it was a little "vanilla" for my taste. And no one looks cool doing moves they don't enjoy! So I haven't done any of them past #7. But the first 3 or 4...I…
  • "Party Rock Anthem" - LMFAO "Blow" - Ke$ha "Hell Yeah" - Rev Theory "You're Going Down" - Sick Puppies "Not Afraid" - Eminem .....and so much more!
  • Myth. Do it when you have the three things you need: the time, the energy and the desire. Personally, do my workouts at 5am, and there's no way I would wake up at 4:00 just so I can eat before I work out and then let my food settle before cardio. So generally, I do mine on an empty stomach. However, days where 5am won't…
