  • I have a desk job and although I walk during lunch and on commute to office I have mine set as sedentary and then track my long walks on my Apple Watch and they get added in as exercise.
  • Like you if I'm feeling hungry just before bed, I'll just go to bed. I don't seem to have the problems some have with waking up during night feeling to hungry to sleep. Either I'm too tired to notice or just lucky. I do see your point that if you don't feel a bit hungry at some point during the day maybe you just don't…
  • I don't necessarily agree that you need to fight off hunger as this can sometime lead to low blood sugars and poor food choices later on. But I do think that some people early on confuse not being full as being hungry. Personally I like to eat when I'm hungry but not fighting it off so if I'm several hours from my next…
  • What I still don't understand is why I can make a ham salad sandwich for about 280 calories but if I go and buy one ready made in a shop they come in at 450+ calories - how much spread and fat are they putting in there :O
  • My mum use to cut the cartoons out of the paper every day and send them to me while I was at University :)
  • I find I get hungry before bed if we have had our evening meal earlier than normal so try not to eat that until I'm hungry. On the occasions when I'm too hungry to sleep I'll reach for a bowl of chopped up fruit. One thing I have realised though is that I can go to bed feeling a little bit hungry and survive until morning…
  • I use my Apple Watch as I always have it on and it does everything I need it to. If I didn't have Apple products I would probably go for the fitbit range unless I was thinking of getting into some serious running/cycling etc in which case I'd head over to Garmin.
  • Swindon here, feel free to add :)
  • I find my weight goes up and down on a day to day basis sometime staying high for a few days before dropping down again then rising again. Like a wave but the trend is downwards. I just like to think of it as my body just getting use to its new weight in a "oh we going down to that weight now I thought we were staying here…
  • I love the example of that the number of babies born in a town has a direct correlation to the number of Indian takeaways in that town. So we can obviously assume that a good curry helps pregnancy yeah LOL
  • I wouldn't try going above 8 cups unless you are losing a lot through sweat. 6 cups is probably sufficient for most and the rest will come from their food. Let your thirst and your urine be your guide. If it's straw coloured perfect anything darker or lighter and you need to either increase or decrease your intake.…
  • In the morning I add my breakfast, lunch, fruit etc for the day then I know where I am for tea in the evening. Find it just stops any unplanned snacking as I know I'm eating into the evening meals calories.
  • I'm in the same situation, started back up a couple of weeks ago with about 40lbs to lose. First week big results with a 8lbs loss and then last 5 days reasonable static. I'm not worried as I know that over time it will all even out and that the first week loss was just a readjustment to my new diet. If it hasn't changed…
  • From Swindon, get back to it after a couple of year where I let it go. Happy to be added :)
  • Fun and inappropriate sounds ... well fun and inappropriate so I'm in
  • Like soysos said water just passes straight through. I saw a programme where they gave one group of people a roast dinner and a glass of water and the others the same but blended it into a soup. They then scanned their stomachs an hour later and the soup group had a fuller stomach as the the body couldn't easily filter of…

  • Welcome - if you're like me and always hated the idea of logging calories - you'll love it. It's so easy, the database is so extensive and it just makes it a pleasure to do. Best of all once you know what you're putting in your mouth and work off it comes second nature to stay within your daily total.
  • A small amount of extra protein is good for your muscle recovery and growth. The formula I have seen is body weight in kg x 0.8g protein for normal adult but if you're doing strength / resistance training that can increase up to 1.5x Plus protein keeps you feeling full for longer so it has added bonus.

  • I think most of it is myth and legend. Certainly eating then going swimming straight away has no basis in fact. It's down to personally preference and what works for you. Personally I like to eat about an hour before a workout so I have the energy from the food and tend to have something little like a banana after. But…
  • The app is designed for you to eat any calories you burn. The calorie value is set based on the weight lose you have selected and no activity. If you consistently don't eat back your exercise calories you are getting far to few calories and your body will slow down your whole metabolism and go into a starvation mode. It's…
  • That's a pretty steady weight loss and as long as you carry on at that rate you'll be fine. Stick with it and look back in a few months time - the figures will look more impressive then.
  • Search for bosu ball on youtube there are loads of videos on there of different exercises. Or check out the official bosu website http://www.bosu.com
  • My tip is to always have a cup of water or bottle handy - if it's there I drink it - if it's not I just forget. Plus plain water gets a bit boring so I normally have a bit of sugar free cordial of some type in it, just a dash to take the edge of it. Love the idea of a cup of tea / coffee water chaser. I might try that…
  • I would try and go for a bigger breakfast - porridge with mixed nuts is my breakfast of choice. Sets you up for the day
  • Swindon :)
  • Got to agree with the guys on this one - it's attitude not appearence that matters. Having said that if you are comfortable in your body you dress and act more confidently. So there is no doubt that when you feel healthier you act healthier and come across better. I have never understood why woman are so hard on each other…
