Any Fitbit device will track steps and sync with MFP. You can even use a free Fitbit account to track steps with your phone. I think the variability of BODI workouts will determine the accuracy of calorie estimates moreso than which Fitbit device you wear.

If you worked for UPS, (in the hub, not so much as a driver) only the footwear would be an issue, for safety reasons. There was a dude in my facility who had the nickname "Pajama Dan" because he did, in fact, wear pajamas to work. Frequently. There are a whole spectrum of dress codes. Leggings were acceptable there, as…

Well, I mean, you could always unpair Google Fit from MFP...

@JackieWilson58: murphy92x was last active in July of 2017 - If she didn't update anyone in 2013, when this thread was current, she's not likely to come back and fill you in now.

As far as "good treadmills" go - the last time I was in the market, the Sole F80 was highly regarded and considered quite a good bargain for the price. I've had mine since 2015, and I trained for a couple marathons on it - I prefer the treadmill over the outdoors, so it's taken a lot of abuse. In the past couple of years,…

I wish my feet were bigger so I could choose from all the men's options! I have a collection of my favorite shoe, now discontinued, that is wide enough for my toes, without being so loose they fall off my heels. If and when I ever get through more of those, I'll be looking into more of the kids shoes. Boys feet tend to be…

It sounds like it's time to switch to maintenance. Did you have a plan for how to keep the weight off when you get to goal? Start practicing!

If you don't close your diary, it won't try to predict what you're going to weigh in five weeks. There's value in updating your weight within the app, too - but there's absolutely zero need to close your diary. Closing your diary for the day LITERALLY only affects whether or not you'll be offered a prediction.

If it feels like you're eating more than previously, but you're trying to lose some weight, my first thought is: Are you weighing your food or using measuring cups or just eyeballing portions? Have you also completely overhauled your diet from mostly "junk" to nothing but "clean" foods? Also, how are you estimating your…

Myfitnesspal has a guided system to set up your calorie goal. That's a pretty good place to start. Under "Settings" you should look for the option to "Update diet/fitness profile" and input your stats. Don't forget to eat back at least some of your exercise calories in addition to the base goal. If you're still losing…

Since you're a man, you should be eating at least 1500 bare minimum. And at 6 ft tall, that's still likely to be too low. It's your health and your heart that you're endangering, so it shouldn't matter to the rest of us - but some of us get nervous when we see people doing reckless things. The IF isn't the reckless part -…

Unless you weigh 500 lbs, 5 lbs per week fat loss is completely unrealistic. You might need to readjust your expectations. The less you weigh, the less weight you can safely lose in a week. 1% of your current weight is generally recognized as the high end of the range. 0.5% is sane and reasonable. At 250 lbs, a 5 lb loss…

Nutritional differences would be FACTS, rather than opinions. If you're looking to reduce carbs, it might be a useful substitution for you. FLAVOR is a opinion. I love cauliflower as a vegetable, but I am not open to the idea of making a pizza crust from it. I recognize your right to do what you want to your own food. My…

The way I see it, if they're still working there at this point, and the company has been dictating which mask to wear all this time, they'd have already sorted out any issues with who refuses to wear *that* type of mask. I'm thrilled to go about with my naked face again. Most of the people who continue to mask around here…

I don't understand what sort of credit you think steps earn, if not in the form of calories? I can't seem to figure out how to ask that without sounding snarky, but I am genuinely confused and curious.

All that is required for weight loss is a calorie deficit. I'm assuming that you've demonized chips and candy bars, even though they might fit in your calorie budget. I give you permission to eat the "junk" food. If I'm reading you wrong, it could just be that you haven't typed enough words to fully convey the issue that…

Synching steps always seems to be buggy - but if you're getting a calorie adjustment (even a negative one, if you have that turned on!) then the device is linked properly, even if the steps don't synch.

Last April, I won my workplace weight loss challenge with some questionable strategies. For the first weigh-in, I ate extra carbs and salty food, for maximum bloat, and I really needed to pee, but held it until the weight was "official" for the contest. The last few days, I went low-carb and fasted on the final day. I even…

It sounds like you think creating a caloric deficit and exercising needs to be hard - have you considered making smaller changes? Instead of thinking you need to spend an hour at the gym, just go for a quick walk around the block. Instead of cutting out all sugar and eating nothing but salads, just skip dessert. If you…

I think it's possible that you have multiplied by your weight in pounds rather than your weight in kilograms?

Ok, so this is a separate thing entirely - Even numbers are WOMENS jeans, while Odd numbers are JUNIORS or MISSES or something. They're 2 different sizing systems, and they don't play well together. So, if you're too big for that 8, but not so big you need the 10, you definitely can't just grab a 9. Try maybe an 11 or 13.…

I checked, and the comment I made after my link is showing up for me. Is it not visible to the rest of you?

So, are the deer spending lots of time indoors in the vicinity of sick people, or closer than 6 feet outdoors (obviously unmasked, duh) for greater than 15 minutes? I understand how caged minks get infected, but not so much the wild animals. If I were inclined to believe conspiracy theories, I'd believe the anti-hunting…

As much or as little as you'd like, I guess - Cardio isn't about weight loss. Pretty good nutrition could be at a surplus, you could gain - or exactly right for maintenance, or even a dangerously steep deficit. You need to figure out your own proper calorie balance for weight loss - not so much about eating kale and…

I run marathons, but if I run more than 4 times per week, I'm much more likely to develop an injury - so I take a rest day (or at least a RECOVERY day - where I just walk, instead of running) EVERY OTHER DAY!
-
Runkeeper syncs with MFP, is free, and keeps nice track of mileage. The calories reported are reasonable for my running, but I can't directly comment on whether it would report overinflated numbers for walking.

I came in to type that I lose less in a week than any single weight fluctuation during the week. I need a couple of months worth of data to be sure the trend line is going down. But at least that leaves me fairly confident that I'm *close to* maintenance, and at least not gaining uncontrollably!

I see you're aware you're quoting a 5 year old message - but if you click the username, you can get a page that includes some information about when the user was last active - in this case, October, 2018. I don't use Strava, but I would expect that it should send workouts over automatically, like RunKeeper (I use it as a…

I have a resting heart rate of roughly 60 beats per minute, and my estimated sedentary TDEE is 1512 calories, so that would be 3600 heartbeats per 63 calories, or 57.1 heartbeats per calorie at rest. (Edited because I re-checked the estimated sedentary TDEE, and it wasn't what I remembered...) While running, I have a heart…

Sounds like you've got the nutrition in better check than I did - carry on! If it changes, and you're running more miles than you can handle because Food Is Awesome, and More Is Better, consider if a static goal number is a better option. I have a love/hate thing about running. I'm in the middle of marathon training, and…
