  • I haven't canned much in the past couple of years. We don't eat enough jam to make it worth the effort. I do love homemade applesauce though. I use a chinois to make it like my grandma did and love that texture. I may need to get some apples and make a few quarts.
  • Oh and log your coffee if you drink it. It has a decent amount of potassium.
  • Someone mentioned pizza?
  • Oh, I've never seen salt and vinegar seasoning. I need to see if I can find it. Sounds awesome. I love salt and vinegar chips and a local burger place uses it on their hand cut fries. A whole ago I found some bagged popcorn that was kettle corn coated with cocoa powder. I loved it and have never been able to find it again.…
  • Maybe they were entering info for a hamburger, as in bun included. Though in that case calories seems too low. Who knows.
  • When you search for whole foods (meat, fruits, veggies ect.) Adding USDA to your search term brings up entries more likely to have potassium info included.
  • I've had the same problem. At least 4 times this month I've had the bike in the car headed to the trail when the thunderstorms rolled in. Once I was only a mile into my ride when it happened so I had to turn around. On the bright side, last week I wound up setting a personal speed record sprinting back to the car trying to…
  • I just wanted to point out that these numbers are for what the WHO calls free sugars, not total sugar. The WHO defines free sugars as The MFP sugar number includes both types of sugar so its not a good way to measure by this standard.
  • A serving can be however many ounces you want to eat and fits your calorie and macro goals. I believe for most generic diet plans they mean 3 to 4 ounces when they say "a serving" but I've yet to get a whole chicken breast in that range. Most are 5 or 6 at least, possibly much bigger. Get a scale and weigh it. Oh and most…
  • Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I thought about it, but my inner southern hostess says I should have something to offer for dessert. If I knew the couple better, I'd probably leave dessert off, but since this is my first time meeting them I feel the need to "be on my best behavior" as it were. I realize that's…
  • I realize this was three pages ago, but these cookies are awesome. Use the Quaker oats recipe from the lid of the canister, omit raisins and add dried cranberries and white chocolate chips. You're welcome.
  • Hot steamy showers can losen congestion. Are you familer with Kellymom? It's a great site for research based breastfeeding info. Here's their article on cold treatments compatible with breastfeeding. Disclaimer, their breastfeeding info is research based other info may not be. In other words, if they say it's safe while…
  • Ohhh, I ate those all the time in college. Now I'm craving them. Real mashed potatoes are a special occasion food for me, cause if I'm gonna eat them, I want them made with butter and whole milk and maybe some cheese.
  • I notice you didn't address any of the questions I asked.

  • Why did you stop eating meat? If it's a moral choice, no one but you can answer that. If it's for any other reason, I say eat the cheese steak. It's one day, one meal enjoy it.
  • Check Craig's list for bike trailers. There always seem to be several on there in my area for pretty cheap. Have you seen the front mount bike seats? You might be more comfortable with those.
  • I use it for this where its useful to be able to adjust amounts. Like I have my basic tacos as a meal. Shell, meat, cheese, lettuce etc. As a recipe I couldn't easily change the amount of the meat or toppings, but as a meal I can adjust as needed.
  • Stupid afternoon thunderstorms have kept me of the bike this week. I did manage to get a ride in today though. 19.4 miles in an hour and a half. That's fast for me.
  • Ya know, one of the things I've learned along the way is that even if I do go way over my calorie goal and it does hurt my weight loss, its not a major tradgey. So I meet my eventual goal a few days later than I might have otherwise, so what? It's not a race. There is no deadline. The really important thing is not to let…
  • As a loose estimate, I'd guess about 1 peach per cup assuming the large-ish peaches from the grocery store. For smaller farm peaches, add a couple extra. If it their you what size push to use if cut enough to fill that 2/3s to 3/4 up to leave room for the topping\crust.
  • Ohhh, this sounds awesome. I will be trying this. Thanks!
  • There actually a whole long Bento thread in the recipes section. I make bentos for my 2nd grader's school lunch. I use leftovers a lot. Most of our boxes came from Amazon. I was gonna link you to the thread, but MFP is not cooperating today.
  • Roasted Peaches with Ricotta I haven't made this yet, but it's on my list of things to try.
  • Thank you for bringing this important information to my attention! I will enjoy a chocolate chip cookie in your honor later today.
  • I'm gonna jump in this month. I'm going to aim for 160 miles. My daughter just started school so we're getting used to the new routine and I'm not sure how it's gonna go so we'll see. I'm hoping to get in 10-15 miles this afternoon while the kid is in gymnastics. The biking/ jogging path is very close to her gym so it…
  • I know right? I looked the Whole30 up a while ago and that jumped off the page at me? WTF does "psychologically unhealthy" even mean in that context?
  • I use the sauce from this Honey Sriancha Chicken recipe as a stir fry sauce a lot. It's kinda spicy as written so if you don't like that, reduce the Sriancha.
  • I not sure I quite understand what you're asking. Are you asking about eating back exercise calories? Or is the goal MFP gave you higher than you were eating before?
  • Thanks, its one of my very favorites. In fact I think I'm making some today with the tomatoes my FIL gave me from his garden. I like to make a mozzarella grilled cheese sandwich for dipping.
  • My 3 favorite soups are vegetarian. Roasted Tomato Pesto Soup 5 lbs tomatoes, cored and quartered 1 medium onion cut into largish chunks 6 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 cup olive oil Salt and Pepper Toss together and roast at @ 450 for 20 min or until very soft. Add the roasted tomato mixture to a pot with 2 cups water 2tsp…
