  • Hey Fellas, I have not checked in for the last couple of weeks and wanted to touch base. I have been generally eating well but have had a couple of cheat days. The bigger issue is working out. It hasn't happened. No excuses. I just didn't want it bad enough. I have a sleeve on my arm to relieve some tendonitis but I should…
  • Hey guys. I posted a gain last week. Up 0.6 pounds. I am not at Defcon yet but I can't get on track to save my life. And, what used ot be easy (getting in a good workout) seems like the hardest thing to do these days. The wife and I have a trip to Jamaica planned in about 4 months so I need to get back after it. I am very…
  • This week was a good week for me from a regiment standpoint. Also, I dropped 1.8 pounds from last week. This last week has really illustrated how sensitive my body is to sodium. My calories have been in check but I kept my sodium under 2,000 mg/day for the week. During the week before, not so much. My activity level was a…
  • HW is my "highest weight". About a year before I joined MFP, I weighed 192, which was my highest. I started watching my food intake more closely (but still not exercising really) and was 182 when I started on the site. So, I put in the HW as a reminder of how much a weighed at one time. Because being 8 biscuits away from…
  • I posted a gain this week. I gained 0.8 pounds. Well, you can only dance on the minefield for so long before you step on one. I am hitting the gym after work today and getting back after it. I've been slipping on working out and that needs to stop. So what have we learned today, people? Get your butt in the gym or suffer…
  • Hey Guys, My weight was unchanged from last week. . This week is going to be a tough one because I had family down over the weekend and yeah, some damage was done. I only weight myself once a week (every Friday) so I am in a little suspense about what that reading is going to look like (fingers crossed). Also, my right…
  • I was not 260 lbs or but 192 lbs on a 5'5" frame is not good. You can do this. Stay focused and don't let frustration or impatience set in and you can get to your goal. My philosophy is to try and take one positive step towards my goal everyday (it doesn't always work out that way though). Good luck!
  • Hey Guys. I recorded a loss this past Friday and I'll take it. Down 0.2 pounds last week. I had a decent week on my regiment but didn't work out like I wanted. This trend of not working out like I want has to stop. Work is slowing down which wil help. All that said, I had a pretty cool NSV this past weekend. The wife…
  • Nice going!! It's a great thing when you can see the dividends of your hard work. Keep it up!!
  • Hey Guys, I managed a 0.6 pound loss last week. I am not proud of it because I didn't workout. However, my diet has been solid which helped me to keep losing. And to update, I worked out Saturday and Sunday and seem to have gotten back on track. I also have a new exercise bike. I bought a more comfortable seat for and I'm…
  • Hey Fellas, I posted another loss this week, down by 0.8 pounds. I have been battling a sinus thing and only worked out once this week. I need to get back at it because I hate not working out. But, my diet has been pretty good. I went to my nutritionist last Saturday and she said that my body fat was down by 2% over 6…
  • Dale, I can see where not seeing the scale move would get you discouraged. You have to push through that feeling and know that if you keep working, results will follow. I am not an expert either but I will say this. I rarely eat back my exercise calories. I try and keep my caloric intake close to my pre-exercise target…
  • I had a decent loss this week but I'm not proud of it. Between traveling and a ridiculously hectic week at work, I didn't make it to the gym once in the last week. I stayed under my calories and managed a 0.8 pounds drop from last week. But it wasn't a "clean drop" because of the lack of exercise and the fact that, though…
  • I had a solid week. I made it to the gym 4 out of 7 days. I dropped 0.4 pounds. And, I'll take that. I am at 64% of my goal weight loss. I also had a NSV. My wife hugged me and said that she misses the playground. "The playground" is my cushy tummy. I can live with her missing that for another 10-20 years. Ha! My goal…
  • That is really great! Well done!
  • I grilled myself a ribeye steak (the size of a baseball mitt) and had some roasted cauliflower with it. Still remained under my calories even before my exercise was added in. It was a good day.
  • I actually gained 0.6 pounds since my last weigh-in. I am not concerned about it because I consistently keep my calories in check and I worked out 4 out of 7 days. However, I did go over my sodium EVERY DAY FOR THE LAST WEEK. I set my sodium to 2,000 mg per day and I was actually closer to 2,500 mg every day. So, I am…
  • ^This. I think that this is what you might need to do at this point. My weakness was chocolate and sweets. I have command over it now to the point where I can eat a little chocolate and not go crazy. I will say that what helps me is a) eating fruit when I would normally go for some sweets and b) having something sweet for…
  • ^ This. Some women can pull it off and some can't. And if a woman has swagger with it and is put-together, it works. Also, ANYBODY that is going to rock the bald look needs to have a nice head. If a person has an oddly shaped head, they need to keep hair on it for as long as they can. Ha!
  • Hey, Kevin. Nice post. The men in my family have what's called "the playground"...a big @ss stomach once they hit 35. At first, I resigned myself to it. I work in an office so I wasn't active. I looked in the mirror a while back and just said, "Hell no!!". So, the way i see it, I can get to how I want to look within a year…
  • P.S. I forgot to mention that my highest weight was 192 at the beginning of 2012 (I’m only 5’5”). I gradually started watching my diet and trying to be active every now and again. So, I got down to 182 by the time I started on MFP. Also, I usually eat a Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich for dessert. It's only 150 calories and…
  • Hey, Kevin. I like the idea. And actually, Friday is my weigh-in day as well. I will start my own post next MFP site. I am in my 10th week of being on MFP. My weight has gone like this: Week 1: 182 Week 5: 176.6 Week 10: 172.6 I had a bump up in weight in Week 8 but my weight has trended downward consistently. My…
  • Hi. You might want to look at your sodium intake too, which can contribute to weight loss not happening as it should. Even low sodium bacon has a good amount of sodium in it. Also, pizza and processed meats will have tons of sodium. Assuming that you are doing everything else right, this might be a factor. Good luck!
  • ^ What he said. Maybe try a stationary bike for a while too.
  • Nice job on the pounds lost! It might be your shoes but it also might be the kind of exercise you're doing. Are you doing cardio exercises that jar your knees?
  • Feel free to add me.
  • ^^ This. You should probably get a trainer or someone to show you the ropes if you are doing free weights. You don't want to work out with free weight while unknowingly using incorrect form. You won't get the results you want and you could hurt yourself.
  • I'd like to revise my picks. Ha!
  • I'll go with: 1) Broncos (Manning is on fire) 2) Packers (I'm not sold on the 49ers but I do like the change they made at QB) 3) Seahawks (Wilson is playing at a high level and the 'Hawks have a good defense) 4) Patriots (Brady is still, well, Brady)
