  • Apparently not enough as I'm hungry (again). :) Albacore tuna with a little mayo on a low carb wrap... and a banana.
  • Not only does my Chiro do active release, he does the graston method on my shoulder and hamstrings. It is painful but immediate relief. It breaks up scar tissue in the muscles from the build-tear cycle. My shoulder only needed two sessions then slow strengthening with certain exercises. I couldn't get past a 45 degree…
  • Started because I gained 25 pounds and my blood pressure soared. I felt terrible inside and out. I continue 2 years later because not only did I bring my BP down to amazing levels and lost the 25 lbs, I feel better at 45 (almost 46) than I've ever felt. I found kickboxing (who knew punching things would be so damn fun?!)…
  • You are inspirational. Go with your gut. If you feel good and know for your body that 160 will be optimal, go for it.
  • Not sure if you are still considering resistance bands or not Lisha_R but it's all I use. I have done some amazing things building my legs and arms with them. I used to lift free weights all the time and quite possibly enjoy this more. When I squat, I use 2 bands now to increase the pressure (purple/green; purple/yellow).…
  • Thanks, I will refigure going up to the higher level and see. I do have a desk job but some days walk a lot. I hope people have diaries open to see what they eat. I find trying to keep those fat grams in check it's difficult to eat that much food. I do know this is right for me because 2days into it I feel infinitely…
  • I set it at 3-5 hrs of moderate exercise and 145 as the goal.
  • Best.Post.Ever. Hands down. Congratulations on all fronts.
  • IMO, if you are eating below 1200 (quite honestly 1200 is too low anyway) you are eating way below your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate- What it takes to run your heart, lungs, brain etc.). For example, my BMR is 1500. If I eat below that, my body will take the EASIEST thing to convert to energy, which is muscle, and "eat" it…
  • I think we were typing the exact same thing at the exact same time. THIS.
  • I had a significant amount of fat that I was aiming at losing. I ate at a deficit, worked out 6 days a week/ 3 of those heavy resistance training, 3 boxing. After 10 weeks, I lost 5% BF and gained muscle. I ate appropriately 6 times a day (carb protein combo). I did not mean to gain muscle (and it was a gain, I had no…
  • The fact that you didn't say "I can't" when your knees hurt, you took spin class and then bought a bike instead of quitting is amazing. Most would give up. But to have lost such an amazing amount of weight in such a short time is just shy of being Herculean. Congratulations. This is the best success story yet.
  • Please add me to the group! I aim for my TDEE minus 20% which ends up about 1811 (I eat back most of my exercise calories but I still think I'm too low probably). I work out fairly intensely 6 days a week, 3 of those days are hard-core strength training with resistance bands. I was a weight lifting junkie in my previous…
  • I even wear two at a time. I HATE the bouncing. Ugh.
  • amost sounds like exercise induced asthma.
  • I find that it is a good 100-150 calories off on my input. I bought a used HRM off ebay to start tracking as I thought the burn was high. It was. Those numbers are there for a guide, as caloric burn is very individual based on your age, height, weight and current physical condition. I wish I could claim the calories burned…
  • Biofreeze the area. That always helps my muscle spasms. Lower the caloric goal and take it easy. Maybe renting a good easy yoga DVD for some stretching as it starts to feel better.
  • I loathe the first mile of any run I do. But I do it, and eventually enjoy it. Sometimes I loathe the group class I am taking but after I start, I get into it and enjoy it. There are days I hate exercise in general, but I do it because it is good for me. Eventually I snap out of it and love it. Like Tony Horton says "I…
  • I seriously just copied and pasted this to hang up for myself. It spoke to me more than reading 1,000 "success story" posts. OP, we sabotage ourselves more than we realize. In the end, he's right. It's all upstairs. The body can do it, the mind has to believe we can. Good luck, and know you can!
  • LOVE. Bump for more instpiration!
  • You look amazing. Congratulations. I gave up smoking too about 4 years ago (it finally stuck!) but I have yet to give up shots of Jack :)
  • Bump to keep track of these workouts!
  • What an amazing transformation! Keep up the hard work, it is paying off!
  • What an amazing transformation! Congrats. I know how hard P90X is!!
  • I either use Gold Standard Whey or MaxPro (from Max Muscle store). It isn't like drinking a milkshake but they do taste good in water. Hey, a squirt of Hershey's syrup sometimes works wonders in there, some days I add PB2 or Coconut oil. Anything to jazz it up.
  • I'm working with a sports nutritionist. He says when working out first thing in the morning you HAVE to have something in the tank to start your metabolic "engine" on or instead of burning fat, you will burn lean muscle mass as it's easier for the body to use. He has me do one scoop of protein powder with 5 oz or WATER…
  • I went from not running at all-ever, to using Hal Higdon's Half Marathon training to beginners and running my first half marathon at 36. I have run 6 of them all using his training programs. LOVE them. They work miracles in non-runners making us runners and actually enjoying it. Good luck, it's the perfect program.
  • This for sure! My HRM shows a good 150-200 calories LESS than MFP shows. FYI, my BMR is 1460 calories just to run my internal "system". If I ate only 1200 I would starve. I eat at TDEE -20% (1,811 calories NOT eating exercise calories back) and slowly lose- with strength training I'm losing more fat than actual weight…
  • This.... I wear two as I refuse to be a scary scene. I would buy the UnderArmour but I know I'm losing there first and I don't want to have to keep buying $57 bras each month. (I know, I'm cheap) so I wear two champions in the meantime. It works.

  • Seriously, I have a belly to lose and inner thigh fat....but the first place it leaves???? BOOBS. Now, I can easily stand to lose there but to have it go first and back fat second? Come on, it's some sick joke.
