  • I lost 60 lbs in a matter of 6 months last year. The scale hasn't hardly moved since than, but I have been walking, doing pilates and yoga and eating right for the past year. Even though the scale hasn't moved I've gone down more than a dress size. For me it is all about feeling great and looking healthy and toned. I try…
  • I'm also heading into week three, and it is not easy. I just have a few pounds to go and than I can start to hold it steady. I like those snack ideas....thank you.
  • Personally I get all the moves I need off of Pinterest. Doesn't cost anything and you can get everything you need.
  • It is hard to cook one meal for your family and you have to eat something else. I've been doing it for years. Though most of the time I cook healthy things and just take smaller portions. I'm finding week two a bit difficult, so I can just imagine how rough week three is going to be. It will probably be similar to a 7 day…
  • I have a paper white kindle and I love it. I don't have any problems with the back light. I didn't need a tablet/color type e-reader, it's perfect if all you want to do is read which is what I wanted.
  • Pinterest does have good idea's. I've lost 60 lbs and I don't go to the gym. I get up every morning at 4:30am and walk to the other side of my bedroom (free) I have a pilate ball, a pilate band bar and some DVD's and some hand weights. That's it, about $40 worth of stuff. I workout for about 40 minutes each morning. I also…
  • I'm in a book group so I'm reading my choice "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle".
  • I would never feel like working out at the end of the day, I always had excuses. I get up everyday at 4:30am and I have everything I need for a good workout in my house. No excuses anymore from me. Down 60 lbs, on weekends I do long walks during the day, and sometimes during the week I throw in something different. Your…
  • It really helps that I have a walking buddy that I really only see when we get together for our walks. We talk and walk and we forget how cold it is and just enjoy the day. If you have the right clothing the cold isn't that bad. So Iowa people just get outside and start walking.
  • I have a little note pad and jot things down during the day. At the end of the day I sit with my feet up and log all my food and activities on here. Tomorrow I will sit down and plan my meals and snacks out for week 2. Saturday I will go and do my shopping and food prepping for the next week.
  • I do my weekly weigh-in Saturday morning so I'll see what happens. The week one eating plan wasn't really that different from what I have been doing for the past year. After watching Dr. Oz the other day I thought I might watch my bodies reactions to other foods. (It wasn't the Shred show). I will remember to increase the…
  • You are doing great. I'll be prepping for week two tomorrow.
  • I agree with Leah, mine comes out to about 1200 per day.
  • Believe me the people at the gym are not mean High Schoolers, they are regular working adults who could care less about what YOU are doing. They want to get in do their thing and get out. I live near Des Moines also and I know an Iowan will not treat you badly.
  • I am 53 and over the past year I have lost 60 lbs. I have skin hanging on my neck, under arms and some on my upper legs. I work out plenty, walking and pilates and yoga, I have noticed my arm skin doesn't hang as much as it used to since I've been doing my strength stuff instead of just walking. So I would say it is…
  • A group has been started so everyone join up so we can do it together. Search under Shred: A Revolutionary Diet. See you there.
  • Way to speak up Iowa. We are trying to be the Healthiest State and it looks like this group is doing their best.
  • Hello Iowa people, I live in Newton. My challenge this year has been learning to love all the seasons and walking outside even when it's only 15 degrees. In this past year + I have lost 60 lbs and I'm working on my final 20. Let's all help each other reach our goals.
  • I'm in.. I started on Saturday.
  • I'm in Newton, and I'm on my last 20 lbs after getting rid of 60 over the past 1 1/2 years. We can motivate each other.
  • I'm nearing my goal and I'm always happy to encourage others to live their best lives possible. I also would love to add to my friends.
  • I was with WW for the past year and a half. The scale hasn't moved for about 6 months and I hated paying money for nothing. This site is great, I'm working on my last 20 after losing 60.
  • Thank you for the link.. there was a lot of good info in there. I feel this site will keep me on track.
  • The "Shred" program I'm doing was on Dr. Oz this week, it was developed by Dr. Ian M. Smith. 6 weeks and each week you change up your eating so that your motabolism gets kicked into gear again. I've been eating great but the scale just won't go down. Don't get me wrong I am thrilled I have kept the weight off for these 6…
  • Like I said earlier sometimes it takes someone you love to give you a kick in the butt to get you moving. It worked for me too.
  • A year and a half ago my husband asked me to take a look at myself and decide if I was happy with what I saw, I wasn't. At 255 lbs and nearly 52 years old I needed to get a grip. I agree with the others that you have to do it for you, but sometimes it takes someone else to give you a kick in the butt to get you moving in…
