  • The only bad thing I have found about artificial sweeteners (well acesulfame potassium and sucralose) is what I have found in my research in groundwater modeling. They show up in our groundwater and surface waters. They are a good source of human waste contamination! Yuck, I can't complain though I am part of the problem…
  • Yes the last 10 pounds can take a while to lose. I went from 260 to 200 in a short period, from 200 to 185 in about 6 months and it's taken me a year to get from 185 to 173. My goal is 165. Could I do it faster? Probably. Just have a reasonable weekly deficit and it will come off. When I hit 185 I stopped being as vigilant…
  • Sounds like it would be super thick! Add some peanut butter and I'd be in heaven.
  • I don't have these issues but have a few close people in my life that do. I recommend water aerobics. The low impact and extra support might help.
  • I think it tastes great! I don't use it for sandwiches or such but I do add it to shakes and it gives it that peanut butter flavor with out the calories. I usually try to fit the real thing into my goals though.

  • Just don't drink out of a lead cup and you should be fine! Your body does the detoxing just fine!

  • I have the Fitbit Aria scale as well and it is very consistent for myself. It is also within 3% of other methods. Last time at the gym I got 15.7% Fitbit this morning was 17.2%. Close enough for me!
  • Mine is: 30g of Dairy State Whey (flavorless) 30g of EAS protein powder 100g Strawberries Greek Yogurt (1 serving forget weight off the top of my head) vanilla 15-20g PB2 Ice Vanilla almond milk I'll adjust amounts +/- depending on how many calories I want for the day.
  • There will be other runs, what Is important is that you let yourself heal. I had to bow out of a 50 miler last year. Personally I would run more then 2-3 days per week. I am a strong supporter of the run more but easier method. It has worked very well for myself.
  • During marathon or ultra marathon training I find that the use of compression helps my recovery. I don't have any actual data to back this up but just how I feel. I have done both with and with out compression. I don't use compression on shorter runs but for anything longer then 10 miles I will use them. Often during the…

  • This is the only spot where I'll estimate. I am losing weight and maintaining as I want to so it works for me YMMV. This is where I'll do quick calories 25, 50, 100. Something to account for the food that I ate.
  • Great analogy there. I do the same. I was out on business on Thursday in a different part of the country with a meeting cancelled Friday morning. I decided that I would have a few pints and sample the local micro brews. My advice is to enjoy yourself, don't go to crazy and work it off the next day or so. I wound in…
  • A nice long trail run works for me. No headphones, just myself and nature.
  • http://allrecipes.com/recipe/make-ahead-vegetarian-moroccan-stew/ I always have frozen meals of this. I just use sweet potatoes. Sometimes I put lamb meat in it. It makes HUGE batch I usually get about 8-10 meals out of it.
  • There are times that I don't log stuff, but they are few between. Friday night was a good example. I went to a wine and cheese event. I ate too much, and had some wine. I have no idea of the calories, and I'm not going to guess because it would be way off. You know what I'm not going to fret it, I had a great time and I…
  • For breakfast: Eggs, omelets with veggies, or scrambled with veggies, turkey bacon (real bacon if calories allow!), cottage cheese with fruit, oatmeal with a bit of brown sugar and fruit, or what I had this morning some cereal with milk, yogurt and a scoop of protein powder all mixed together - awesome!. Lunch: Sandwich -…
  • I tried many times to quit smoking and came to a point where I realized that I needed professional help to do it. I used Chantix and it worked for me. I quit April 2nd 2012 and have not had one puff of a cigarette since then. There are side effects to this drug, and it can be expensive with out good insurance. It worked…
  • Congratulations! That has to feel great.
  • Why? It doesn't look like the recipe is saying bread is bad, just trying something new. It looks fantastic!
  • I just did. While I will agree with what has been state that you have to consume large quantities of water for it to be harmful, it can be and has been. I will say it again. It's called water potential. If you drink water devoid of any ions the ions that are in your body will try to reach equilibrium with the incoming…
  • But for the record it's Dr Pepper not Dr. Pepper! Blasphemy!
  • Now I know I've made good choices! Dr Pepper is one of the few non diet sodas I will enjoy!
  • Water potential... Yes there is proof. Advanced degree in water chemistry. Wow, I mean just wow.
  • Because what you are seeing is mostly calcium and magnesium deposits. Other trace minerals too. Once they precipitate out they are hard to remove. In solution they will pass right through you.
  • I generally don't eat after 8 or so. In bed at 10. Otherwise I often feel bloated for my early AM run. That's the only reason for me. The only reason it works for me is because It helps me stay within my caloric goal for the day.
  • Yes, I love running so I go out and run on my birthday! Last year I was fortunate enough to have a race on my birthday. People always say but it's only once a year for special occasions, which is true, but there are lots of special occasions; your birthday, my birthday, valentines day, fourth of July, Thanksgiving,…
  • I'm a wimp for anything below 20F. I feel your pain for a 13 miler on the treadmill! There should be a support group or something for survivors of 13+ mile runs on the treadmill.
  • I love running in the rain. Cold rain, warm rain feels great. I usually just take my shirt off and embrace the awesomeness of it.
