Probably best to stick to spirits rather than beer or wine etc.
JD and diet Coke a good option :-)

    as madcat suggested, or:

vodka and diet coke (56 calories for a single shot)

rum and diet coke (56 calories)

gin and slimline tonic (56 calories)

wine spritzer (96 calories, but more volume than the above)

beck's blue (39 calories per bottle; it's alcohol free so that might help if you tend to overindulge on food when you've had a few drinks)

If you prefer fruity type cocktails that Cascade Ice zero calorie sparkling water stuff is pretty decent with vodka and comes in a bunch of flavors to choose from. I like the strawberry lemonade flavor with vodka, a lot. And it's super cheap, under 70¢ for a 17-oz bottle at a local grocery store chain.

I tend to just go for the hard stuff on rocks. I might be high cal, but you can sip a good whisky for an hour or so!

Someone posted this site a while ago, and while I drink sparingly, it looks like a good tool!

At the moment i'm liking Cherry Vodka (around 60 cals per shot).
You can drink it with Ice or sometimes i have it with Low Cal (5 cal) Lemonade.

I would opt for something like vodka, soda & lime
But after a few of those I'd get led astray and have shots and cocktails.
    Have fun!

Why do you need to drink to have a good time?

OP never said she needed to drink, she said she planned to drink.

If she had posted she was going to a steakhouse, was planning to have a steak, and wanted advice on the best cut of steak for her goals, would you point out she didn't need a steak?

    Sometimes adults choose to drink.

    Great analogy there.

I do the same. I was out on business on Thursday in a different part of the country with a meeting cancelled Friday morning. I decided that I would have a few pints and sample the local micro brews.

My advice is to enjoy yourself, don't go to crazy and work it off the next day or so. I wound in addition to my exercise going to a park, the zoo and a museum. Lot's of additional movement.
