  • The Alta is a good little device. I just upgraded from the Charge to the Charge 2, which is just a tiny step up from the Alta. The Blaze and Surge have GPS too, but as I'm an indoor exerciser, that wouldn't really be anything I'd pay extra for, plus I like the smaller size.

  • As others have said, the "fitbit burn" noted on Fitbit starts accumulating the moment midnight passes, so you'll have burned calories as soon as you wake up. You have, just by sleeping. Even on non-exercise days you'll likely burn about 2000 calories (depends on your weight and such) by the end of the day.

I don't stress (or get excited) about daily changes, but watch the trends, and I have an "official" weigh-in once a week on Fridays.
