I'm quite active, but keep my MFP listed as sedentary ... it keeps me on track seeing how many calories I should consume if I don't move, and then how that goes up some depending on my activity and exercise (I have a Fitbit linked, so it comes across over automatically). It all works out in the end ... but you are correct,…

I'm perfectly happy with the Charge2 ... I know some of the others have additional bells and whistles, but they are also big and bulky. What didn't you like about the Alta that you are wanting to upgrade?

... while there isn't a big payout, you can get $$ for steps (and other healthy activities) with Achievement ... no risk, you don't have to pay out anything. ;) http://tinyurl.com/yc4usosp

I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Unfortunately, Fitbit has switched almost entirely to wrist models, so if you want a clip-on like their wonderful One ... they no longer offer that. If you want something slim, the flex2 (no display though, you have to check the app to see your numbers) or Alta (comes with or…

I wrote a little review of the Fitbit Aria on my blog (http://jenbsjourney.blogspot.com/2014/02/fitbit-aria-review.html) wow, that was in 2014 and I wrote it after having the scale a year and it's still working well. My son mentioned the Aria2 to me, but as my original Aria is still working fine ... and I haven't looked…

you've tried fitbit-support@fitbit.com and support@fitbit.com ... they've worked for me in the past, I sure hope they work in the future, I'm an email gal too!

Logging gets to be second nature after a while if you keep going. It's always an estimate with calories in and out. I know I should be more careful with weighing and measuring (I don't) but for me even more than the numbers, it's a food "diary" ... I can look back at what I ate when, and it helps me remember that day and…

Your fitbit "burn" won't come through at all unless it exceeds what MFP thinks you should be getting according to your setting. I'm anything but sedentary most days (I often hit 30k during the week) but I still set myself to sedentary here on MFP. I can see that if I wasn't as active as I am, I WOULD be limited to 1200…

On the Fitbit community forums, LOTS of people are complaining about battery life on their One's suddenly going down. @lauraer ... after discovering that the One was discontinued (No! That's another big thread on the Fitbit forums!) I did a little experiment with the Alta (also in a 3rd party clip) ... it's much closer to…

The connection between Fitbit/MFP was having trouble for a couple days, but it's back up for me anyway. The only places I see the flow of information between the two is (1) On the Fitbit website/app the calories from the food I've added on MFP will show up. If I look at the calories in vs calories out section, or on the…

It depends on what features you want. I just upgraded from the Charge to the Charge 2 (wanted to be able to switch out bands, and I like the text alert feature). The Alta is a slight step down, doesn't track floors, but does everything else. The Flex it a bit below the Alta (no screen or heart rate) but is water"proof" and…

The Alta is a good little device. I just upgraded from the Charge to the Charge 2, which is just a tiny step up from the Alta. The Blaze and Surge have GPS too, but as I'm an indoor exerciser, that wouldn't really be anything I'd pay extra for, plus I like the smaller size.

I'm spoiled, and have both in my home gym ... and I use both almost every day. Overall I prefer the elliptical. I'm a SAHM and pop down to the gym multiple times a day. I really like the elliptical because it doesn't require any special workout wear, even shoes! I wear slippers. I have to wear shoes on the treadmill ... I…

Not just the eating, but the exercise too. I do SO much better Mon-Thurs getting my activity in while working with the boy's school schedule. Fridays are just okay, but Sat/Sun ... I call them "wicked weekends." I moved my official weigh-in to Monday mornings to see if that would motivate me at all. It's tough!

I really love going to my Zumba classes. Even beyond the physical benefits of exercise, it gets me out of the house socializing (I'm a huge homebody) and makes me feel more confident (I'm NOT a dancer at all, but now I feel like one a bit). Ironically I often feel MORE energized after class. I also elliptical, treadmill…

As others have said, the "fitbit burn" noted on Fitbit starts accumulating the moment midnight passes, so you'll have burned calories as soon as you wake up. You have, just by sleeping. Even on non-exercise days you'll likely burn about 2000 calories (depends on your weight and such) by the end of the day.

We are a Fitbit Family, I've had one for over five years and am still addicted to my Fitbit feedback. Each different kind has it's pros and cons so just choose which one works best for you (and which price point). We have had pretty much all of them (although not the newest ones) in our family ;)

I am a Fitbit Fan. I've had one for over four years now and feel lost without the feedback. My whole family (my five boys and hubs) now have Fitbits, as do the grandparents and Aunts and Uncles. Makes for fun family competitions. I did a blog post about all I love about it ...…

I'm not sure how you leave it on ... mine is OFF the second my workout is over. It's tight, and usually damp. I just get the stats for the workout itself. I do like to compare it's estimates to my Fitbit. I'm intrigued by the new Fitbit Charge HR though ... it IS one you leave on all day. I'm wondering how accurate it's…

I just wonder how accurate the heart rate monitoring would be at the wrist. I have a Polar FT4 with a chest strap and often wonder about its accuracy! During Zumba today I watched it drop to zero, then jump to 150, then down to 115 ... I like the feedback but it's SO frustrating sometimes, and Polar is a top name in HRMs.…

Congrats on your loss so far. Are you using an actual app on your phone tracking your steps (map my run, etc) or do you just have the MFP app. I've a Fitbit fan, it's so easy, I wear mine 24/7 pretty much. I have it synced to MFP and love how they work together. I think there can be some confusion if you have additional…

I went with the PolarFT4 too ... it has a lot of good reviews.

neither of my teen boys Fitbits were syncing (to Fitbit, although mine seems fine, syncing both to Fitbit and the sync between Fitbit and MFP). I looked up the troubleshooting, and I did a hard restart of both (for the One, plug it into the charger, hold down the button for 12 seconds, remove and press a button ... takes a…

I don't use mine at all, I just slip my One on my PJ top. That really does seem to work fine for me. My boys just keep theirs on their shorts. I'd be happy to send you my sleep band - message me your address and I'll send it out if you want it.
-
I generally go with Fitbit's estimates ... that IS why I bought it, to save myself from having to log everything manually. But there are some things that Fitbit doesn't calculate correctly (although what is "correct"? MFP, heart rate monitors, machine readouts ... they are all estimates). I do like to track my workouts…

I do ... I can tell you my weight for anytime in the past 8 years (with the odd exception, I didn't take the scale on vacation, and accidentally missed a day here and there). I don't stress (or get excited) about daily changes, but watch the trends, and I have an "official" weigh-in once a week on Fridays.
-
My MFP estimates and actual "Fitbit burn" are usually pretty close, they don't change much. But MFP is just estimating what your total would be at the end of the day, and then adjusts when it gets the actual numbers. If you go to the exercise tab in MFP, there is a little "i" in a circle next to your Fitbit Calorie…

As StaciMarie said, the scale doesn't depend on your Fitbit device (you don't even need to have one) ... I have hubs and my two oldest boys linked to our Aria. You have to send an email as stated above. You can go into the computer or app and delete the evening entry if you want though. Sometimes I'll weigh more than once…

I LOVE my Fitbit, I've had one for over four years now and I still love the feedback. They are a little pricey compared to other basic pedometers, but I love that I don't have to write anything down, that it all just syncs to my computer. I love the visuals of the graphs and how it works with other programs (like here with…

I'm a Fitbit Fan (I've had mine for over four years now) and we are a Fitbit Family (hubs and all five of my boys wear one, also my parents, brothers and their wives, makes for a fun family competition). It's not a magic bullet, but I love the feedback and the motivation it gives. I've done a blog post about all I love…
