  • I think you should consider expanding that out to keep habits of those who have lost weight and not gained it back. If you slip up put it on yourself but don't carry it with you. Everyday is a fresh start. Work on your mental, emotional self at least as much as your physical self every day. Setup rewards for milestones.
  • Can you honestly make it through an hour of German Volume Training with that low of carbs? I think you will be surprised at how how effective your training and gains in strength will be if you swap up some of that protein with carbs. The highest I've ever gone was 280 and that was a 240 pounds with my dreading every trip…
  • I don't log coffee and tea because I take them straight mostly. If I'm adding milk, cream, sugar or honey I always log it
  • Forcing yourself to eat a meal perhaps is more unhealthy. Anyone who tries to tell you that there is scientific proof is exaggerating andsimply promoting dogma. Don't buy into other people's beliefs. Listen to your own body. It truly is about the overall calories.
  • The reason you got away with that low of calories the last time was because you were morbidly obese so your body could draw from it's own stores. Depending on your frame you are now within 10% to 20% of the average BMI. In simplest terms your body knows this and there is abundant research out there that proves severe…
  • Do you adjust your stride on the fitbit site? I had to because I'm taller. As for the steps I'm up and down and only had 140 last night so, maybe keep an eye on it to see if it keeps up. I primarily walk for cardio and log it here just to keep an eye on accuracy and so far the Flex has been within range. The steps aren't…
  • Haven't seen it but did they actually get into activity levels? Fitness club memberships are useless metrics as the quitters subsidize the active users. I know activity levels are down and calorie intakes are up which is well documented. As to the sugar, it baffles me to how otherwise intelligent people are taken aback…
  • Silicone cups or parchment paper cups. THe parchment are nice but pricey
  • Based on the activity level you've given us if you have been eating that low of an intake for a sustained period of time then you will need to increase your calories or cut back your activity. Slowly increase (reverse dieting) your calories and go from there.
  • Do you like greek yogurt? I've been really enjoying the PC brand and it's considerably higher in protein than the other brands. Yes, it may be more costly but you have to look at bang for your buck. Lately I've been sticking to the 500 gram containers of honey and mixing with granola. Low fat cheeses are good also…
  • I just broke a sweat cleaning my dinner.
  • Does eating sugar make you a sugar addict? *ducks*
  • No it won't ruin your diet. If you stall on weight loss then you may need to increase your calories more than decrease them.
  • Thongs, but only in the summer ;)
  • Are these books in the fantasy section? To the OP, my condolences on your thread getting hijacked by all the wingnuts. Probably safe to assume if you are following your doctor's advice to ask them the question as every arm chair dietician is going to chime in with their theory and various crackpot theories dejour.
  • It is not nor will ever be an addiction. People over use the term addiction as a means to excuse themselves from taking responsibility and to feel better about themselves. At the most it's a habit albeit deeply entrenched one. Nothing will ever set you up for failure unless you believe it, please don't. Changing a habit is…
  • I've lost all of my weight without a gym. Started by walking then progressed to body weight exercises then to dumbbells. You do not need a gym to lose weight or gain strength at all. Edit: Overall I have lost 100 pounds prior to joining MFP.
  • About 10 seconds, maybe 5 if I skip and a minute if I spill my coffee.
  • Look into bodyweight exercises to begin with. They will help to strengthen your joints and can be done from home. I went from 280 down to 245 doing bodyweight exercises before adding in only two dumbbells. Essentially all I did was push up variations, chin ups, lunges, squats, planks, etc. Also look into…
  • Will also need to eat more dark chocolate due to bioavailability being lower....hmmm I'm liking the dark chocolate suggestion even more. ;)
  • Tagging for ideas. I barely passed on my last donation at 127 g/L on the hemoglobin which is rare plus low for men. One thing for myself that I noticed is my sleep was worse than normal which is crappy. Slept good after though. Depending on what you can fit into your diet there are plenty of nuts and seeds that are good…
  • Define overweight? I'm fairly fit and according to BMI I'm overweight. It's been like that my entire life. Overweight doesn't mean over fat despite what anyone wishes to believe. In fact when I was in my BMI range years ago the doctors told me I was 20 pounds underweight. BMI while an interesting statistical tool is pretty…
  • One word "Zzzquil", you're welcome.
  • What studies? What evidence? I suspect if you actually had studies you would have cited them.
  • That study deals specifically with obese patients with metabolic syndrome. You are making a huge leap to conclude that the OP is correct about eating earlier in the day. There are a few interesting studies listed here that are the opposite http://www.leangains.com/2011/06/is-late-night-eating-better-for-fat.html Mealtime…
  • I swear by this. Usually do the high temp version. http://www.justapinch.com/recipe/star-pooley/how-to-roast-the-perfect-whole-chicken/chicken
  • Well I only have one friend (who rocks by the way ) and really only moved on to MFP after using a google spreadsheet for years in order to save time. It's just a plus that I happen to be a white male :drinker: . If you're not measuring and posting about your bowel movements then feel free to add me. I track daily and…
  • I've been moving into the bourbons over the past year. Specifically I find they have more flavour for my palette. There is less rye based whisky up here then there used to be and most Canadian whiskies are more and more blended. At the moment I have Maker's Mark and Elijah Craig in my cabinet. Only a glass of each but,…
  • Put the eggs in water and bring to a rolling boil. Cover and turn off for 10 to 15 min's. I leave for 15 min's on old electric stove. Then put them into ice water for at least 5 to 10 min's. And I concur on using eggs that are a little older.
  • I do think society is very fat phobic and there are a**holes out there. There are also a**holes who are fat and obnoxious. Nothing in modern society when it deals with individuals can be defined in simplistic terms. We do love to classify and judge people...hmmm come to think about it all of society is pretty much filled…
