  • I got up at regular time, but did a double work out (60 min) for 2 reasons... 1. it was a workout day, and 2. I was going to someone's home that I lacked control over what I had to eat so I was building up my calories for dinner! (which I don't think caused me to go over, because I only had a slice of ham, and like 2…
  • I got a new water bottle that has a carrier to attach to my waist (my roommate couldn't believe how heavy my water bottle was that I took on walks/jogs) Pedometer from the other roommate, just one that clips to your pants. Electro pulse massager to work out the tight muscles from exercising!
  • I use a recumbent bike 2x a week, and only really push my limits 2x a week on the treadmill (usually Mon and Sat), the other days its just a solid walk, then Sundays are always off days so I can rest up for the next big push :) Trying to be ready for a 7 mi race at end of March, no real goal on time to finish...just to…
  • Thanks! I got it up to 15 min straight early this week meaning I completed a full mile without stopping! (13:30) That has NEVER happened in my life. Tonight I did 5 min alternates for 50 min between 4 and 4.5 mph. I was wiped out after that though so I better take it easy and not over do it. Don't need a burn out or an…
  • I'm originally from a small town near Kingston, went to college in Cobleskill, but now live near Louisville KY to be closer to horses.
  • I tried to manage what I ate, and even provided the pie...an upside down pumpkin pie 149 cal, .5 fat and it tasted like a pumpkin pie! But my success was not gaining weight and even losing a bit somehow when I got on the scale today!
  • Once or twice a week I generally have 300+ remaining and its because I'm off and being lazy. If I'm not moving around I'm not hungry therefore I won't think to eat lunch, and I keep the junk food out of the house. This happens on Sundays a lot which when I'm not working, is also an off day on workouts so my body isn't…
  • Alarm goes off at 6, M W F Sat I need to be on the treadmill by 615, Tue & Thurs 630 (shorter workout b/c I do weights at night). Done by 730 (sometimes 745), make my breakfast a protein shake and an English muffin with pb, make lunch, quick shower and out the door by 9. I'm tired getting going, but then tend to push…
  • I use the 10k step program on my treadmill on my long work out days, especially when I'm not feeling like doing 5miles. I'm not allowed to leave until 5mi or the 10k is up that way. Otherwise I may quit at 30 min b/c I'm tired or what not (haven't yet but certainly felt like it)
  • no i do not hold the rails while on the treadmill. I used the default stride on it as well. my avg mile is 1800-2000 steps. Maybe my treadmill is lying to me lol. it was 6000 something I don't remember exactly and I can't look it up as I've already sold it off. I may not swing my arms as vigorous as I need too, I run/jog a…
  • i tried the flex and did not like it. For me it underestimated how many steps/miles I did. The last day I used it I did 8k/4 mi on the treadmill and it read out that I did 3.25 mi and like 6k in steps...It was too much of a difference to keep me motivated. I know what I have to do...I just don't always like doing it lol.
  • Monday Wednesday Friday 60 min on the treadmill (currently 4 miles) Tuesday: 2 miles treadmill working on speed and then light dumbbell work later in the day Abdominal Crunches Biceps Curl Dumbbell Row, One-Arm, Bent-Over Flat Dumbbell Press Squat Triceps Extension Thursday 2 miles on Treadmill working on Incline (usually…
  • My goal weight is about 10 pounds less than my top of the healthy bmi range. (Shooting for 140, 149.6 put me at normal) I chose this since generally you will gain a little going into maintenance and I don't want to go back over the bmi. Also discussed with my doctor and she agreed that was the right range. My problem is…
  • The scale finally moved downwards this week, and stayed that way for 2 days (less likely to be a fluke.) If its like this by Monday I will update my profile and only have about 5 pounds to go!!
  • This time of year Grande Gingerbread Latte no fat, no whip. I will fit those calories in at least once every week or two, too good to pass up!
  • great job! i remember the feeling when i dropped below the 200s and promised myself i'd never go back either!! keep up the good work!
  • I did 5 miles, used the 10k step program on my treadmill but still had 1k steps left oops. My treadmill will give both steps and distance. I'm pretty exhausted tonight but I've got plenty of time to get that last 2 miles in.
  • I've got this....don't get me wrong I'm tired but I just finished 5 miles in 66 minutes and have til the end of March to get the rest of the mileage in. Feels good doing 5 miles!! Can't wait to be ready for more!!
  • Awesome job! The treadmill does me in as well I can't get more than a 15 min mile (mind you i'm stopping and walking between.) Yet outside I'm close to 12 min miles because I just look a little bit ahead (Still with walking, I'm not a real runner never will be.) Next thing you know you'll be running a full 5k! Keep up the…
  • I was just giving an idea for tracking minutes not calorie burn, I don't count my calories for strength training to eat them back since I don't know what I've burned I may let myself have an extra 100 calories or so.
  • I'd definitely get a pair of shoes that fit well that are dedicated to your running (remember to break in gradually.) I wouldn't necessarily spend a ton just getting into it. If you have a Rack Room Shoes or one of the big name outlet stores near you they are great places to find the pricier shoes for less. But I have…
  • I add it to my notes at the bottom that's the only way you can do it really. Unless lets say you ran 5 miles in an hr then logging you did an hour of running at 5mph would show that's how far you went :)
  • log it as circuit training or create your own exercise and input your minutes like that
  • I like my GoldToe :)
  • Awesome time for a first 5k race!
  • I haven't been doing one long run a week I know I need to add that in to my program if I'm going to make the distance though. While training for my 5k I was doing 1 5k practice run a week. So I know I need to up my distance gradually. I think 5 months to add 4 miles should be doable. I'm looking to finish not win :)
  • I just started on regular coffee wires me until about 3pm which means I'm ta least fidgeting more which more movement equals more calories burned right? Its better than the sluggish I want to lie in bed all day feeling! As long as its in your calorie and nutrient requirements there is no issue. Unfortunately those full…
  • Awesome job! Netflix or music do help a lot, but to do a 5k outside all you need is some nice scenery and someone a little bit ahead of you to keep you entertained enough to run it :) I find it easier to run outside than on the treadmill, I get bored on it too quickly (still do it but count down the minutes). 5mph is still…
  • A lot of 5ks have sign ups for runners or walkers. I walked one 100% 2 years ago, and finally this year I did the same one again this year "running" about 40-50% of it, and shaved about 13 minutes off of that and its gave me a huge confidence boost. So walk this one train more for the next add a little run to it and your…
  • Not as exercise. Its part of your daily life when MFP asks for activity level I'd say lightly active. Exercise is when you are purposefully doing work to burn calories getting the heart rate up for an extended period of time.
