Interesting alternative! I'll look into this. Thank you all for the suggestions - really helpful.

The first few days - maybe even 3 - can feel low energy. In my experience eating more, especially good fats, and upping my water helps a lot. Eventually things even out and for me at least I've had very even, solid energy.

I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist or anything of the sort, but I can speak anecdotally: growing up one of my close friends and I ate very similar diets, did similar sports and just generally had a similar level of fitness. As adults we have continued to have close lifestyles. She is shorter than me but about 30lbs…

I make it with chocolate hemp milk and cinnamon. I usually let it sit over night. I find it really tasty and filling. Definitely a weird texture, I'll admit that.

My roommate and I have a weekly CSA (community supported agriculture) basket. It's packed with local, seasonal, super yummy fresh veggies, we almost always have to have a big feast the day before our next one arrives because it's so much!

My belly button seems like it's so high! Haha. I don't know if this makes since but it seems to go up when the belly gets tight.

Sun Warrior makes raw vegan protein powders from vegetable and plant proteins. It's very clean, healthy and tastes pretty good too!

I'm also curious to know about the fat thing. I don't count my fat grams at all but just focus on where they're coming from. So obvs don't go fry everything up, but don't get hung up on it. I'd also just consider eating a little fish now and again while you're losing weight. That's what I did and it sped things along so…

I'm pescatarian too but I don't eat fish every day. I'm also gluten free so I rarely eat a lot of bready stuff. A typical day for me is: GF Granola, almond milk and fruit for breakfast Big salad with quinoa or tuna for lunch Big salad or veggies with tofu, baked fish or legume for dinner snacks I eat protein bars like…

Bod Pod is so informative. I found a HIIT center near me that offered it for $25. I got a whole run down of body composition and I think you can ask for BMR TDEE as well. It's a great way to go.

I usually go over on my fiber. Fruits like pears, apples, raspberries, veggies, especially asparagus are so high in fiber. You can also add chia seeds in easily by pretty much putting them on anything. Quest bars, are great too. It's not rocket science.

I don't mean to be argumentative but I'm not entirely convinced by this comment. Ashtanga is the "original" hot yoga practice and is incredibly vigorous AND spiritual and to me mentally relaxing. Practicing ashtanga mysore becomes a ritual of asana that allows the mind to relax and the body to move. I've burned upward of…

I personally would get your bum to a class before you do online/app stuff. You just benefit a lot from getting a teacher there to make sure you have proper alignment and aren't injuring yourself. My suggestion would be this: Start with hatha classes. Do 5-10 until you feel like you have the basics down. Then try, hot,…

Before you do, educate yourself on everything that gluten is in. Then I would do an elimination diet of the specific types of gluten. Wheat first then oats, barley, spelt etc. Otherwise your getting rid of a ton of foods you might not have a problem with. People rarely understand that gluten is in so many things in a trace…

Ugh I'll try this again, but I'm photo-posting challenged. My MFP friends encouraged me to post a bikini pic after I recently finished my 30lb weight loss ~ now I'm just building some more muscle, getting stronger and training hard!

Fresh fruits and vegetables?

I'm not even sure if this is serious, but this is based off the Master Cleanse which is not exactly a healthy nor enjoyable way to lose weight.
-
Yum! I had homemade gluten free muesli with blackberries and unsweetened almond milk and a fresh mango! Oh and coffee of course.
-
I tried...it failed.

I think this depends a little on genetics too. I'm naturally ectomorphic, I'm 5'10" 126 and my bf% is 13. I have normal periods, sleep, etc and I don't look emaciated. I just went to the doc and she said Im healthy as can be! My point is, don't aim low, but don't assume low is extremely underweight.

Johnny Walker - neat.

glitch mob is another favorite- I'm usually wildly disappointed by these threads- but there is some good stuff in here! [/quote] Yes...

Well yay for you for taking initiative. That's really incredible. I'm excited for your journey! Eat to Live is REALLY great. Take it with a grain of salt because the author is kind of intense, but a lot of great information. I noticed in your diary - first off, great job logging - that there are a lot of days that are over…

First of all, eliminate what "my body SHOULD" be doing from your thoughts. Don't worry about the should, focus on the present and the reality. - buy a food scale, weigh everything - consider a fitbit to track calorie burn - drink more water than you think necessary - calculate BMR & TDEE before choosing "1500" - take your…

Well, eating a lot of carbs and sugar consistently probably isn't the best way to lose weight/gain muscle but don't freak out if it's a rare occurrence. And like the previous answer mentions, you can change the ratio if you want. Personally, I do the best when I don't eat very many carbs or much sugar and focus on healthy…

"Good night Handsome." F*** that's depressing.
