  • I can't say I've ever received a creepy/pervy message, and I've been on (and off) this app for almost 7 years. Guess I'm not hot enough? I honestly don't know what I would rank as, but probably pretty low. Idk, the internet is a strange place. I've made some cool friends, though.
  • Hi there! I too struggle with binge eating. It's not just junk food, it's anything and everything that is available. Potato chips? I'll eat the entire family sized bag. Ice cream? Why not eat half the carton? Better yet, half now, and the other half in about 2 hours. I meal prepped lunches for the week? But I'm hungry now,…
  • Starting back up today! So this seems like a great thread to follow  Just for today I will walk outside for 30 minutes during lunch. Baby steps, lol.
  • Thanks for these suggestions! I'll definitely have to go out and see what the various sizes look like, and judge from there. All of your comments have been really helpful!
  • But what exactly IS the proper size? I have a giant duffel bag, which I use for traveling, as a carry on. That's definitely way too big. I'll need to carry a change of clothes/shoes/socks, small towel, water bottle, deodorant, workout notebook, some small snacks, and a few (2-3) small makeup-sized pouches for toiletries…
  • I was wondering the same thing! When I listen to fast music while working out, it pushes me to work harder. When I have a great workout, I tend to eat less. But I'm sure if I was listening to fast music while eating, I'd probably eat more. Which is why I don't, lol.
  • My feet aren't flat, but I do have a pronation issue. I either wear my running shoes to class, or stick in some arch support insoles, and I'm good to go! My advice would be to go to a shoe store and try on a bunch of different pairs to feel which fit the best. Don't be scared to bust out some sweet moves in each pair, too,…
  • I log housework, but only because I have my activity level set to sedentary. If you've already given yourself some wiggle room for daily activity, I wouldn't log it.
  • OMG I KNOW!!! WTF. I haven't read the books, but I was warned that this happened. No bueno. =(
  • Oh man, that was the MOST irritating thing that people said to me! "Girl, you're too skinny! You can skip your workout today!" Or, "Hey, we're having pizza and ice cream! Here's a huge plate! You're so skinny, it's ok if you indulge a bit!" And it literally got to me so much, that I actually did begin to skip working out,…
  • Check out www.bodybuilding.com! I never lifted weights before, and this site is awesome! You can get a whole exercise plan based on your goals, and there are videos that show you exactly how to do the moves. It's a game-changer! I did a program two summers ago and was in the best shape of my life! I plan to do Jamie…
  • I've met a few friends on MFP, and one of them was definitely a crush! I think if you find someone and hit it off in real life, who knows what could happen? Online meeting/dating is much less taboo than it used to be, and more people are open to meeting potential partners online!
  • Maybe try giving it some more time. I know a month with no progress is disheartening and discouraging, but this is a new lifestyle, and you need to give you body time to get used to it. Congrats on quitting cigarettes, that is a great start! Just make sure to keep taking care of yourself, and incorporating exercise…
  • The thing that nobody talked to me about - and I wasn't ready for - was that even though I knew I was smaller, I still FELT exactly the same. And not just felt the same, but I felt that I LOOKED the same, too. No matter how many pictures I saw of myself as a slimmer person, I never felt like that version of myself. Don't…
  • It could be that 1200 is too low for now. Try it out, as well as some of the other suggestions and see what happens! Just don't give up! Try chatting with a trainer, if you go to the gym, they can help you make a workout plan that can help you meet your goals. Also, if possible, talk to a nutritionist or a dietician about…
  • I'm from Michigan, but I live in Northern Virginia (DC Metro) now! I visit every couple of months, though!
  • Try adding some strength training to your workouts. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn while at rest. That could help with the bit of weight you're trying to lose. You could try lowering your calories on the days that you don't workout/run. Good luck!
  • I tried it once, and wasn't very impressed. The workout itself wasn't bad, but I couldn't see doing it more than once a week, let alone almost daily, like some people get into. They made me sign a waiver that said the "trainers" may not be licensed or certified. Basically, anyone off the street came come in and lead a…
  • I generally only log gym workouts, and walking from my commute as exercise. I have my activity level set to "sedentary" since I am a student, so I'm always either sitting in class, or sitting at home reading for class. But I don't log cleaning, cooking, or any other day-to-day activities like that.
  • Love it! Still true, even after moving to DC three years ago!
  • Not rude at all! Your wife was being rude for making a scene about it. Texting at the dinner table is something that kids get in trouble for, why the heck would an grown woman engage in such behavior for such a petty issue? I don't understand why people think going to a restaurant and not ordering (when other people at the…
  • Heaviest: 212 (ugh, terrible) Lightest: 157 (so close!) Current: 182 (stress eating/no gym motivation all summer) Goal: 150 (or less!) Just joined a new gym and signed up for 10 sessions w/ a trainer. She's really cool, and is going to kick my *kitten* back into gear!
  • FiberOne food makes my tummy very unhappy. Sounds like you're getting enough fiber from natural sources. Maybe try cutting out the cereal for a while, see if it helps? If not, add it back and try something else! Hope your tummy gets better soon!
  • About to move in with significant other!
  • My sister had one, and she did the "book method" a bunch of times but it kept coming back. She eventually had surgery to remove it, and I think it's been ok since...
  • Just because your believes do not align with those of the original poster, does not mean you can be a jerk about it. If you don't agree, then you don't need to comment. This helps nobody, and just goes to show the MFP community your real self. Not so cute.
  • Currently in DC, but moving to Falls Church at the end of August!
  • I lost consistently by eating my allotted calories, plus most of my exercise calories. I was working out 4-5 days a week, alternating cardio and weight training. When I hit plateaus, I would adjust my calorie intake to find the new "sweet spot," and would get back on track. I'm about your height, and when I was at 175 I…
