  • The thing with 50+ is my metabolism slowed to a crawl!! Not to mention that I was grazing all weekend and I'm up 3 pounds  But today I worked out for 45 minutes and stayed within calorie range without eating my exercise calories so hopefully by the end of the week I can be back on track and dump those 3 pounds again.…
  • GREAT JOB!!! :drinker: :flowerforyou:
  • Tam tasic - you keep me going, thanks for letting us all ride on your fantastic wave!! Keep going strong.:flowerforyou: loss-ticker] [/url] Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • wow I got all excited and then saw Oregon...:frown: I'm in springfield Virginia - going to the Gold's on my own. Good luck and good for you working out. :drinker: Cheers!
  • the ADA formula to calculate protein needs is: your body weight in pounds X .45 to get your body weight in Kilograms. Then multiply that by 0.8 to get the number of grams of protien you should eat per day. If you weighed 145 lbs X.45 = 65.25 X .08 = 52.2 grams of protien. There are 4 calories per gram of protein so you'd…
  • I have one of those jobs and one of those days. In fact I baked a dozen mocha muffins [80 cals] and had 4 of them for lunch. I keep a lot of low cal snacks around like baby carrots and fat free dip made with fat free cottage cheese blended with garlic and spices, suger free baked goods, thin sliced turkey and laughing cow…
  • I don't know about your metabolism but for me - I don't eat my work-out calories. It seems to work out fine because other days I go a little over my allotment so it seems to balance out over the weeks. I've been losing 2 pounds a week pretty consistently doing it this way. Of course I don't burn as many caloires working…
  • you are an inspiration - and we all need that! Congratulations and THANKS!:flowerforyou:
  • I did this 3 years ago and I support you 100% - it's a hard one!!:explode: But you have lots of support around you and with some hard candy and lots of crunchy stuff - celery, carrots, melba toast - you can do it. I also found keeping my hand occupied was essential - knitting, needlework, a squeeze ball, writing, whatever…
  • splenda will measure cup for cup with suger per volume but it is sweeter. When suger is called for in a recipe I cut back the splenda by 1/4 to 1/3. To get equal sweetness you'd probably need to up the suger... or not!

  • like gto-judge it's more about cutting back than cutting out altho - pizza, donuts, and bagels just aren't worth the calories or the fat. I don't eat suger but love splenda. Limited bread and bakery goods. Thank God for laughing cow cheeses! :glasses:
  • I'm in for 100 - and I hope this is a thread and not a threat!! I didn't just fall off the wagon today I leapt off and into a vat of chocolate and carbs -- it was very gratifying. Tomorrow I will hit the gym and get back on my routine. I do not beat myself up or speak unkindly to myself when I take a detour into food.…

  • :drinker: congratulations!! I have also found this site to be incredibly helpful - although I am still a long way from my goal, I know I will make it. Keep up the good work, you inspire us all.:flowerforyou:
  • chili cheese dog
  • This is fantastic - 200 calories is a great save! I love when I can trim a few off. I've replaced mayo with a creamy tofu dressing that keeps that creamy texture in chicken or tuna salad. I don't have it here but look under recipes. I add dill or chives or whatever seems to work with what I'm serving. Cheers!:drinker:

  • :explode: I know how you feel it's a shock to the system to see the increase in cost!! I don't know where you live but I have been shopping at a local asian/latino grocery store and also buying whole chickens at costco and freezing them. Summer brings lots of cheaper fresh veggies and we eat a lot of them. Replace pasta…
  • I believe that if we stay within our calorie limits its nice to have something special or even "wicked" now and again. I had a 400 chili dog at dairy queen one saturday and it was a little bit of heaven!! Congrats for keeping up your jogging and going the distance!! :drinker: here's to you!
  • Thomas English muffin w/laughing cow lite swiss and 2 slices of oscar meyer deli sliced turkey breakfast sandwich = 175 calories  yum
  • Welcome! I've been here 5 weeks and I'm 13 pounds down since I've been here, 20 altogether. This site is really a life saver for us calorie counters. I can plan a night out in advance and not have to feel guilty. Nice to see so many other people taking on the challenge of being good to themselves. Cheers to you…
  • Hi Jakspak! I've always wanted to see New Zealand perhaps you'll post pictures one day. I too had a breast reduction but my surgeon was not very good. Seems his specialty was faces, especially cleft palates etc so he didn't know what he was doing and left me with an A cup at best:cry: but now I'm determined, like you, to…

  • my favorite breakfast - or lunch too - 1 toasted thomas' 100 calorie english muffin with a wedge of laughing cow lite cheese and one or two slices of oscar meyer thin sliced turkey. 175 calories with 2 slices of turkey 155 with one. or an open face under the broiler with 1/2 a muffin and one slice of turkey is only 105!!
