  • Ah! But your sparkling personality and goodhearted humor kept anyone else from noticing! Congrats on the weight loss too! That's really something so amazing most people - including myself - can't fully comprehend.
  • Wow! You look so much younger! Congrats!
  • I totally agree with this!
  • Hi Jex, I've tried a few different things to loose weight - low carb, Weight Watchers. But MFP has been a key for me - a tool to track my calories (in) and exercise (out) - and yes, that's really all there is to it. The other keys would include actually exercising (find what you LIKE to do) and moving some weights - and…
  • Welcome! It's hard to get motivated sometimes, but it's great that your wife is an inspiration. After starting to work out last October (very minor activity), I finally think i have my metabolism raised. It's a LOT easier to loose weight now. My biggest aids in all this have been MFP and finding exercise that I actually…
  • HI Jane, Welcome. MFP has bee JUST want I needed to make a definite change in my habits. I've lost 13lbs with the help of MFP, and a total of 27lbs from my own personal "heavy weight". Things are going much better WITH MFP, as compared to without. Hope MFP turns out to be right for you, that you find it comfortable here,…
  • It might help to tell your husband that by exercising, he'll actually have more energy! I know that sounds like it can't be accurate, but it is. Once you start exercising, it's like recovering from a hangover. Of course, that's a healthy amount of exercise - pushing too hard will definitely wear you down. Also, if you're…
  • That's really disgusting! Once AGAIN the FDA fails to protect us from the producers greed. I'll stick to my organic meat I purchase from the grocery. I rarely eat meat in restaurants - this gives me further bolstering. Thanks for posting!
  • Wow. I've never heard of calorie cycling. Maybe that was it. I did workout on some of those days, but not like i usually do. I'll investigate the calorie cycling more. I had definitely wondered what was happening to my metabolism with all the extra exercise and dieting. I've often heard that if you don't do things right,…
  • HI Onnee, Glad you've joined us! I'd get started by looking at the Diary section of the site. That has been the single reason this site has been successful for me. You can add your intake there, and also log your exercise. Look forward to seeing you around!
  • Thanks ladies! Some of these things, like the veggie burgers, I already purchase. Some i can't find locally, like the Blue Menu items. However, here are the things I added to this week's purchases: Fat Free Cottage Cheese - i used to eat this with Sugar-free jelly and a few raw almonds on top. Carrots Raw Almonds I didn't…
  • One egg - "poached" in the microwave. 1/2 slice of American cheese Oroweat Double Fiber - Whole Wheat English Muffins like a healthy Egg McMuffin - but MUCH healthier! 277 calories and carries me to lunch with no snacking
  • What i see in your post is someone who really wants to make a change - and that's a very positive thing. I'm glad you're here. Here's my help (which may not differ from most others): Get some friends on MFP -- it really does help. You'll see how others are doing. You'll see them have good days, and bad ones. They will…
  • Airbourne and Emergen-C. We're also big fans of the neti (or sinus rinse). It works wonders on abating sicknesses.
  • I hate to be like this, but maybe you're just not ready. Perhaps if you found an exercise that you ENJOY, you'd make it fit in. For me, that's been Yoga and Zumba. Started out with Yoga in October just for the pure self-nurturing aspect of it. It was something I decided to be selfish about - to make it MY TIME. Loosing…
  • Morning Glory muffins - if others are making dinner, maybe you can provide some desert/snacks. These are wonderful!
  • Maybe you're not getting enough calories. I joined a gym lately and the nutritionist mentioned that 1200 calories a day is really the minimum - anything under that and your body goes into starvation mode (retaining everything it can). I have to eat more than i want to get closer to my recommended calorie intake. So I'd…
  • sometimes you can ask for your sushi to be prepared with brown rice for a lower calorie count.
  • I don't think you should worry yet. I've lost about 7lbs in two weeks, and i can definitely feel 'something' going on in that area. There's probably a measurable amount of pressure that's now absent from your mid-section. I'm not surprised that you're a bit late. I've always heard that bigger girls have stronger TOM's,…
  • I'd vote for yoga. A good teacher will be able to tell you what moves you can do, and suggest alternatives. We always have people in class that have bad backs, tight necks, etc., and accomodations are happily made.
  • Hi, We have the Zumba game for xbox with the Kinect. I'd say it's one of the better games.( I take Zumba 2x's a week.) It's great when you can't get out of the house - but I enjoy being in the room with so many other people jiggling, dancing, and sweating - just like me.
  • I'm a big Zumba fan too! What a fun workout! My suggestion is to take a look at your shoes. My husband took a few classes with me and noted that I really needed to buy a new pair of shoes. He said most sporting shoes have quite a nice heal on the - making the heal an inch or more off the floor. This apparently makes the…
  • Popcorn Replacement: 1 cup multi-bran chex 3 - 5 sprays of that spray butter - toss to coat 1/2 teaspoon popcorn seasoning. Ta Da! All the crunch with far fewer calories!
  • I checked the Wii Fit out as best as I could, but wasn't very impressed with it. But I have to confess that everyone i spoke with had all positive reviews. For Valentines', my DH got me the Xbox with Kinect. It's rather cool. The Kinect watches you as you work out so it enables you to do more. Essentially, the games…
