A Vitamin C tablet 3 times a day!0

I like to take Zicam... it's basically a super concentrated form of Zinc. You take it every 3 hours and it dissolves on your tongue. The key is to take it when you feel the cold coming on, which would be the perfect time for you! I also drink a lot of tea, and when I have a cold, I like chamomile! Anything, really that is warm on my throat feels good. If you go to a health food store, they have teas there that are formulated to help with colds, though. Some just don't taste the best Hope you feel better soon!0

Or an Echinacea tablet 3 times a day. Or both!0

The second I start to feel sick, I take Emergen-C. I've also started adding more Zinc to my vitamin intake. That's seemed to help me!0

I like Echinacea - some say it doesn't do much but I believe it does for me:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echinacea
I like the tea which also has vitamins and zinc and IMHO does NOT taste rank:

And my favorite is probably this:

This does taste quite medicinal, hubby hates it, I like it a lot. One of the reasons why I like it was because if you are coughing or having a sore throat, this also just soothes because it moistens your throat. It is alcohol based, but since you just spritz, I don't think it's a problem. From the site:
Zand Herbal Mist contains ingredients such as Echinacea angustifolia, goldenseal, licorice, sage leaf and hyssop which have potent antibacterial and antiviral properties.
Peppermint oil, Tea Tree oil and Thyme oil are used to help dry excess mucus (thyme oil), suppress cough activity (peppermint and thyme oil) and discourage bacterial reproduction (all three).0 -
I second echinacea with goldenseal though its gross but it does wonders~0

Emergen-C does wonders!
Hot tea with lemon and honey.
Chicken noodle soup.
Dayquil/Nightquil.
Trop50 OJ
Hope you feel better soon!0 -
I haven't researched any of the suggestions by others, but I know vitamin C will help with the symptoms. There is no cure to the cold...but you can help control the symptoms of it. Also..drink lots of liquids and get plenty of rest.
Good luck! And feel better!0 -
I take a natural immunity booster called Viracid. It works wonders! You "load" and take 2 pills in the AM and 2 in the PM. As you start to feel better, you reduce to 1 AM/PM, then 1/day and then off when you're better!0

I take this when I feel it coming on with the first symptoms and I generally don't get the cold at all.
Mix it in a little apple juice and the flavour isn't so nasty. Still nasty.. but it doesn't bring on that, this is friggin' yucky face.0 -
Get you some Zinc!!0

I love these questions because my husband and his dad are convinced that if you down a bunch of vit C you will get better quicker, take zinc, take echinacea etc etc etc........If you are getting a cold you will be better in an average of 7 days regardless of what you take if you take anything its just a bonus for you. If you are getting sick with a flu or anything else you may want to see the doctor for tamilflu if needed or antibiotics. My husband thought he had the flu a couple of weeks ago and three days in we found out he had pneumonia so it never hurts to go see the doctor0

Echinacea is a good one. This is the organic/natural stuff is what we take. It is expensive but it works sooo good.
(I know...the link is huge) lol

I'm buying this! haha0 -
LOL! Yeah, this stuff is amazing. A few years ago my husband had a super bad cold and we bought like 4-5 different types of cold medicine over like 2-3 days and nothing would touch it. His mom came over and brought this cough syrup and Echinacea and he stopped coughing like an hour later. It was crazy. It is the only stuff we buy now. I guess it you get what you pay for.0

Zinc lozenges, vitamin C, echinacea, and/or ginger (the root in cooking, or the tea) or peppermint tea are all great!0

Airbourne and Emergen-C. We're also big fans of the neti (or sinus rinse). It works wonders on abating sicknesses.0

Depending on all of your symptoms, I like hot water with lemon. It is very tasty and it always makes me feel better. Whenever I feel a cold starting, I heat up water and put lemon juice in it. It is also very soothing when you have a sore throat.
I also use the neti rinse. I have the bottle kind. I actually have to use it everyday due to chronic sinus infections, but when I feel a little clogged in the nasal passages I up my use to twice a day until I feel better. You could try using that to help rinse away the gross stuff up there if you have nasal congestion.0
