  • Azo over the counter pills for relief, usually near tampons and stuff at pharmacies. Drink a lot of water and lower your sugar and caffeine intake if possible. I tend to up my vitamin C intake, too, and as a preventative measure, drink lots of water regularly and don't hold your pee for too long.
  • I've been gone a while and just returned to mfp. Calorie counting in and of itself is just a tool for your disposal-- that's it. It is not inherently disordered eating. But it can be triggering for some people. If you want to record and try for a healthy weight and balanced diet, this is a good tool. It's related…

  • I can't post pics here from my phone, but you can check my profile. I have a side by side comparison of me at ~160 compared to me at ~135. I am 5 feet 4& a half inches tall.
  • A lot of us have been there, op... Look for a running group/club! There are runners groups everywhere, and have members of varying levels. Beginners welcome, and you'll get useful input on form, shoe reviews, training techniques, and even swap setlists (mp3) if you have musical chemistry with another runner. Craigslist has…
  • Hi, I'm Penny. Start: 139.75 lbs 12 week goal: 127.5 lbs **(1# per week with current settings on target for 1.2lbs/week. Yay, wiggle room)** Physical goal: Increase flexibility and leg range of motion. Nutritional goal: 1 vegan dinner and 1 vegetarian dinner per week. All seems pretty reasonable so long as I stay on track.
  • Mine is kinda similar to OP. Apparently I have back dimples. I literally had no idea until I went to the beach last Saturday and got complimented on the trait. Guess I never could see it when I was pudgier.
  • That sounds reasonable. Sounds like you were 173-175 depending on water weight fluctuations and you're now in at 168 which is a loss of 2lbs a week, pretty reasonable for someone overweight or at the edge of "healthy/overweight" BMI. If you're eating a reasonable (1500) calorie goal and exercising, how would it be harmful?…
  • Say no to micro aggressions. "My body is NOT up for commentary." Tell them that. Tell them you are not standing on a pedestal to be evaluated and that you'd rather be spared people's judgments about your habits and health. You have a right to privacy and it's not rude to set that boundary out loud, it's self preservation.
  • Advice on how to get through it and you're bummed out you aren't taking in enough calories to workout... Your eating habits shouldn't be something you have to"get through" and a "cleanse" is really just a marketing gimmick by the diet industry. This is an industry that makes profit by conditioning people to hate…
  • Buy or make malt salt seasoning. It's good on any homemade snacks from air popped popcorn,to kale chips, to grilled veggies(sweet potato fries!). It's super flavorful and can satisfy cravings. Also, miso roasted vegetable chips with sesame or furikake, tamari/soy sauce almonds, or a hard boiled egg topped with salt and…
  • No, not really. It's likely you'll find people actually permanently changing their eating habits and ingesting real, good-tasting food in moderation for results that don't disappear when you stop the diet. Just eat real food, and as far as meal replacements go, those are terrible.
  • Midnight. I record by 24 hour period, especially when working graves. I don't restrict food, I just budget it. I go over pretty often and go under pretty often because I eat when I'm genuinely hungry. As long as the calories average out to net goal by the week, then I'm still on track.
  • Frozen spinach/broccoli/stir fry's etc. Bags of dry beans, rice or grain bought in bulk section of super market. Buy soups when on sale, hot dogs, grilled cheese, cottage cheese/yogurt, squash and root vegetables are your friends. I'd invest in at least one quality peanut or tree nut butter... Bananas are cheap; apples,…
  • Yes, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Most packaged food labels are off by about 10-15%, it's a much higher mislabeling at restaurants where lab controlled portions for the data are not so carefully measured by chefs during a dinner rush. As for calories burned, I log my exercise, but only tend to eat back about half my…
  • I don't go to Starbucks specifically, but at my work I get free espresso. Typically make myself a nonfat(or almond milk) cappuccino made extra dry. The foam takes up volume and has a luxurious texture, but uses far less milk than a latte. If I want it as a dessert, I add a few pumps of sugar-free toasted marshmallow syrup.
  • I live in PDX and love the availability of food and adventure in this state. Feel free to add. Always ready for adventure here.
  • Though I initially had no opinion on the subject (aesthetically?) I really, REALLY like having a thigh gap. I don't ever experience chub rub when wearing shorts or skirts (or while running anymore) and my jeans last more than ~6 months because they don't wear out in the thigh scraper region. It's not something I worked for…
  • I honestly don't tend to track any pickled veggies. But then, I can't think of anyone ever getting fat on <15 calories of pickles, kimchi, sauerkraut, daikon, or capers. As for butter and candy on the other hand... just budget for a controlled amount.
  • I don't do core or nu genres... Bleh. But so far this year, I saw Mayhem , Pig Destroyer & Watain last month and got Exhumed, Napalm Death, & Voivod tix for next week. Hoping to make it down to California Deathfest this year. Wish this group was a bit more active.
  • I don't believe in marriage as a concept. But I was in my longest running relationship when I came out as ace. Even though for a variety of reasons we were already not sexually active, it turned into a very abusive unhappy experience for him, so I left. It wasn't easy, but things turned out for the better in the end. Life…
  • Cajun red beans and rice. Miso soup w/ tofu AND dried mushrooms. Quick veggie curries over rice or quinoa. Sub Daiya or omit cheese entirely for this: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/skillet_gnocchi_with_chard_white_beans.html Cooks really quick. Check your brand before you buy or make your own gnocchi in advance. I…
  • *Intersectionality* just sayin..... It's a lifestyle forum as much as anything. Health/fitness/weight loss are a lifestyle. The very reason they allow groups on this site is to further the community bond by identifying relatable peers and allies.
  • I'm branching out and taking gogo dancing classes. I've always done American tribal or modern belly dance fusion. I'm going to be incorporating bellydance freestyle into my electrodance workouts and see how that goes. Also continuing classes with Rachel Bryce's studio, so bewteen the two series I'm starting the month, I…
  • I never understood the obsession, but after my BMI hit about 22, it was just there. It actually is pretty nice. No thigh scraping in short skirts, no more rips in my jeans from excess wear in the fabric where it was chafing. It's still not worth obsessing over, in either direction. I don't condemn anyone who has one, but…
  • VS is actually pretty notorious for this kind of thing. Much like Abercrombie & Fitch has received criticism for not catering to a variety of shapes and sizes, and even admittedly said they cater to "cool" (ie not fat, not poor, not of lower socio-economic status), Victoria'sSecret very specifically caters to "straight…
  • I use Ghee or a local brand of butter, like Tillamook or Alpenrose. Real butter is the way to go for most cooking and baking, just measure appropriately. If you want one of the veg*n buttery spreads for bagels or toast, I'd go with soy-free Earth Balance.
  • It doesn't really taste good. It's oily and gamey and gross. I ate it on the reservation when it was served to me; never again.
  • Lox and (chive) cream cheese on a whole grain toast/bagel/English muffin. Savory overnight oats. Ready made bacon for a quick BLT wrap. Jimmy Dean's microwave sausage breakfast sandwiches. Biscuit and gravy.
  • Maybe raw vegan cook books would benefit you. You can look at meal recipes online. No cooking involved, and if vegan isn't your thing and you need protein, you can find a way to throw in a can of tuna, cooked chicken breast, etc.
  • ? If that were the only thing not being measured, but 70 calories here and there adds up when you're just guessing. Unknown variable =/= 70. I just don't get why people come here then complain tracking when the site is literally designed for logging.
