  • Best quote to live by...Nothing changes if nothing changes.
  • Nice job! Welcome to the club!
  • Welcome! What a journey it will be. First couple of months are the hardest especially as you change your eating habits and you way of life. Then after you are able to eat more you have to make sure you stay on top of proper portion sizes. I started back at weight watchers 9 months after surgery and I had about 20 pounds…
  • Amazing transformation.
  • Like another poster said, it doesn't feel like you are dropping sizes fast the higher you are, but when you get into 12's and under watch out. I was in size 12's for 30 days, that's it. Crazy! So you will see more drastic results coming just hang in there!
  • I always say, according to my nutritionist and my doctor I am right on track and I am in the normal range for my height. If you were a stranger and didn't know the fat me you would think I was normal sized. I have lost over 120 pounds (96 post op) and I was about a size 16-18, now I wear a size 4 pants and a medium shirt.…
  • I just had a full tummy tuck and breast lift with augment on the 17th of April and am doing great. Word to the wise, search for a board certified plastic surgeon (of course) one who preferably does a quilting stitch closure WITHOUT drains. I have lost over 115 pounds and had tons of extra skin in my midsection and my…
  • Yup, same here. Cold all of the time. 88 pounds gone and freezing my butt off.
  • I had the most weight around my stomach and that is where my last 15 pounds still are. I lost in my chest over the last few months, but it is evening out. Get used to your clothes falling off and don't get attached to anything cute! If you have something you like a lot buy it in the next size down too!
  • I am 5'5" and was 234 before surgery. I am now 148. I am 9 months post op. I am still losing about 4-6 pounds a month. If you follow your surgeon's advice and do the things you are supposed to you will be successful. For example, no carbonated beverages. It has been 10 months since I had a soda or a beer and I am fine with…
  • I had sleeve surgery in January of 2014, I started slowing down in August to about 4 pounds a month of weight loss, but by then I was at about 80% of my total excess body fat lost so I expected a slow down. In Sept I rejoined Weight Watchers. It added that accountability that I needed before in the past. I lost 6 pounds…
  • I have been hitting the clearance rack at JC Penney (they have some really great stuff there now...not your grandmas Penneys anymore) and they always have coupons and pretty good sales. I remember buying shorts there this summer and I got 8 pairs for under $80. Too bad they are all too big now. I was in size 12's for 30…
  • Hey everyone! I have to say that this journey is 100% mental. The surgery is just a tool, I know we all get sick of hearing that but it is true. Every pound lost is because of what you did or didn't put into your body. I had 41 years of bad eating habits and those don't change over night and it isn't easy. You have to…
  • Hi there! 9 months post op here but it seems like surgery was just yesterday! Welcome to the club, expect a rollercoaster ride. Things change so quickly in the first few months, many great things are ahead so when you hit a rough patch think BIG PICTURE. Without the surgery things were so much harder, now it's easier for…
  • Take it one stage at a time. It's so much info to take in all at once. A few days before the next stage read up on what's coming next. Your body will be changing constantly. Some days you'll see big losses, the next maybe a gain. That is normal and it will even out once you get past the liquid, soft foods, then finally…
  • It's fun and confusing all at the same time! I still feel bigger too and it has been 9 months since surgery and I have lost 86 pounds. I too have a hard time finding stuff that fits right, but it is really nice to be able to go into a store and pick stuff off a rack and it fits! All of my larger sizes I have passed on to a…
  • Highest Weight: 250 Starting Weight: 234.6 Current Weight: 149 Goal Weight: 135 Sleeved on Jan 13, 2014 9 months post op -lost 86 lbs so far Started in a tight size 16. Current size loose 6 (I refuse to buy more jeans until they are falling off, this weight lost journey has cost a lot). My feet lost 1/2 size.
  • Smoothies are a great way to get in protein and vitamins. If you have a Tropical Smoothies Cafe near by stop in and get one with Splenda. My fave is Island Green. With splenda it is only a little over 200 calories, no fat and with a shot of protein you can sneak in over 20g a day! Tons of vitamins as well and it is 24 oz…
  • Ask for a script for Zofran. It will help with the nausea. I couldn't drink enough, so it was making me sick to my stomach at about the same point in me journey. I would get headaches and didn't want to eat because my stomach was sour. The zofran helped and I was back on track within days. Those first few months are so…
  • Good for you! You should be SO proud!
  • I had sleeve done about 8 months ago, have lost 82 pounds. I have another 10-15 to hit my goal. I couldn't have had bypass since I had prior pelvic radiation due to cancer treatment, however I was leaning towards sleeve anyways. I didn't want to deal with the worry of dumping and deal with the vitamin issues either.
  • Hey Emma, I wanted to give you a first hand experience about weight loss surgery. There are several kinds of surgeries, lap band(being the least effective), bypass and vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I can only speak about my experience. I had the sleeve almost 8 months ago. I am 5'5" and weighed 235 at the time of surgery. I…
  • I used to love eggs, and I thought PERFECT for this lifestyle. Not so much anymore, I can't choke down half an egg.
  • I tip my hat to you! That is nothing short of amazing! Congratulations!!!!!
  • The first few months are the hardest because the change is so drastic from what you are used to. It gets easier as time goes on. Hang in there. You made the right choice for your health, give your head some time to catch up and you will be fine. I am 6 months post op and have lost 77% of my excess body weight! :)
  • Hey there! Sleeved 6 months ago. Lost 76 pounds of the 100 they want me to lose. Best decision ever. No complications here, no food intolerance. :) Loving life again.
  • Love the hair by the way!
  • I had my hair highlighted a few months after surgery, I have lost some hair but really focus on getting all my protein in.
  • I agree, weighing is important. And I burp and hiccup when I am done! LOL
