  • Does a cover song really count?!? my vote is no... its not like she made an original spin on it or anything And let me say this again, in case it got lost - Is there anyone that will disagree that REBECCA BLACK meets the ask of OP?
  • Thanks for all the tips, even though my questions will imply, I am not watching my numbers like a hawk, was just curious... I am not sure that I am "afraid of fat", but I am trying to maintain my numbers by this order: 1. carbs - they are less than 100gr, with most days around the 80gr, and my fiber is around the 20-25gr…
  • Don't you think that if you don't believe in evolution, for example, you are predisposed to write off certain diets? And may ask what you think is a diet that makes sense in an evolutionary way? as IMHO we certainly didn't evolve in a high grain/sugar environment
  • Still adjusting to this level of carbs - not sure I am ready to jump to ketosis. So do you count net carbs, or in this case a carb is a carb regardless if its fiber?
  • Hi All - I am new to this, and currently doing 50f/30p/20c - been working for me like a charm so far I am hitting my numbers in MFP (after I tweaked them to the above), but I am curios how the people that say they eat 10%-15% carbs get to such low levels... I hardly eat any carb heavy foods, but just the carbs that are in…
  • Though I am by no means a vegan (quite the opposite) I can recommend nuts.com they are really good, fast delivery (ship same day), and a wide range of dry fruit, vegan bars, etc.
  • Try adding fat while remaining in your goal calories (which seems a bit low), as a take it or leave it advice, I have been doing a diet that is 20% carbs (from veg, fruit), %30 protein, and %50 fat - not only have I dropped 20lbs, but my blood stats significantly improved (blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, etc.)…
  • They can also write books about it, and that doesn't make it true, or even do "research" - I have no idea if you even had a look at modern wheat compared to einkorn wheat, you can immediately tell the difference between two. Einkorn is an ancient breed of wheat, einkorn has 2 sets of chromosomes as apposed to 4 in modern…
  • I second that... modern wheat has been mutated using exposure to radiation and a powerful poison (just google it...) I have been trying to cut it, along with most other grains
  • This is John Mayer redeeming factor http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/0cc0bac3ce/chappelle-show-dancing-for-different-cultures
  • I despise dave mathews band, but even they have one decent song (crash into me I think its called), not a big fan of bruce, but he does have some good songs, and I totally disagree on rush
  • it's Ke$ha, she is lame true, but some of her stuff is ok (specially when you sing it in your head with cartman's voice - here is a youtube someone made, skip to about 15sec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFfxGuDhYBk ). the interesting thing about her, is apparently she got 1500 on her SAT's and has an IQ of over 140...…
  • I second that... the man is a true visionary, and a rock and roll legend! Since someone mentioned buffet (which the OP likes), I would like to include in the "quick! break the radio before my ears bleed!!": * grateful dead * rick astely * modern talking * Justin Bieber * Miley Cyrus * rebecca black (I mean SERIOUSLY!) *…
  • use the quick add, to add a calorie - though you may end up with negative calories when you through up or have the runs
  • then this is very misleading "The UK still officially uses an 11% limit on sugar set 22 years ago by the SACN's predecessor"
  • That is actually a common mistake... their AVERAGE age was 3-4 times lower, but you forget that their infant mortality was through the roof, so for each child that dies at birth/first year, you need to have a person that lived to 60 to average him out to 30, etc. (this is basic statistics) - in case you are interested here…

  • I guess we differ on what we think is healthy  A whole separate discussion, but lets just leave it that I beleive that fat has got a bad reputation, and I don't shy away from it. I think next time, I make a recipe I repeat, I will take the time to measure it and factor that in - Thanks
  • Great thread indeed, and I agree a must read... OP - I suggest you read it...
  • Fine - lets say that the effect is different for people with high body fat percentages - a 1300 calorie diet for a grown man IMHO is not safe - in fact even caloric deficit preachers limit the calorie deficit to 1800 for men and 1200 for women, which brings me to - caloric deficit is NOT the only parameter for weight loss!…
  • Sorry, my post was actually posted twice... so ignore this one...
  • That is great! I am on a low carb diet (that also obviously cuts my sugars), for the past 10 days I am averaging at 37gr of sugar a day... I am currently doing a 20% carb (100gr), 30% protein and 50% fat, and I feel great (and not doing too bad on the scales either)
  • I am sure that would have been delicious, but the kids don't like it for some reason, and I am low carbing it
  • This is real! Have a look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Starvation_Experiment it is a study that was done 60 years ago in minnesota (when research was done without funding by food/diet companies) - it was a very simple experiment - take a group of men, limit them to 1500 calories a day for a period of…
  • So from what I understand the big debate is reducing sugar from currently being 11% to 10%? I am sure that will completely shock the system, and effectively solve the obesity in the UK  If they really want to help... rethink that stupid food pyramid, reducing carbs (sugars, starch, the lot) to no more than 20%, and…
  • To be honest, this is more a point of curiosity, than a something that is bothering me too much... for the heck of it, I will try to weigh it and see how significant it is - I was just struck yesterday by the sheer amount of the fatty liquid I was left with
  • So true... carbs - unless they are fiber, are metabolized to sugar... bread, pasta, cookies, pastries, were the death of me... 5 weeks ago, in my annual checkup, I came as borderline diabetic with triglycerides through the roof... 5 weeks diet, one of them juice cleanse and 4 weeks of low-carb, high-fat diet, and my…

  • Seems like a sleepy group here... Hi, I am an Athiest Israeli in north jersey/NYC area (so Atheist Jew if you will  ) I guess my biggest pet peeve is the basic vanity ingrained into religious beliefs of "the power of prayer" - as in, if there was a god, why are your priers and petty wishes (please god, I want to…
  • Sorry to be the minority vote here, but sugars in excess can be very bad for you! That said, look at your carbs more than the content of sugar within them, is a fair statement - and in regards to that, the amount of sugar that is normally in your blood is about a tablespoon, 300gr of carbs (FDA recommendation for a 2000…

  • Thanks, so far I find the app is a great motivator, since I log my calories as soon as I eat, or prepare the food, always aware of where I am, how much I have left, etc.
  • Geesh, everyone is a joker here, got to love it! Anyhow, as for clenses - I started my diet with the Joe Cross 5 day reboot (you will need a juicer, and a ton of veggie and fruit). I can't really recommend it that much, even though it kind of worked, I did this with my wife, I was very organized and had a juice every 2…
