  • Happy New Year everyone. Don't give up if you've just had a blow out over Xmas. I'm back on the bandwagon tomorrow. Just weighed in, and taken measurements. Only someone with no thyroid can understand putting on 8 kilos in 2 weeks! But for the first time in my life I am past beating myself up about it. Off we go again…
  • I'd add something to what you said. Too much T4 doesn't necessarily just float around and it's not expelled by the body. Too much T4 can actually give you hypER symptoms, whilst also being hypO from lack of T3. This is the mess I've found myself in for years. I just wasn't right, so doctors over the years just kept…
  • Oh wow...we can all learn something from others. I just learned from you that the phone phobia I've had for 20 years is probably due to this as well. Bizarre that you even mentioned it but so cool!
  • Seriously, the TSH test means nothing in the grand scheme of things. There are so many things a person SHOULD be tested for. When my doctor got serious about this there were 2 pages of tests. And they all matter because they are all things related or affected by ongoing Thyroid disease. In Australia our soils are so…
  • Yes, I didn't put on any weight during my pregnancy, but I was thyroid toxic :ohwell:
  • I'm Aussie but I do Atkins and generally keep to myself. Nice to see some local faces :o)
  • Yeah...seriously...you're talking about your health here. It always concerns me when people become so fanatical about something that they have lost sight of the real issue. Take what you need to get in control of your migraines. Just do it. Is there an actual reason for not wanting to take the meds? Do they affect you in…
  • Hi everyone Thank you for your responses :) I eat plenty of fat, but then some days I wonder if I'm eating too much, not enough, just enough. Fat isn't something that's easy for me to 'count' due to fat on protein, how much renders down etc. For example I might throw in a tbs of olive oil or coconut oil and fry steak, but…
  • I'm surprised your doctor suggested it. I told my doctor I was doing Atkins and he does NOT support me. We did some bloods and my cholesterol is 'in range' for the first time in over 20 years and he changed his mind ;)
  • I'm not sure but I think I'm in week 6 or 7 now and I'm still in Induction because I have a lot of weight to lose. I've lost 6 kilos all up because for almost 2 weeks in there I actually gained a bit over a kilo. I had a birthday where I had cake on one of those days, but only the one day and I was back in Ketosis by the…
  • What exactly is the challenge?
  • Are they spammers or scammers? Or are they scamming spammers? Or maybe even spamming scammers? The mind boggles...
  • I'm doing Atkins, so high protein, high fat, and low carb. I've lost 6 kilos so far and finding it incredibly easy to stick to. Far easier than counting calories. And my cholesterol is in range for the first time in 20 years :)
  • :flowerforyou:
  • Following. I've been taking 200mcg T4 for 20+ years after a partial thyroidectomy and have been hypo symptomatic ever since. Only just found a doctor willing to run more tests including adrenal function. I have no doubt whatsoever that I have adrenal fatigue. Just like I have always known I was hypo even though my TFT's…
  • I have no idea how to post a photo on here, so I'm hoping this link will work. I too used the 'I'm just big boned' excuse all my life. Until I saw this... http://www.kulfoto.com/interesting-things/24389/fat-woman-x-ray

  • Pork chop and microwaved cheese crispy things...for dinner. I'm doing low carb long term and had eaten all my veges/salad at brekky and lunch.
  • I know sleep deprivation. I know what it does to you. I know how debilitating it is. You have my empathy and my sympathy. I have one saying in life 'this too shall pass'...this isn't forever...don't beat yourself up too much. Hang on a little longer and you'll find your groove :flowerforyou:
  • I read on here that there is a 'week 2' issue of not losing much weight...I didn't in week 2. Lost bugger all...but after that it's been coming off easily. Stick with it :)
  • Oh I've eaten that sort of food for years and years and loved it sooooo much. And now here I am on MFP ;)
  • ^^ Awesome effort...now I have to go calculate that into kilos ;)
  • Oh...that will teach me to put my glasses on! You're eating enough protein! Ha! The fat thing is a worry for all of us at the beginning I think...because in our heads we believe it's 'wrong'. But scientifically Atkins is proven, and you NEED the fat/oil. My take on it is that when I eat fat on bacon, and I nibble at a…
  • Oh wow...thanks Dev. I didn't know you could do that in all the years I've used this site. Ha! I could never go back to calorie counting after doing Atkins. I'm just eating too well and still losing and feeling better than I ever have. For me, even when I'm not losing I still consider the whole thing. I have more energy. I…
  • How do you set a protein/fat/carbs ratio into your daily logging? I can't find how to do that anywhere...on the Atkins page it automatically shows you a graph of your percentages, but that's about the only good thing that site has I reckon :(
  • 'Honey', it's aggressive people like you who make it impossible for every day people to post on here. You may need to go get your testosterone levels checked. FFS!
  • cnm if you're hungry, eat protein...Atkins can be a bit of an expensive way to eat because meat is quite expensive and you really do have to be organised. Always have protein at home to eat. Counting calories as well as doing Atkins probably isn't going to work too well to be honest. You must have a certain amount of…
