  • Thanks for the advice. Appreciated. 👍
  • Only read OP so if someone else said this already, sorry. Personally I think it is really good, and brave, of your mum to tell you her concern. So many people comment when you lose weight, hardly anyone does when you gain. I wish my loved ones had expressed their concern for my weight gain. Maybe I would have sorted myself…
  • I call *kitten*. A doctor thinks an active fifteen year old needs to lose 10kgs (22lbs) because of a sore foot? 10kgs is just vanity weight and in a fifteen year old is just "puppy fat" needed by the body as it goes through the hormonal roller coaster ride of becoming a woman. A doctor recommends weight loss for a sore…
  • When I first started bench press I started on the Smith machine. When I was able to press 25kg I switched to free weight bench press with just the empty bar. So it is a useful tool to help you get started. If you are wondering why I went to 25kg and not 20kgs the Smith machine helps a lot and I wasn't developing the small…
  • For me it was the calories the other way...I was surprised by how few calories were in a portion of rice compared to what I thought it would be. The realisation was a game changer for me.
  • Mine dropped too. Can't tell you the actual numbers offhand, but yes, it's a thing.
  • I totally understand what you are saying...There are so many things I have done in my life that when they near completion I start to slow down or backtrack or make excuses. For me, I get into a routine and it's unnerving knowing that I don't know what will happen once I achieve the goal. I love a plan and routine. May I…
  • [/quote] It's definitely a lot worse now I've gained weight, so I think I'll try to get my weight down first, this time with exercise, see if that helps. I don't know if it's just my body type as I've never really seen others with the same problem, not to the same extent anyway. It's like the stomach doesn't belong on my…
  • Going out, for me, is a treat. I don't do it often so when I do I don't feel bad about having a starter, main and dessert However, going out 5 nights a week means it is no longer a treat. I wouldnt feel sad that I am missing dessert because I know I will be going out tomorrow and can have it then. There would be less FOMO…
  • How did it go overall? Did your weight fluctuate much? How did you cope mentally? Or did you just not weigh in at all so you didn't psych yourself out?
  • To help me stop wishing for the goodies colleagues bring to work, I imagine that someone has just sneezed all over them. :D
  • Best suggestion so far. Implying it has been done to death and needs to end now. Personally I'd throw in a, "can we move on now?" at the end.
  • Brush your teeth when you are done with food for the evening.
  • Well this thread blew up! Just got home and just caught up. Firstly thank you everyone for your thoughts, tough love and support. To address a few things; the person who commented that I struggle with balance is 100% correct. I am an all or nothing kind of person. (Let's face it, if I was able to be well balanced I…
  • Hey all, glad to read all your input and concerns for me losing my gains! I completely understand that I will be losing muscle as well as fat right now, but I am only looking at dropping another 10lbs (so not a massive amount and shouldn't take too long) and I have very little wiggle room when it comes to calories…
  • A couple of things could be happening; when you first start exercise you hold on to more water to help your muscles repair. So if you are achy/sore still, chances are you are retaining water. The other factor at play is how your diet (noun) has changed. When I changed my diet (noun) I ate more veg and upped my protein.…
  • I don't think it's in your head. Your goal person has more rounded, developed shoulders and biceps. It harder to tell quad and hamstrings development as your legs aren't quite at the same depth an angle.
  • I cut out snack entirely so I could have bigger, more satisfying 3 meals. Only took about a week and a bit for my stomach to get used to not expecting something at 10 and 3.
  • I would consider starting the program "Stronglifts 5x5" and following it for at least 6 months. It is a simple program that I found got me used to going to the gym regularly, got me used to how to put the weight on bars and do simple exercises that are giving you strength, but also the opportunity to watch others use other…
  • The poison is in the dose.
  • Ahhh yes, the 'click moment' that's exactly what I need. Don't think it can be forced though.
  • Hey, thanks for taking the time to read/reply. It is appreciated. :) As to your advice I'm definitely not being to strict on calories. Bearing in mind I'm short, sedentary job but 5 days of lifting I'm at 1600ish. Except when I give in to the doughnut, chocolate, cookies etc. I just can't seem to focus up and be…
  • Reverse diet estimate is to add back 100 cals every two weeks. But see how your body responds. If you are still losing then make it 200 every two weeks.
  • If I use it to dip banana and strawberries it's healthy right?....right??
  • I am glad to hear I am not the only one unable to resist the delicious charms of Nutella. For those if you with iron wills I salute you!
  • I definitely drop weight when I am eating low carb. The main reason I avoid it though is my breath gets unpleasant. Would rather lose weight slower than have poo breath.
  • What sorcery is this? The ability to stop after one serving? I will follow you to the ends of the earth if you would teach me this power, master.
  • You can lose weight without doing a stitch of exercise. Exercise is for overall health of your body. As far as weight loss is concerned it won't matter that you exercise every day if you are eating too much. Your body will be healthier, but you won't lose weight. Just wanted to clarify the point.
  • I think I have mastered the added protein powder! Sprinkle on after the oats have microwaved, then mix in! I'm rubbish in the kitchen so this feels like a real victory☺ Sadly, it didn't really keep me full for any longer.
