  • This may seem far fetched, but it could be that you are still growing. It might have been your last little growth spurt! The good news is that if you do have extra fat on your legs, that is an area that I have noticed responds really well to strength training! (Unlike your belly, which won't go away no matter how many…
  • Hey everyone, I need to come here and confess! I have given up and it is showing on the scale. Back in Oct and Nov, I really started using MFP and dropped about 15 pounds in that time. Then something changed and I just stopped losing. Part holidays, part financial stress, and probably a big part because I was nearing going…
  • I like this! Thanks for posting it! :flowerforyou:
  • Go Pats! Oh wait? Not this year?!
  • ER!!! Still on, but I feel like I am losing an old friend!!!
  • Are you eatting your exercise calories? If you are, then you might want to try upping your goals. If you are set to 2lbs loss a week, change it to 1lb a week. A lot of times, that is a sign that your body wants more calories and is now trying to hold onto weight. It will change if you give your body the calories.…
  • My Wii Fit tells me I am obese! My poor little mii is so round! I have had a few conversations with my Wii Fit about this problem and it ignores me!!! Congrats on getting into the normal range! That is fantastic. My Wii Fit usually weighs me about 3 or 4 pounds heavier, but I usually do the body test at night (with…
  • I definitely am drinking more than I used to. I do better on some days than others. I drink a little more diet coke than I should, but pretty close to my 8 cups on most days! I learned this one a few months back... wish those 3 pounds I lost just from drinking water would happen every week!!
  • Trust me when I say I am the first person advocating for this is 99% of the cases. I have read everything and have been here a long time. But I'm not losing! So do I drop my goals to a level that I am unlikely to reach or do I stop eatting the exercise calories (without going below a 1000 calorie deficit)?
  • Have you read the newbie thread yet? I think in my case it works, but not in all cases. Especially if you have a low goal set. Since my goal is so high, I think it could work out, but you have to do the math. Would you have a higher than 1000 calorie deficit? Are you dropping below 1200 calories for the day? Also, 1800…
  • I think I am going to call myself a "brain worker" for a few days and see what reactions I get!
  • So here is my current situation... I came back to MFP in October and did great! I lost about 15 pounds in almost a month and a half. I hit some sort of a wall at that point (mental, physical.... not sure!) and stopped losing. From there, the holidays happened and I watched the numbers on the scale creep back up. Right now,…
  • I totally agree with this! :flowerforyou:
  • This is totally what I do. I have read up a little on the subject, too. My thing is that I can lose weight up until I am about to hit a goal and then I miraculously can't lose anymore. In fact, I tend to gain a bit back after. My other stop sign is when people start to comment on the loss. It is so frustrating and I have…
  • I really love this answer and totally second it! :flowerforyou:
  • Is it food that really makes life fulfulling? If it is, maybe you should start asking yourself what you are really hungry for... Have your ice cream on the beach, your beer when you are out with friends, and whatever else is you want... but have less of it! Nothing should be off limits. Also, when you learn to start loving…
  • Wow, you really are almost there! Good for you! Your success is really inspiring. :flowerforyou:
  • It takes some adjustments. Do you cook or does he cook? After a year, I have been slowly able to talk the boyfriend into eatting healthier foods. I even talked him into tofu one night! Basically, if I find a tasty recipe, he'll go for it. You may just have to do your own thing or modify what he is doing. You'll get there!…
  • You have to learn to listen to your body. I know that after years of binging I was really good at not hearing anything my body said! You do have the off alarm, but you can't hear it right now. Try checking out books by Geneen Roth to get some more info about it. Your body does send the signals, it is just what you do with…
  • This is probably my third or fourth time coming back and trying to be as dedicated as possible. I don't really think about it as quitting and restarting though. For me, it is more about doing the best that I can and trying as hard as I can. I would like to be here all the time and do everything I am supposed to, but it…
  • I think we have to be careful about the doctor's advice when it comes to diet and nutrition. I know this sounds backwards, but it seems like doctors all have different perspectives and may not be following up to date information. On other issues, the doctor is the way to go!
  • Congrats! That is great! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • That is a good reminder. Thanks! Thinking about you and your bf. :flowerforyou:
  • Keep up the walking! Maybe start a little smaller for now? Try 15 or 20 minutes a day and then work up to 30 minutes a day. You don't want to be hurting so bad that you can't stand straight. Even a little bit is a big step in the right direction. Stay within your goals, do some exercise, and you will lose weight.…
  • Thats a complicated situation and you are definitely not the only person dealing with something like that. Professional help would be a good step to dealing with the binging, especially since you know it is a reaction to your past. It can help. I feel like we have to deal with the emotions first (I can be a binger, too)…
  • Don't freak out over 9 calories!! Do the best you can do. Some days will be a little over and some will be a little under. Do the best you can and you will lose in the long run.
  • I think it is good to work in high calorie days once in a while. It keeps your metabolism guessing and keeps you from going sane. The key to that is only doing it once in a while though... that is the tricky part!!
  • I have the same debate with myself. I have read a little bit by Geneen Roth. She really advocates for listening to your body. I also read one a while ago called, "Why Women Love Chocolate" or something like that. I thank that approach for the first 50 pounds, but it did take me seven years! I strongly believe that we need…
  • Eat them and read the newbie thread. :flowerforyou:
  • The scale can make you crazy some times. Just keep doing what you are doing and the scale will catch up with you. I fluctuate like crazy, but as long as you eventually have an overall downward trend then you are good. If things don't change after a few days, then look at your goals. Are you eatting enough?
