Every little bit counts, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We get to our goals with babysteps, and every one is a victory to me!

I want to loose 20 overall, but 10 is my first goal. Also planning on changing my fitness routine from 1-2 yoga classes to add on weights and cardio so I may even be happy with myself at that point. I'm definitely in!

Working with people with disabilities for 20 years taught me both respect and patience. Everyone should be shown both until they prove themselves unworthy of it, IMHO. One of my favorite quotes is "Be kind, always. Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about"

I wouldn't know how to re-calibrate either scale as they are both digital, but that's a really good idea. See which one is closer to reality.

Awesome!!! You should be really proud of yourself. My husband has Celiac so GF isn't an option for him. I am using my son as my excuse not to go GF - If I won't eat his leftovers, a lot of food will go to waste, and being a headstrong teen, he won't go GF. He eats little enough that I can't cut it out for him.....

Thank you so much! I could not figure out how to do this - when I went into apps the vivofit 2 doesn't show up, so I could not figure this out either.

I love this quote.

Do not let people tell you that "starvation mode" is a myth. My husband (6'4" linebacker build) was desperate to loose weight and for many years under ate. when he finally got with a nutritionist (before websites like this existed) and logged his food, he found that he was eating 1400 to 1600 calories a day, all healthy…

yes, it can be. And low cholesterol does not necessarily lower your risk for heart problems. sciencedaily.com is a great resource for the latest research.

I am sedentary most of the week, so I move much more on the weekends, which allows me to go out to eat, and not be as strict. Think about if your activity level is higher before beating yourself up.

1-2 pieces of Dove dark chocolate gets me satisfied. I don't pop a whole one in my mouth, rather make each square 2-3 small bites and savor the. I love them, not sick sweet, and chocolate makes me feel better. If I'm hungry and craving sweets, a tablespoon of peanut butter covered in chocolate chips hits the spot.

I have been hearing about the infrared lights. Wonder how that works? I am wondering why only PTs seem to be using it as part of an exercise regime, in general.

I love all of these ideas! My fav is with cranberry sauce - the whole berry kind. just a little....

It is a device developed by the Russians for their cosmonaut program. The goal was to increase bone density and improve muscle tone for their astronauts before and after space travel. Well, it works, and there are a whole bunch of other clinically researched and documented benefits as well. One person on another thread…

I have been shocked by a lot of foods, but I am surprised how many people are cutting out healthy fats, the ones that help your body in so many ways, because of calories! I would rather have a handful of nuts for a snack over something else that appears to be "more" because those nuts keep me feeling full longer than the…

Most definitely! My husband is much heavier than I am - he is a bigger person at 6' 3" and a linebacker's build, but he has gained almost 100 lbs since we got married (23 years ago) I am only about 15 lbs heavier than when we got married, and he does not care. But I care. I care more about his health than he does, and I…

I'm back again as well. I had maintained a higher than desired baseline weight for 20 years, and recently (over the last 6 months or so) gained over 10 lbs that won't come back off. The last time I weighed this much, I was pregnant with my son 18 years ago! I can't do this any more! I want to loose 40 lbs, and get in…

I just got one. There IS a lot of science behind them - they were developed by the Russian Cosmonaut program, primarily to maintain/improve bone density in astronauts, but they have documented many more benefits as well. While it does not take the place of "real" exercise, it can help a lot for people who can't, for…

You can also put the foods that you plan on using the most into your "My meals" tab and use that instead of the other tabs.

I have also lost my streak due to not having internet access. I wish we could count those days if we went in and logged our food/exercise for those days.

Just plan crash days after you start. Post exertional malaise may kick your *kitten* when you start back up. Do not push yourself too much when you start. Fibro is classified as a nerve condition, but the pain felt is muscular and often joint pain. Different people feel it in different ways. we have differences (that can…

I remind myself that health is not a number. I have friends that are heavier than me, but healthier. My goal is to get healthier, and the number on the scale is one measurement of this.

I've been told that I sound sanctimonious but will tell you my trick anyway. Not sure if it would help with the late night snacks, but it helps me stay away from my husband and sons snacks. They are all plastic. I look at them and tell myself that they are fake plastic food, therefore inedible. I grew up in a house with…

(Hugs) be good to yourself right now, and remember that if you don't take care of yourself, you will be no good to anyone else. I know that is easier said than done, but it is true!

I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Not really a moment, but a refusal to keep buying bigger clothes. Also, diabetes and heart problems run in my family. I also have Sjorens Disease and want to do everything that I can to stay relatively healthy for as long as I can.

I love the one about not "becoming " something. Makes me think of the leaves in the fall. Thier beauty shows after what is no longer needed goes away.

Totally agree. Let's lift each other up!

I'm also trying to get back on the wagon. Community helps, a lot. Nice to see others in the same boat. Baby stepping it this time.

I hope you are still on here... I took quite a hiatus from MFP and am just getting back on track. I totally agree with you. I have a dog. If I don't walk him 2x a day, every day, I feel so much worse. I may not want to do it, I may hurt like hell before stepping out of the door. But I feel better after. Even if, like you,…
