You guys mention stretching, stretching, stretching.....when I picture stretching, I think of touching my toes and stuff like that. "Cool down" stuff after, say, a kick-boxing workout. What specific stretches are you doing?

I think the easy accessability of crappy, convenient snacks + less physical activity has gotten us in the situation we're in.

We were watching some show about couples and somebody said "he/she is my rock". I asked my husband if I was his rock, and without skipping a beat he said, "Oh yeah. Without a doubt. You're definitely my rock. I don't know what I'd do without you". We're not overly sentimental, so I don't hear this a lot. It was sweet.

This is so right! It's weird wrapping my brain around that concept.

I watched this show last night and I thought it was fascinating! I was shocked that they can just take blood from you, check out your DNA and tell you what exercise works best for you, or if it will even benefit you like previously thought. The fact that three 20 second increments of HIIT 3 times a week is as beneficial as…

I get up and workout at 5:00 a.m. and leave for work from the gym. That way, in the evening, I have total free time to spend with my 4 year old. Also, I will either do a pilates DVD at home, or Zumba on the Wii and sometimes my kiddo will jump in. He thinks it's hilarious to mess with me while I'm doing pilates - then it…

This is brilliant! Thanks for the awesome idea!

I think anyone with kids has felt the same way you do...your post truly brought tears to my eyes. You're an amazing person for making it through your journey, and incredible for allowing your daughter to have this positive influence on your life. This WILL change her life, and it WILL allow her to see success through her…

I warm up for about 10 minutes, then lift, then do about 20-30 more minutes of cardio.

I wish I had a helpful response, but I'm merely posting here because I was wondering the EXACT SAME THING and was hoping to get an answer as well. I saw the infomercial for it and was in love, but I who knows what it's really like.

I was squatting with about 70 lbs when I noticed pain in my hip and numbness all the way down to my toes. I had an MRI and it turns out there was a labral tear in my hip. I can't do lunges or squats any more, it's a major bummer. Stretches like yoga or pilates seem to help though.
-
I feel the burn when I put my weight on my heels, enough to wiggle my toes for the duration of the squat.

I cannot function without my Polar FT4. I forget I have the strap on. It communicates wirelessly. I would never get an HRM without a chest strap. IMO, it's the most important key to weight loss.

Alright so TDEE - 500 gave me a number that is pretty high. Well, higher than my previous setting. I had my cals set up to 1500 and now it's set to 1684. This makes me nervous!
-
It was a Bod Pod test, and I didn't have another test done after that.
-
RMR is 1437 and TDEE is 2184 with the "low active" setting that came with the test paperwork - I have a desk job and workout 3-4 times a week for about an 30-60 minutes.

Thanks, Karen. That's basically the answer I was looking for. I'm trying to lose about a pound a week. I guess I'm trying to find out that "magic number" that I should eat in order to lose.

My sweet husband bought me Zumba Core for the Wii. I have been going to Zumba classes for like 3 years now, and I still go (nothing beats the real class) but I absolutely LOVE this game. In the mornings before work, I do a "medium length" class (around 45 minute) and I burn 450-500 calories. I really love doing the high…

I don't know if this has been posted yet but you don't have to buy EVERYTHING organic. http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/ss/slideshow-to-buy-or-not-to-buy-organic

I sleep in my gym clothes and pack my gym bag the night before. I set it up so the only thing I have to do is brush my teeth and go. I put my shoes, HRM and towel on my gym bag and put it right by the door.

IMO, this isn't one of those "typical dumb guy moments". You don't need to answer to him; to explain to him your goals, your lifestyle change. Life's way too short to worry about this crap. There are guys out there who don't care about your weight. There are. There are guys out there who know how to phrase sentences…

I "plateaued" when I switched from just cardio to a heavy lifting program and upped my calories 400 cals. I became discouraged and lost motivation. An injury from lifting didn't help this. I've only gained 5 lbs since then, but man it's discouraging. I'm beginning to think plateaus are more a test of determination and…

This article is just insane! I can't wrap my head around it. It really makes you think if the only thing making people unhealthy is just that we cram too much food in our mouths.

Started dating my husband summer of 2006, he moved in in the fall. We decided to get married in January of 2007, actually got married in June 2007. Sheesh that seems really quick. I've known my husband for nearly 15 years, he's always been close to my fam. We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary this year. :drinker:
