  • This sounds like my kind of diet. I'm never hungry in the morning. I am starving at lunchtime. And I only eat in the evening if its put in front of me (which it usually is).. I'm going to get myself organised and make lunchtime my one and only meal time. Has to work.. Most of the food I seem to eat is because it is just…
  • I'm 46, need to loose 35/40 lbs. Have recently been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism - which means it will be a little harder to loose weight. I asked the doctor what I should do to help my weight loss. He said - I've a very easy program to loose weight - guaranteed to work - just don't put it in your mouth! Works every…
  • I'm 5'5" tall and weigh 157 lbs. I fit a UK size 14 (US size 12). At my lightest - way back 20 yrs ago, I weighed 120 and fitted into a UK size 10 (US size 8) In my wildest dreams I will never get smaller than a UK size 10 (US 8).. If I could just get to a UK Size 12 (US 10) I'd be super happy!!
  • You lost about 15 yrs in age aswell as weight. Looking super.. Well done..
  • I sweat terribly. In work I have to be careful what I wear just in case you can see the sweat on my back.. Yuck.. In work its the heating at 22c which kills me. I'd like it about 17c. Most of the rest of the staff complain that the place is cold?? I cannot wear wool - will sweat terribly. I have a summer duvet on my bed…
  • This.. Started a C25K course this summer. Really really enjoyed it and even though we are all running 5k now, we still meet 3 times a week as a group to keep up our running. Its social and its free. I do need to loose weight badly, but I'm not in that place as yet to log food and get organised. But I am fitter. I have had…
  • Don't run from a dog that has approached you. If you do, the dog takes this as fear and if the dog has territorial issues or aggression issues, it will go after you and potentially bite you to warn you off its patch. Don't stare at a dog when you are running towards it. To a dominant dog that is you taking him on. I always…
  • Porridge oats with warm milk for breakfast! And as I was sitting in work eating them, remembered I had lovely blueberries at home I could have added to it! Oh well, will eat them tomorrow!
  • Yip, definitely a savage canine there.. I've 3 cats and a dog ( all rescues) and a retired horse (although not sure she thinks she should be retired!!) Lol
  • ?? Can you do that again, but in English! Lols...
  • We don't normally tip in Ireland. You'd tip a taxi driver, hairdresser, food delivery person etc, but in bars, restaurants - you don't normally leave a tip (restaurant you'd round up the bill as a tip - not a % of the bill) But when I go on holidays to the US, tipping always has me in a panic. I spent a fantastic night in…
  • This... Totally agree.. Would eat Mayo with everything. But want tonnes of it. Just a scrape of it is no good. So its either the whole hog or none at all for me too!! :ohwell:
  • Did C25K last year and completed a 5k run at the end of Feb'13.. Then did nothing!! So started from scratch again yesterday! Found it quite easy - though I think the memory of my first week last time made me think it was going to be hell.. I've also remembered to SLOW DOWN.. I'm so bad at pacing I usually take off like I'm…
  • I'm 45, 5'5" tall, am 11 stone and have extremely high cholesterol - 9.7 was the reading before I had to take statins. I had been tested 2 yrs ago and had a reading of 7.2. At this point my doctor gave me a diet with foods to avoid etc. Stuck to it well - admit a few failures, but I figure 90% good, 10% bad. Still my…
  • I just want to give you a huge hug.. I've no advice. I think we all struggle in our own way.. The only thing I can think of saying is - don't put so much reliance on the scale number. Look in the mirror and use your clothes as a measure. Measure inches - not weight.. I started with training 3 times a week with a trainer on…
  • I'm on this boat!! In my teens and 20's I ate anything and everything and never gained a lb. Had my son at 21 yrs old. Went from 8st 5lbs to 11st and within 2 months of him being born I was back to 9st. And I hovered around 9st - 9st 5lb until my mid 30's with no issues whatsoever. Suddenly I'm in my mid 40's and I'm 11st…
  • Started strength and flexability training in late Jan Personal Bests so far 75 kg squat 100kg dead lift The 100kg was only last week. 1 rep - but I was so proud of myself.. Real motivation to keep at it as my starting best was 75kg..
  • Oooohhhh. Never heard of that. I'd love to know why. I know I need my headphones so I know how far I've done and I've got my music to keep me motivated and not thinking about my breathing.
  • See, common sense is worth a fortune!! I have Nike+ on my phone and it tells me when I've ran 1k.. All I need to do is check on my time and I'll know whether I'm too fast or not.. Blushing here.. Why didn't I think of that? Thank you for that!! I might make it as a runner after all.. And only sprint when I need to ! :)
  • How I wish I could be a slow runner.. In my teens I was a sprinter. And a quick one at that. Loved that I could go faster than most. But when I sprinted, I took a deep breath and I was gone like a rocket.. Now, I'm well, well past my teens!! I am trying to get back to running. I want to run 5k's and enjoy them.. Well, its…
  • Apologies not needed. What a wonderful post. If only there were more like you in the world. Hate only begets hate. Smile and the world will smile with you.. I live by the motto, "what goes round, comes round". So treat people in the way you wish to be treated. And for those that spout meanness and vileness - pity them -…
  • Oohhh, now theres a tip. I love crisps - my total downfall. Finding it very hard to stay away. I've toasted pumpkin seeds until they puff up a bit, put a tiny bit of coconut oil in and added salt - so it helps the salt craving and the crunch of crisps. But it doesn't help the salt intake really. Melba toast - now thats a…
  • Quit 2nd Jan 2014 = 32 days ago Saved Euro 311. Haven't smoked 656 cigerattes Life Gained = 6 days.. Getting there. Not easy but oh so worth it!!
  • Being able to make an income no matter where you are is fantastic. Go for it. I'm also someone who dreads hitting 60 wondering "what if".. I'm a bit desk bound with my job, but I'm working hard with the plan of retiring at 60. But while I'm working towards that aim, I trying to get through my "list".. Mainly horse related!…
  • Started C25K in late Dec / early Jan. Stuck to the programme. Found W1D1 an absolute killer - thought I'd have a heart attack and the next hardest was W4D1? No idea why but it nearly killed me again. But kept at it. You'll be shocked at how quick your fitness builds up. I ran my one and only 5k race on the the 23rd Feb.…
  • Don't be. Honestly, everyone there is in the same boat. Just get into the rythym and go. I got huge motivation from the other runners. While I was walking after the 4k mark, I was trying to beat myself up to run again. I saw people passing me - they were breathing heavy, some were barely going faster than walk, you could…
  • Eh, not sure I'll sign up for a half marathon just yet!! Although I am still on a high 2 days after my 5k - so what must a half marathon high be like!! Birthday tomorrow - 44 yrs on this beautiful earth.. Managed to tick the 5k box just before the birthday.. Good present to myself me thinks.... If I'm ever mad enough to…
  • Thanks everyone. I was so so happy to get across that line. And to realise I can now actually say - Yes, I run!! Wow!! I just have to work on NOT panicing about the breathing. If I don't think of it, I'm fine. Once I try to control it, I panic.. And then build up the distance. And finally build up the speed. That was one…
  • Tayto Crisps - that are calling to me from the canteen vending machine.. I've resisted every day since last Monday - thats 8 days.. Love my crisps.. Bringing in almonds and walnuts to snack on instead.. At times though, its darn hard to resist.. 8 days and counting.. Yippee!!!
  • Hi Mairead I'm in Dublin too.. Feel free to friend me.. I'm a sneaky MFP'er. Love reading the Success stories for motivation. Am 4 weeks into Couch to 5k.. Cannot believe I can run for 5 mins straight!! Day 1 nearly killed me, but its got a lot better since then.. By better I mean, I don't think I need an ambulance after…
