  • Lots and lots (and lots!) of Canadians sprinkled throughout MFP. :) New Westminster, BC checking in. :flowerforyou:
  • Hummus....in particular Fontaine Sante caramelized onion flavor......there is no other brand that tastes this wonderful to me! I buy it Costco-sized and it doesn't last long. It's not MY fault that it says right on the package: "Best consumed within 5 days after opening", right??
  • I just turned 55 and am 5'4" with a medium build. I look and feel my best at between 125-130lbs. I'm short-waisted and pear-shaped so any extra weight is really noticeable. SW = 200lbs CW = 129lbs GW = somewhere around where i am now :) Doing my best to maintain and hoping that the upcoming cold weather doesn't trigger any…
  • Everyone struggling with weight issues should have to read this line on a daily basis. Thanks for posting the reminder! :flowerforyou:
  • I can't eat white flour (or any other wheat or gluten containing food). Eat it: feel agonizing pain Don't eat it: feel like a normal person Wasn't a difficult "forever" choice. Now if we're talking sugar? You'd have a battle on your hands if you tried to take away my fruits and vegetables. OR my now-and-then treat of dark…
  • Can you all please type more slowly? Posts are appearing faster than I can read. I started the thread when it was 17 pages long. I'm currently on page 15 and just noticed there are now 19 pages. At this rate I'll never get to the end!!! Thanks for your consideration. :flowerforyou:
  • Only a few select people know my actual weight number - and they are my daily supporters. They've been with me since the very beginning. A few co-workers have actually asked me if I'm "okay" as they noticed I've lost weight. I don't look ill, I guess they just noticed the difference suddenly and were concerned. If someone…
  • LOVE your attitude Jennifer! If you can keep this in the back of your mind at all times and revisit it each time you feel the challenge is too great (and believe me, there will be those times!) you'll do well. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming posts. :flowerforyou:
  • WW worked well for me (hence my user name) and when I decided to lose a few final pounds I went back to them (for free, as I'm a lifetime member). They had changed to the Points Plus program which honestly didn't make any sense to me after having been quite successful maintaining using their 'old' Points program for so…
  • I've now watched this (way more than) a few times and I think it's my new all-time favorite gif.
  • Until September 20th it's about 3 minutes to drive, 4 minutes if I hit the light and 15 minutes to walk (but I don't). I moved here to regain the minimum two hours a day I spent on the road for the seven years prior. After the 20th, it'll be about 10 minutes in the morning and anywhere from 20 to 30 on the way home. My…
  • Happy to hear you're doing so much better! I have celiac disease and was just diagnosed in December. I stopped eating gluten and felt amazing changes within just a few days. I'd suffered unknowingly for over 40 years so it was quite a drastic difference. I had excruciating back pain that had me going for nuclear bone scans…
  • Nothing he actually said but my lame-*kitten* father brought me a pair of his jeans and told me to try them on. I told him I didn't want to but he insisted. I was about 16 years old at the time and not that heavy - probably about 125 or so. I put the danged pants on and they were way too big. He was disappointed and it…
  • Hah! I'm the person who organizes every single potluck in our Division of 70 people four times a year. I never participate. I'm WAY too picky about food preparation to eat what someone else has made. (Plus I have celiac disease and can't risk it anyway) OP, I've taken a group of my administrative staff members out to a…
  • Very close! I call it a match - right down to 29 in my mind! Haha! :flowerforyou:
  • I track: Iron Fat Protein Fiber Carbs I used to track sugar but I eat so much fruit that I was constantly in the red. I read more than once in the forums that if you don't have a health reason to worry about sugar intake, it's relatively safe to ignore what you're getting with the fruit. I agree with other posters who…
  • Female 55 next Saturday 5' 4" CW: 132 I can't eat gluten so my diet (the noun) is rather basic
  • I measure every single thing, every single time. I even take my scale on vacation with me. Right now I am eating 181 grams of Jazz apple, 113 grams of Cara orange and 82 grams of yogurt. :) It's a habit and it's kind of fun to try and guess how close I can eyeball (not very.....which is why I weigh!)
  • ^^This. First thought I had. (I have celiac)
  • Anything with gluten (I have celiac disease) which means most of the fun stuff. Anything with xanthan or guar gum as an ingredient, which means most of the fun gluten free stuff. I haven't eaten red meat for 40 years. Other than that, it's all fair game!
  • Met my ex when I was a foster parent for a special needs child. He was the driver who picked her up to take her to her day-program. He told me years later that the moment he saw me he knew we'd be married at some point. Had two great kids and are still very friendly towards one another. Met my current SO on Facebook. He…
  • Today, for the first time ever, I wasn't able to find my size because I'm too small!! The store didn't carry anything lower than a 6. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. I didn't realize it would be just as frustrating as not being able to find a big enough size. Now that I've typed this out, I'm feeling peeved all…
  • I don't know.......but I have always eaten a lot (was a vegetarian for 8 years in my 20s). I just went to check and my highest day (in the past 90) was 129 grams. Typically, although my goal is set at a minimum of 35 per day, I strive for somewhere between 45 and 75 grams.
  • Wow, so many choices. - You say "eh" and give me a quick look to see if I caught that you're hip with the language (I don't say 'eh', ever) - You expect to see Cowboys and Indians all over the place - it's the Wild West don't ya know. - You are amazed that you can ski in the morning, go golfing in the afternoon and stroll…
  • Hi there! I read your post and immediately remembered one I'd just read yesterday. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1366510-how-can-someone-get-to-538lbs This gentleman has an amazing story.....perhaps you can find some inspiration here? I'm a recovered anorexic who boomeranged her way into binge/purge mode for…
  • Hi neighbour! (B.C. here) You're doing well - and I agree...MFP is awesome. I ditched Weight Watchers in favour of it. You'll find all sorts of interesting information on the boards - and a LOT of disparate opinions. Sometimes difficult to figure out which is the best advice to follow, but it's whatever works for you…
  • My goal weight is about 135. I have to be a little cautious about going too low at my age (55 next month) as my face starts to look somewhat gaunt. I'm at 132-ish right now and into week two of maintenance mode.
  • One more from the glorious west coast - just outside Vancouver, in Burnaby. :)
  • Today I am grateful that someone who read my post here in this thread sent me a FR. That FR reminded me to come back here and post again! I am also grateful that I live in such a beautiful part of the world. I cherish what I have here - the mountains and the Pacific Ocean at my door.
  • 'Automagically'   I WILL find a way to use this word in a sentence at some point today.
