  • I don't know of a specific tool, but in your food diary, you can add in food, see if it fits in with your calries/nutrients. Then remove item if you don't eat it. I do this in advance on days that I pre-plan my meals. Also, you can search through the food database and it shows you the nutrition information.
  • Definitely look online for the store weekly ads. They update on Wednesday and Saturday (usually). Also, if you have a Walgreen's nearby, they have a generic brand of nuts and canned veggies that are somtimes less than grocery store prices.
  • I know what you mean about the oatmeal! I don't care for the mush either. So, I have started using it as an ingredient in other foods - meatloaf, casserole topping (use it like bread crumbs/crackers), baked into cookies. If I do make a bowl of oatmeal, I crush nuts on top and that helps the texture. I mix 1 cup of plain…
  • yes, 26 pounds and no gym. Find an exercise that you can see yourself doing forever (walking, biking, jumping jacks, etc) and do that. At home work outs are very convenient for me.
  • Shakira is not a vegan. But, still makes me wanna dance. “I lasted for one month,” she says. “I tried, I really tried. Yeah, I gave it a go. I was living in Spain on a farm, and someone gave me four chickens. I named them and they became very close to me. And then I couldn’t eat them. “I was like ‘Okay, if I cannot…
  • I made this bread with honey and approximately 6 cups of whole grain whole wheat flour. I put one loaf in glass pyrex dish and the other in metal bread pan and both loaves turned out great. Very good texture and taste for whole wheat! Thanks for sharing.
  • bump - great ideas I am going to try! Thanks
  • Chocolate Pumpkin Pie Brownies http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2011/11/11/chocolate-pumpkin-pie-brownies/ I made these last night using almond milk and stevia. I think next time I'll use only 1/2 cup sugar and 2 T oil. You can omit the chocolate chips, they are chocolatey enough without the chips.
  • "two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a seasame seed bun!" I still remember the jingle after all these years. and, I'm lovin' it!
  • After browsing your diary... maybe you could try adding fresh corn to your salads. Use the search and in the forums you will find a spinach smoothie recipe (maybe called a green monster). Anyway, it is wonderful smoothie and you can't taste the spinach at all. You could also add spinach and mushrooms to your eggs (like an…
  • Sneak them into other foods - like adding a pureed cauliflower into your mashed potatoes or shredded zuchinni into spaghetti sauce. Doesn't change the flavor, changes the texture a bit, but it is one way to get more veggies in your meals.

  • I walked 1000 miles (OK exagerration) and never lost a pound until I added mixed interval training to my treadmill workout. Then, my heart rate went up and the pounds came off. I have a manual incline treadmill and follow this 39 minute workout 3 times per week (although some weeks I run or bike instead of 1 treadmill…
  • Have you cooked a delicious meal for your family? There are some great recipes using seasonal vegetables that maybe be something you and she could do together. If cooking isn't your thing, maybe start with an easy chicken crock pot recipe.
  • 1. Read the labels at the grocery store. There are a lot of healthy options in most products and the nutrition varies a lot, even within the same brand (thinking spaghetti sauces) 2. Avoid junk food/fast food. And, look up the restaurant menus online BEFORE eating there. 3. Meal planning at least one night in advance (week…

  • Red lobster has their nutrition information online. Plug in what you might eat into your food diary before you go and that might help you stay on track. I limit myself to 1 biscuit, order the house salad with vinaigrette, and ask for the sauces on the side. Enjoy your dinner!

  • Try diet root beer next time you crave a pepsi. Pepsi has caffeine, but root beer does not. Maybe it could be a step down from the diet pepsi and help you wean off completely.

  • I ignore it. It is calculating based on if you eat and exercise the same everyday and the stars align for the next five weeks. Just never proved true for me and it fluctuates the other direction when you go over calories.
  • Hi Heidi, I didn't have as much to lose, but struggled with the 1200 calorie diet for at first. And, hunger pains until I found a few go to foods that were filling but low in calorie - watermelon, cantaloupe, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes were some of my go to foods. or, oven roasted turkey breast and baked chicken.…

Boring task made somewhat more fun…
