I'm doing the Tinkerbell too! When you say "not really trained" what do you mean? They give you 3.5 hours to complete (which is roughly a 16:30/minute pace) I've also ready they're pretty strict about this time and sweep runners/walkers along the way. Please be care and not to injure yourself -- don't push too hard.

I use a run-walk-run plan too. It's a great way to get into running and not put so much physical stress on yourself. As for the short duration of runs, some plans will not have you exert yourself so much because it's a long distance run (like a half or full marathon) - they don't want you tire yourself out so soon in race.…

Clif Bar's website has a cool pace band maker that not only helps you with splits, but tells you when it's time to load on calories (either by bar or gel). I ALWAYS do a run/walk (run 3 mins. then walk 1 min) and I'm not ashamed of it. If I get any weird looks from the runners while I'm walking, I usually think about how I'll be leaving them in my dust later in the race when they've tired out and I'm still going strong. :laugh:

My longer runs are always early morning. At first I'd eat a "regular" breakfast: egg white omelete or some oatmeal and a cuppa coffee. I was ok for the first mile or two but then hit a wall. I agree about needing goals to stay focused. Which is why I'm going to be running my first Half at the Tinkerbell Half Marathon at Disneyland January 29th! I'm so excited! I've caught the running bug and plan to run maybe 2-3 other half marathon in 2012!
