  • When did you weigh yourself? I usually have a drink or two on weekends and weigh less in the morning (when I always weigh in) because I'm more dehydrated than usual. Maybe you're just hydrated?
  • I got my bike from Target. It's a 7 speed and it cost $150. SOOOO worth it. I started out doing 6-12 mile rides. Lately my fiance and I have been averaging about 14 miles per weekend (we ride on the weekends, run during the week). Yesterday I did 22 miles (my longest yet!) on my cheap little Target bike :-)
  • Maybe try upping your cardio first? I'm on day 3. I made it through day 1 level one just fine, BUT I have been running 2 miles 5 days a week and/or biking 6-15 miles 3 days a week plus weight training 2-3 times a week. If you're walking for exercise, 30 day shred is definitely going to be a HUGE increase in intensity for…
  • We cook EVERYTHING on it. Chicken, steak, hamburgers, everything. It does drain grease off BUT it doesn't really change that much calorie-wise, I don't think. It's convenient bc we live in an apartment and don't have a grill but we love BBQ style meats so it emulates that.
  • September 2012 here!!! I've actually been on MFP for a year and a half now but got less disciplined over the holidays :-( and gained three lbs. My ultimate goal would be 139 lbs but even at my most disciplined I couldn't seem to get under 145. So if I weigh between 139 and 145 in September I'll be very happy :-).
  • cspence2270--it's kind of a long story but I'll try to make it brief: I lost the first 30 pounds the same summer as the Havasu photos (2006) were taken by "watching what I ate" which at the time meant: eating a light breakfast, a lean cuisine for lunch, and then whatever was made for dinner by my parents. I lived at…
  • For the girl asking: I am 5'7.5 inches, 147 pounds (22 BMI!). Athletic/thick build. My legs and hips are STRONG. In the before pictures I was about 200 pounds (I didn't weight myself after hitting the 190s).
  • They're not exactly dumplings, BUT I think you'd like the Chicken Shu Mai from Trader Joe's. They're low cal and delicious.
  • 5'7.5" and I'm currently oscillating between 147 and 150. I'm actually okay in the 140s. I get pissed off when I hit 150. My goal weight is 139/140 but realistically I'm healthy and happy at the weight I'm at so I'm just going to keep counting calories and working out and living this lifestyle because I'm happy doing it.
  • I just took the California bar. I was actually doing really well staying on my diet plan until bout 2 weeks before the exam. EVERYTHING was stressing me out, including calorie counting. So I down graded my plan from 1 pound loss per week to .5 and basically maintained at that level. THEN during the bar I went NUTS. I ate…
  • I weigh between 147 and 150 in my profile picture. I'm 5'8" and medium-thick built with lots of muscle. From a young age, for some reason, we're taught that the ideal body weight for a woman is 120. Therefore, regardless of height, when people who keep this assumption see someone they think looks fit/thin they assume they…
  • If you're already counting calories it's not going to do anything substantial. I tried it because I LOVE cereal but I was already actively using MFP so it did not do much except make me starving by the 4th day. If you break it down, it's what you're already doing. The trick is it's automatic portion control for people who…
  • Mine is 139 (but that's only to see the "3"). I'm med-large framed and have lots of muscle so I'm actually quite happy where I am (oscillating bt 145-147). My doctor told me these last few pounds I want to lose are "vanity pounds" so I'm while I'm not stressing too much about it, I do work really hard to stay fit and eat…
  • Steak Followed by Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Bun Ice cream :-)
  • Via is starbuck's instant coffee individual packets. They come in packages of 10 or 12 in varied flavors. if you want the frappuccino flavored, Via comes in cinnamon, caramel, vanilla--a bunch of different flavors, all around 5-10 calories :-)
  • We made a piña colada last night with fresh pineapple, diet tonic water, stoli gala apple vodka, splash of vermuth. It was about 4 ounces of pinapple, 3 shots of vodka, zero calorie tonic water and ice blended. If you're interested in less sweet, less calorie: any flavored vodka and diet tonic water=ONLY the calories from…
  • Victoria's secret has tankinis that have built in bras. They're on sale now too
  • I recently switched from working out in the morning to the evening. My fiance started a new job in which he has to get up much earlier. We run together so it was either workout at 4:30 am (and I have never been a morning person to begin with) or switch to evening workouts. For his and my sanity we switched :-) Working out…
  • I would give "eating what you want" a try... but it comes with sacrifice. I will STARVE all day in anticipation of a pre-planned high calorie meal. Most times the high calorie meal is not that satisfying because it will fail to fill me up, or will trigger more cravings (I am a notorious sweet tooth). So unless you have…
  • I did the special K diet for about a week. It was okay for about 3 days, and then day four I was really unsatisfied. It was a good way to "shrink" my stomach a bit because it got me used to eating smaller meals. I lost a pound and it helped me continue losing by simply counting calories on MFP like I had already been doing…
  • Name: Heather Age: 26 Height: 5'7.5'' HW: 200+ lbs (stopped weighing myself) CW: 147 July 31st GW: 142 lbs... that would be sweet :-) Ultimate GW: 139 lbs About me: I am studying for the California bar. I just graduated from law school so I'm studying, looking for a job, and trying to continue eating right and exercising.…
  • You could try nutella. If you have no problem with having a jar of peanut butter in your pantry, then I doubt you would have a problem with nutella. It has the same chocolate-hazelnut flavor you're looking for! I don't even like nutella, I just know because my sister is obsessed with peanut butter nutella sandwiches :-)
  • My fiance and I did the couch to 5K program and ended up deviating from the program because we liked running so much! Our original goal was a 5K under 30 minutes. The first real 5K we ever ran I came in at 33 minutes, he did it in 34. After a month we were running them in 25 minutes or less. My best 5K ever was 22:55, his…
  • I also agree with missxchelly--splitting a plate is AWESOME! I do this with cheeseburgers all the time. So a Ruby's, or island's, or any other burger joint restaurant cheeseburger is 900 calories... well if you split it it's 450. That's just not that bad! Not an everyday thing of course, but it's not bad. Get that and a…
  • Try to find places that you know list their calories or do your best to estimate what you're eating. For example I love the restaurant "The Pink Taco" and they don't list calories but I can estimate the tortilla soup, chips & salsa, and 8 ounce margarita based on other places--Island's tortilla soup is very similar so I'll…
  • 139. Right now I'm hovering around 147 and NEVER seem to be able to get under 145 but I'm gonna keep trying! Honestly if I stay at 145 forever I'll be satisfied. 139 I'll be thrilled.
  • Thanks, I'll look into it
  • I like Proud Mary because it speeds up out of nowhere and always gets my heart pounding :-)
  • Find low calorie meals that satisfy you and put those into your routine. That way you have a meal plan for your normal routine--then you just have to really watch what you're eating when you break your routine. For example, every single day I have a bowl of cereal with nonfat milk and a hard boiled egg white (175…
