  • That's a lot of carbs. Do you know what your blood sugar is? My husband is diabetic and his vision gets blurry when his blood sugar gets too high.
  • Same thing here. It seems I can tolerate an occasional meal but that's about all before the migraines, brain fog, mood swings, increase in hot flashes (surgical menopause), and bricks in stomach feeling return. My issue with having the occasional meal/snack with gluten is that it rarely stops there, it's like it keeps…
  • I switched to FitBit Flex after 3 years of BMF (and no results) and for me it's way more accurate also. Customer service was awesome too. I had a charging issue with mine and they were very prompt to replace it, I didn't even have to return the defective one. Plus there is no monthly fee required to use it.
  • Yes! Shortly after reading Wheat Belly and started thinking about cutting the wheat I ran across the Gluten Solution. So glad I did and it makes perfect sense.
  • I've been gluten free for 3 months until this past week (Christmas). I've had several nights were I've had acid reflux and was trying to figure out why, that my be my answer. I went GF to see if that was my migraine trigger because while on South Beach my lifelong headaches vanished, after slipping off they have returned.…
  • After having my FitBit Flex for a couple of months now, I can say for me the Flex is much more accurate (for me). I have finally started seeing results. BMF was reading 200-400 calories higher for me, steps and activity are almost equal though. Fitbit says I sleep better though and I tend to disagree because there have…
  • I say work the pancakes into your calorie allotment UNLESS you are like me and wheat sensitive. I was doing that exact thing but the scale would jump back up after just one splurge like that. I'd "gain" and "lose" the same 3-5 pounds until I dropped wheat completely. I added some wheat back in (that was the only change)…
  • I do realize they are different but thank you. I used BM for the last 2 years and prior to a surgery I had used it at least a year before with the same very little results. Although sometimes I wasn't as dedicated as I should have been so thought I was under estimating my calorie intake. I tracked 16 weeks extremely close,…
  • Yep, mine overestimates too. With the deficit I carry, I should be losing at least a pound a week, but I usually hold steady unless I carry a much larger deficit. Been that way for 2 years. Trying a fitbit flex now to see what it says.
  • My husband's diabetes educator said to count all sugar alcohols as half a sugar because they do affect your blood sugar. (10 grams sugar alcohol = 5 grams carbs)
  • I do the same and it can be quite irritating IF you let it. I keep track of daily weight on paper and BMF but not here on MFP, here I only record losses. I generally step on the scale once unless it's a really big change then I'll step on it again. I tried weighing weekly but Monday was not the day to do it, LOL, it is…
  • I try to keep tabs on my burn as the day goes and if I see a huge deficit in the making, I try to adjust for it and eat some healthy calorie dense foods like nuts. I have to really watch the carbs from grains because they usually come back to bite me.
  • I know I do better at smaller deficits and lower carbs. At 1,000+ deficit I either maintain or gain, but around a 500 calorie deficit I lose - provided I don't get too crazy with the carbs (fruit and veggie carbs are fine, it's the grainy carbs that get me). I'm a firm believer in the eat more to lose more approach, I just…
  • Yep, I believe they exist. I'd like to pass your photo on to a local paranormal group and see what they have to say about it if you don't mind.
  • I knew before BMF that my sleep was a mess but had NO idea how bad of a mess until I saw it in the graphs. My sleep pattern most nights look like a scan bar code, LOL.
  • If you are not used to exercising or doing the type you are doing now, you could just be holding fluid from inflamation in the muscles. If that's the case, it should drop soon. Also, if you are like me and very sensitive to sodium or carbs, you may be holding fluid from that and picked a high weight day to weigh. Watch…
  • It's water weight. I weigh daily and have found certain foods (salty and high carbs - takes more water to process carbs so you retain more) really affect the scale and may take a few days to reflect it the loss again. By weighing daily I can see the overall trend but I don't freak out over the scale, I use it as a…
  • And that may be your answer. If you are undereating, your body may be holding on to everything it gets.
  • There is a group on here Eat More to Lose More or something like that. Look it up and read what they have to say. You may have been undereating for quite some time and may need a reset. It's quite possible during the rest that you may gain a little before losing. Also it you just started an exercide program you may be…
  • Ditto. I actually had to set MFP to very active in order for it to agree with BMF, I guess my job is more physical than I thought, LOL.
  • Mine adds extra steps on really bumpy stretches of road especially in the truck, not as much in the smoother riding car.
  • Were you moving your arm or holding the rail? As long as I use my arms and don't hold on, mine registers steps just fine on treadmill (and elliptical, some people have trouble with that too)
  • You can change the mets so that it will show vigorous but it won't change your calories burned, it just gives an ego boost to see something registered as vigorous.
  • Also remember that when you increase your calories up to where they should be, you may hold steady or even gain alittle while your body adapts, then it should start releasing the fat. A personal trainer told me to give any diet changes a minimum of 6-7 weeks before making more changes or deciding it doesnt work. Check out…

  • LOVE my Link but think I'll be getting this one for my bday in Oct! Links, is smaller, looks cooler, HRM capability, yeah, I gotta have it! My only concern is how adjustable that metal band will be. But other than that, it's time for an upgrade!
  • 1/1 - 9,372 1/2 - 14,310 Goal - 350,000 Total - 23,682 Remaining - 326,318
  • I aggravated my PF and forgot about the challenge until today, LOL. Anyway I went back and checked my numbers Dec 1-18 I had 206,929, then Dec 19-31 I had 126,867. Ended up 16,304 short of my 350,000 goal, so close. I would have surpassed it if I would have been able to workout :(
  • My BMF counts it, as does everymove.com. Since I already have trouble eating enough calories and having a huge deficit, I have to count it otherwise I'd be in an even bigger hole. I do not log it here but I do count those calories when it comes to eating them back. I do log it on everymove.com to get the points.
