I'm sure your bum looks better on the bike than the couch  Whenever I see a woman biking, the first thing I always notice is her legs, although, if she was topless, it would be the second thing I notice

I'm training for my first marathon in November in St. Augustine, Florida.

I jumped on a mixed open team last month and based on our estimated time to finish and the results from last year, we have a shot of finishing in the top 10 for that division. The team is more for fun, but if we do well, that's just a bonus.

I'm running in the 200 mile Bourbon Chase relay in Kentucky this weekend.

The most important tip I can offer is to listen to your body. I've taken off a couple days during my current marathon training, one day due to being extremely tired from lack of sleep. If you do take a day off, don't try to make the miles up. A random day off is not going to have any real affect on your training.

I ran a couple years in college, Division I. Currently trying to get back in that kind of shape.

Another fellow runner training for a marathon next month :)

167, although, there will be a significant increase next month since my marathon training program refers to October as my Monster Month :O

If you want a unique race, you gotta try the Krispy Kreme Challenge in Raleigh, NC in February. Its grown to 7500 participants of which a 1/3 of them attempt the challenge of eating a dozen donuts at the halfway point. This year the race was 4.7 miles long. Your entry fee goes to helping the North Carolina Children's…

I agree with this. Run the half at full speed. This will give you a good idea of where your training is at and should hopefully give you a good indication of what you can run in the marathon. Good luck.

Me right after I finished running in my State HS XC Championships my senior year in '92. I'm the freak with the long hair :)

Logic would dictate that you would burn more calories if the exercise is done at the same intensity since your heart is working harder to cool your body. For example, the last two easy long runs I did were both at a 7:18 pace, one was 14 miles in 70 deg weather at night and the other was 10 miles in the middle of the…

I started running in high school and ran on a college team for a couple years, but I never took it as seriously as I should have. All my PR's are in my sig and set back in college. I stopped running after I graduated college and got fat. This lasted about 10 years, then I decided to stop being fat and get back into shape.…

Here's an article in Runner's World pointing out why stretching isn't necessary based on scientific evidence. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-241-287--7001-0,00.html The article also points out that stretching increases flexibility but that isn't needed for a runner and could increase your chance of injury.…

Choot 'em Liz, choot 'em! Love this show!

It depends on the person and what you're goals are in the marathon. My mom used it when completing her first marathon. I once did an 8 mile run with a group that used this method (7:30 running, :30 walking) and I didn't like the way that it disrupts my rhythm. I didn't run any faster overall and I didn't like having to…

Dude, just go to a strip club, they always cheer me up even when I don't need cheering up :)

Great job, sounds like you had a real successful race. Nothing feels better than exceeding your goals

All the guys clicking on this post hoping to see a video, raise your hand. *raises hand*

Yes, it does get easier with time. If you can adjust the tension, adjust it so there's as little tension as possible which makes it easier to clip out, although, it makes it easier to unintentionally clip out, but that shouldn't be a problem. Increase the tension as you get better at clipping out. If you happen to fall…

I bought a pair of Asics GEL-Hyper Speed 4's back when I was almost 220. I overpronate really bad and I've had no problems with 'em. I've been an Asics guy my whole life so my opinion is probably skewed :) There really isn't much difference between racing flats. They have very little support compared to normal running…

Your body will let you know if you should run everyday. If you don't notice any unusual soreness and you don't feel sluggish or rundown then keep doing what you're doin'. The main reason you take rest days is to help your body recover when you've pushed it hard.

It's definitely not a fact. The 100 calorie burned/mile is just a nice round number someone picked that makes it easier for people to guesstimate what they burned. If the books say it's based on a 150 lb person, then you know it's useless information, since weight alone means nothing in determining calories burned.

Same here. Helps me keep track of how much money I have. If I only have "ones" showing then I'm low on funds. - I also don't like my food to touch. - I like having a plate full of mashed potatoes and making a crater in the middle and filling it up with applesauce. - All 'fun size' candy bars are one bite only. - Have to…

The type of trainer you're looking for comes in 3 different variations: wind, fluid, magnetic. Here's a basic breakdown of the 3 types: http://cycling-review.com/accessories/bicycle-trainer/ . If you just plan on using it for some easy riding, I wouldn't spend too much on one. Here's a good website with some reviews of…
