Interesting that it's a burning sensation in your knee. I'm a physical therapist and that is not the most common complaint after physical activity. I would try ice and maybe lay off the running for a few days just to see if you can calm it down. If it persists, I would get a prescription from your physician to see a…

This is definitely true a lot of times. I second this post and think you should go to the MD to get your labs checked.

I'm a Physical Therapist in a research setting, looking at the effects of exercise on chronic diseases. Before, I worked at a hospital on the orthopedic floor and definitely gained respect for nurses!

I wore my HRM for a few games and got right around 1000 calories burned, so I went with that.

I have done Insanity for up to 3 weeks consistently. It is a great workout and after you're done you definitely feel exhausted. I think the problem for me with Insanity is doing it back to back to back days. You're body doesn't get a lot of time to recover. Therefore, I was sore quite a bit.

I'm reading "The Code: The Unwritten Rules of Fighting and Retaliation in the NHL". Sounds way different from everything else listed in this topic, but thought I'd throw it out there for the purposes of diversity! The book I'll be reading next is "The Anatomy of Hope." A book of stories from a doctor and his experiences…

This will make close to 32 oz, but my wife and I split it so that's why we make so much. Pretty simple. 2 Cups strawberries 1 Cup blueberries 2 Cups Slik Pure Almond Milk I used to add granola to it, which is also really good, but have stopped doing so because I'm trying to cut calories a little more.

Thanks everyone! I figured it was just doing a lot of the same that I do at home, but it's not as easy when work picks up the tab on the road.

I have not had either, but have treated many patients with V-Tach and PVCs and they are scary things. I would think that V-Tach and PVCs (a run of 6 more more) are serious conditions that would require intervention by a cardiologist. At least this is what I learned in school (physical therapy school).

It is pretty normal for me to drink that much water. I did not do a leg workout the day before and I was really close to may target amount of calories for that day. I will say that sometimes when running for longer than 25 minutes, my foot tends to go numb. I would imagine that this is not a good thing and has to do with…

I will first let you know that I am a physical therapist so I'm most likely biased. I do think that there are good chiropractors that do their job extremely well. And there are those who do not. Just like any profession. It seems that a lot of times you hear stories, just like one above, that they go to the chiropractor…

I got fat from being sedentary and eating bad food. Pretty simple. A couple things triggered my drive to change my lifestyle. First, getting married and realizing that I want to live a happy, healthy life with my beautiful wife was the biggest reason. Secondly, being back in school finishing my docotorate in physical…

Appreciate the help everyone!! I'll keep you posted on my progress. I like the one quote about saying you'll never regret finishing your workout, but you will regret not starting it.

Max HR can be determined by the formula: 220-age. So yours would be 194. When you exercising you often want to exercise at a percentage of your max HR. I'd say don't go over 85% of your max HR, which for you would be 165. There are other formulas out there, but I think this is most simple.

I'm not sure that tight hip flexors are the only source of your back pain. It could be that there is an imbalance between length and strength of your hamstrings and hip flexors. Knowing that you have a history of cheerleading, I'm not surprised that you have back pain. Did stretching your hip flexors relieve your pain…
