  • Thanks for the input! My spouse is always supportive and loves me no matter my weight, but wants us both healthy- we even walk together more! I cook the same foods for my family, but eat less. Elderly people at church voiced concern and I wasn't offended by it. 150 should be a healthy weight for me. If it isn't, I can lose…
  • Thanks. Our best friends are doctors, so he's well aware of healthy ranges. I think Lourdesong is closest with the gaunt comment. I was just entering maintenance when people became concerned. Also, Coffeeandcardio makes a good point of what we think is normal in society. Adjustment just takes time.
  • Every morning to keep myself mindful and honest. I only track it once a week.
  • 45 and 70 total to lose! This is doable, one step at a time.
  • You can't fix others but you can be a good example.
  • Look at my pics. The before and after are pretty obvious. I just need to stay on track! It is totally doable!!!! My current picture is 30 pounds to go...
  • Keeping him and you in my thoughts and prayers.
  • That is EXACTLY what I do! I have been catching up on years of not watching movies with Netflix as I use my elliptical and no knee pain! I sweat up a storm and feel weak at the end, but happy.
  • I turned 43 today and have lost 20 pounds, but still have 40 pounds to lose. Feel free to friend me!
  • I have over 40 to go, so feel free to add me.

  • Go ahead and take a look or add me. I'm pretty sure mine's open.
  • Yay! Fantastic! Keep it going!
  • Because today-not yesterday- is the next day of the rest of my life. I have seen myself healthy and thinner and it's a good thing. Health is important. I have had some SERIOUS backslides and personal crap, but I know for myself, my family, and my future I need to break the bad habits and create the good ones. I only focus…
  • Heck , I gained it ALL back! I'm back on, clinging to MFP like it's the last thing on Earth! I totally get it! Feel free to add me.

  • I'm 42, so I fit the bill. I have two teenager (18 & 16) and a 6 year old . Using MFP is great for me...as long as I stick to logging. Feel free to add me- looks like we don't live too far away!
  • Is there the possibility that something has changed? Where you live? Roommates they don't like? Perhaps they don't like your boyfriend but don't want to tell you this?Do you always talk about the same thing? Do you always talk about dieting? Making and keeping friends is a process and takes time. Give it time. Do you…
  • Fresh fruits and veggies. Mixed steamed veggies with light sauces( cauliflower, broccoli & carrots w/a little oyster sauce). Monster salads with things you like (I like craisins, apples, berries, low-cal dressing, etc., my sister likes chicken, hard-boiled eggs, veggies & cheese), zucchini & onions & garlic w/ a little…
  • American standards of clothing vary and are much more generous than in the last. At my thinnest I could wear an 8 in brands that were more like 11 a decade ago.
  • Place: Sacramento, CA, United States Age with 1st: 24 Age now: 42 Incredibly lucky I had two of mine young and never foresaw the future pregnancy issues I have had. I also have a 5 year old that we thought we could never have. I was one of the first of my friends to have kids- most of them were in their early to late 30s…
  • I totally get that. It's one thing when you can control what comes in but when there are others present... Can you make things he loves but you do not? I don't like sugar cookies, but the kids do. Or I package the dessert as soon as I make it into portions and say they are not for me to take because it would be "stealing"…
  • Honestly, grains. I make incredible desserts and homemade pastas, but my kids are incredibly fussy and nobody is a big pie or cake eater but me. Thank goodness I can bake and take food to work, but it is sooo hard not to make and taste things, especially with the holidays coming. I have had to start by completely…
  • Sacramento, California...in the heart of freshly grown croplands- fruits and vegetables galore.
  • Glad to see a variety of people here! Let's get losing some weight!

  • I feel better at 42 than at 35. I was getting close to go, but then went on vacation for a month and gained 6 pounds, but am back on the wagon. I am back to exercise and tracking and do notice a difference. Someone actually thought I lost weight AFTER coming back form vacation. Weird! How goes your diet?
  • Yup, three kids, work, everything is in season (central California) so tons of canning to do, volunteer work, people over every day (so constant meals for 10). But Catholics, even in my family, are varied. We may not agree, but that doesn't make us any less united.
  • You could always eat a VERY large salad with low-calorie dressing if you are near maxing out. Easily 6 cups of romaine and dressing for me is under 100 calories and usually an easy meal "replacement". Especially if I've eaten way over my limit that day.
  • Personally, if I don't get up and weigh myself, I don't feel on track. I only weigh in weekly. It's just part of my morning routine now. Not demotivating for me at all. I am doing a slow life change and picking up good habits- like weighing every morning to remember not to eat crap all day.
  • Actually, I used it as an option and DIDN'T get pregnant for 10 years. Then we tried to get pregnant, had a child 5 years ago, and haven't had a problem since then. I also know many FERTILE women that haven't gotten pregnant on it. Talk to your OB/GYN about options. It definitely doesn't work for some people based on their…
  • I get bulk veggies and fruit. Lentil or split pea soup with veggies, minestrone soup with any cheap veggies in season (no meats), steel cut oatmeal with cinnamon or sugar and raisins for breakfast. But mostly discount foods when they are on sale and eat according to sale foods. And I freeze or can anything cheap. Pretty…
  • I love fruit and substitute it for sugar. I sometimes have 1 level tsp. of sugar in the morning with my steel cut oatmeal. No soda, no refined stuff (usually). I went to a party last night and I didn't like the cake- it was amazing. But I went mostly cold turkey. I have a frozen yogurt on occasion, but I get the bigger…
