Hi all - sorry to be tardy here. I don't check the "community" very often anymore. To answer your question.... during most of the time when I was losing weight I didn't log my exercise into MFP, so I really had no idea how many calories I was burning. I sort of set that part aside - I exercise for health and fitness and to…

@goldenfrisbee Nice job! It hasn't always been easy but things are going well. "Maintenance" has proven to be more challenging than losing the weight for me actually. But just in the past few months I feel like I'm getting a better hang of it. I had to accept that I just couldn't maintain the weight I had gotten down to.…

1. What made you accept the invitation or join? - well I wasn't invited, I'm simply crashing the party... haha. Worked directly with Steve for a year and it was a very, very impactful year for me. In fact, I'm finding things he said to me 12, 8, 6 mos ago are finally starting to manifest themselves in my life. I'm stubborn…

can't answer the keto question but I had a box of some sort of caramel flavor Grenade bars recently. They were actually pretty good. Very candy bar-ish. Reminded me of the Musclepharm Combat Crunch bars which are also very good.

I'm on day four of not logging any food and not weighing myself (or my food). I'm going to try to do it for a month and just live with whatever weight consequences arise. As mentioned above, everyone is different, but in all the research I've done it seems as if "dieting" is a major factor for the development of binge…

Great work!

That's a good thing I think (telling your husband). I let my wife in on some of my struggles recently as well and I think it really helped. The secrecy of it was getting to me so just telling her that I was struggling and that she wasn't seeing it because I was hiding it was important. A bit of a weight lifted off of my…

First "clean" week in months as of this AM. Pretty happy about that. Hoping to keep up some momentum.

I hear you. Lately the best streak I've been able to put together is about 5 good days but lately it's been only 2-3.

Apologize if it's been covered but have you guys read Brain Over Binge by Kathryn Hansen? I'm about 3/4 of the way through it and finding it very interesting. It's definitely a very alternative view of BED, its causes and its resolutions. I don't think it will be for everyone but it definitely relates to me personally. She…

That's my favorite!

Yeah when I'm trying to go easier on fiber...... ahem...... I'll generally go with powerbar protein plus bars. Only about 4g in those and they taste good, well to me anyway.

No matter what that scale says on any given day, just don't quit! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10040017/thinking-of-starting-today-you-might-want-to-check-this-out-pics-inside/p1

Haha YES! I just went through the exact same thing. Just now trying to reign it in now though.....

Check out my weight graph for the last year - it's like a roller coaster. But the trend is downward (well except for the last month.. haha) , which is the most important part. It happens. I've lost over 150lbs total over 2 years though and a lot of it looked just like this. Hope this works....

your body is going to do what it's going to do - it doesn't mean that you are doing anything wrong. Think about it this way.... quitting now won't help you lose any more weight.... ;-) Give it time and stay the course.

I could have written this exactly.... but you did it first... :-)

My scale said I gained 14lbs in three days over the holidays.... but I knew from experience that the majority of that was water. I retain water like spongebob. Less than a week later almost 10lbs of that is gone. You'll be ok. Just get back to the process.
-
The other thing is that I had to get MUCH more precise about my caloric intake as I lost weight. I simply didn't have the "wiggle room" at 220lbs that I did at 320lbs. If I think about my logging in the beginning, I was likely wildly inaccurate. I wasn't weighing or measuring anything and I was less diligent about choosing…

So... I'm not a doctor.... but I went from 320 to (today) 165. In that time my resting heart rate dropped dramatically. Mine is in the low 50s and sometimes in the 40's now. This is a good thing - I had a cardiac stress test last year and was given a solid bill of health. They basically said I had the heart rate of an…

Love it! Nice work. Had to laugh at the "smiling on the outside" comment on one of your pics - I've got a few of those.. haha.
-
great input - thanks everyone
-
Just reinforcing your point. Haha
-
Thanks and you are correct - I'm trying to make maintenance a habit. I like that...
-
Thanks so much! I'm finding that it's a whole new mindset and just trying to get my head wrapped around it! :-)
-
Thanks for the input everyone - it's helpful. @Francl27 - yeah that's very much what I've been thinking about. I like the approach because it's flexible but still somewhat structured, if you know what I mean? Appreciate your response. I'm sure I'm just looking for some validation. It's been nearly two years now of weight…
-
Yeah it's a great point and very much the way I was thinking about it - just around 100 per day for the rest of the week. I think that's pretty doable. My maintenance is roughly 2300 depending on the calculator I use and based on experience to this point.

Thanks. How long have you been doing it that way? Has it been better for you overall? Oh, and love the avatar!
