  • I asked a similar question a last month in this thread (before it got derailed) and the general answer, without knowing your stats, is that both the machine and MFP most likely overestimate. For cautionary reasons to prevent over-eating, I switched to a ~300cal entry for a moderate 60 mins on the crosstrainer. The…
  • I toss salad with things like black olives, egg whites (not yolks), and a bit of cheese to give it some extra moisture/flavor rather than a dressing. Looking up a menu before I go out, so I'm prepared. Especially if I know the day before, so if there aren't any good <800 calories meals, at least I can plan my whole day…
  • @Lietchi has some good advice. I second the idea that you don't have to exclude certain foods or "bad foods." I've lost 60lbs while still eating pizza and alcohol. Moderation is key, mentally so you don't deprive yourself and physically so you don't eat more calories than needed. I went from 4 slices of pizza to 2. From 12…
  • This happened earlier this summer, but I think it's pretty petty. I was on a hike with some friends, all were guys except one other girl who is much thinner than me. She is easily a size 0 or 2, looks great physically in anything she wears. However, this was a particularly hot, sunny day. We hit a steep incline on the…
  • 3200 seems high for anyone trying to maintain a deficit. Especially since you say you don't normally eat that much now (how do you know, are you tracking already?) You said the next week goal is 3000. Does your plan drop the calorie goal each week? What is the calorie goal when it stabilizes? 2000? Less than 2k? 2000 may…
  • Agreed. I have no issue with a crowded gym. But I take great personal offense when a machine I use regularly is being held up by someone scrolling facebook on their phone. This happened to me the other night - a weight machine I usually use first was being used, so I did something else. Over 20 minutes later, the same…
  • My husband wraps his arms around me and says, "you're so little!" almost every week now. I've never felt "little" in my life!
  • I've been yo-yo-ing between 155-160 during all of November. My original goal was to get to 145 by Christmas, but I don't think that is going to happen. So I'll settle with 150 and *hope* to reach it early. 29 y/o, 5'5" Starting weight: 157 Goal weight: 150 November 25: 158.6 November 26: 156.6 November 27: 155.4 November…
  • Hey there! I'm 5'5" and began my WLJ at 215lbs. Currently I'm at 155ish but at my lowest I was ~145. Here are two shots I posted on my instagram (when I used it, lol.) I do exercise though so this was not just diet, but I didn't lift at this time so it was just cardio to create a larger deficit. Hope this helps!
  • This is weird but Jon Anderson, the lead singer of the band Yes, put out a Christmas album called 3 Ships in 1985, before I was born. It has been the primary music played while decorating for Christmas since I was a kid. Now that I'm grown, it's the only Christmas album/music I really enjoy. My husband doesn't get it, but…
  • I'm turning 30 next month (I know, not "old") but it seems like a foreign concept to me that I am no longer a "young professional" in my career and my accomplishments are now expected of a person in their 30s rather than revered for someone "my age" like they were. I'm also afraid of how getting older will affect my…
  • I really don't like when people buy me things. But the family members that insist to give me something every year started giving me cards with the cash they would have spent on a gift, with explicit instruction to use towards my student loans, which has been super helpful over the years (I only have 2 payments left until…

  • This was a big reason for me too. Always being the biggest girl whenever hanging out with friends. It was so depressing. 60lbs down and a size 6-8, I'm still one of the bigger girls but only because two of them seemed to never grow hips when they hit puberty - in their 30s and they probably still shop in juniors due to…
  • One of my best friends is like this. She and her mom go out every year on Black Friday and STUFF their SUV with boxes and bags and more boxes of just STUFF. She loves it, loves buying things, loves giving things to friends and family. But I've never, ever been like that. She didn't grow up super wealthy or anything, but I…
  • Hello there! I turn 30 in just a few weeks, hope I count! Doctor Who, DnD, LOTR, Star Wars. Our DM wrote her first mini-campaign and we are doing it this weekend. As @jeagogo mentioned above, how do you guys stay on track during a long session with so many snacks? I could eat cheese and crackers for literal hours.
  • 1. How on earth were you able to do 30 drafts?! 2. How on earth were you able to keep up with filling bye weeks, watching the waiver wire, and managing injuries in 30 leagues?! I'm in two, for about 6-7 years now. I've made it to the championship in one league 3 times, and won it all last year. My other league is an…
  • I haven't tried that but it's not a bad idea. I did switch up my routine from cardio-only to a strength training program, and so far I've been chafe-free since there's considerably less bouncing/movement. But I'll definitely try something like that when I get back into a cardio routine.
  • I'll see it eventually, but don't have tickets to it yet. Husband is going on Monday. I really liked Force Awakens and Rogue One. Honestly, I didn't hate The Last Jedi nearly as much as most people seemed to have hated it. But, I've only been a recent fan (hadn't seen the original 3 until after high school) and not since…
  • Three coworkers each brought in homemade cookies today...chocolate chip, gingersnap, sugar, peanut butter, chocolate chip pizzelles, mini reese cup cookies....so many cookies. And chocolate chip banana bread. I tossed this day up as a loss by 10am. I ate my normal lunch (lean cuisine) and will have a normal dinner. I'm…
  • Just doing housework without a bra gets painful after a while, I can't imagine doing something vigorous like my cardio routine without one. I haven't had smaller than a D/DD cup since puberty though, so maybe smaller cups can handle it better than larger ones. While we're on the subject.... I have sports bras based on my…

  • I'm 5'5" as well and would love to be able to maintain at 145. My body seems to want to stay in the 150s, and is very stubborn about it. I guess every body is different, but 140-145 is still a great, healthy range to maintain at.
  • I was a perfectly healthy 22.9 BMI when my eating disorder developed at 16. I dropped down to 21.0 before my family stepped in to help. I'm grateful they took notice of how quickly I dropped before it got too dangerous, but my body dysmorphia never subsided. I've been coping for almost 14 years, fluctuating as low as 21.0…
  • 29 y/o, 5'5" Challenge starting weight - 160.0lbs 10/23- 160.0 10/30- 157.4 11/06- 159.6 11/13- 157.2 11/20- 156.0 11/27- 155.4 12/04- 154.8 12/11- 157.2 12/18- 156.8 - I changed up my workout routine last week, and started my TOM. Hoping this is water weight from the switch to strength training (instead of cardio only).…
  • It's ok, high-calorie days happen. Don't let it make you give up. Today is a new day, and you can make new choices. What do you think caused this craving? Maybe try keeping yourself busy with a craft or housecleaning or a project, to keep your mind occupied instead of thinking about extra food? Do you stock your home with…
  • That sounds tough, what are your current settings on MFP? You may be eating too few calories and/or burning too much if you feel exhausted too often. Maintaining a deficit is the only "trick" to weight loss, but it sounds like you might be maintaining too much of a deficit. Give yourself permission to be human! Allow…
  • 10/10 quality response, bravo. Allons-y!
  • 1200 is not for everyone, and it's not a secret way to lose weight quicker since it's the absolute minimum a woman should eat and could be detrimental to your overall health and nutrition. You sound like you're doing very well on your current plan, so maybe don't try to deviate to a drastic change of 1200 calories right…
  • I had a pretty frustrating reaction last night. We had a dinner with my husband's family at my in-laws. The dinner is an annual pasta night - with three giant bowls of spaghetti and meatballs, linguine in clam sauce, and a baked ziti with spinach and sausage. Bread, and salad. I gave myself a fairly small portion of pasta,…
