Nutrita keto/ nutrient density / insulin response app
Nutrita is creating an app to help people know how appropriate foods are for keyo/low carb, their nutrient quality and bioavailability, and the body's typical insulin response from that food... nutrient availability is especially helpful to those limiting calories. Only the beta is out now but it is still useable…

Low Carb Denver 2019 videos
The Low Carb Denver 2019 conference just happened last weekend so the videos are not available yet, unless you are a psid or trial member of Diet Doctor - I'm not. The videos will be trickling out soon. I thought we could collect them here in one thread. Dr Nadir Mir Ali, cardiologist on cholesterol…

Ketones as a possible anti-inflammatory
I found this quite interesting. Ketones as a seizure preventative due to its anti inflammatory properties. It makes sense. Perhaps that us how it may be helping in headache reduction and my arthritis pain reduction too. https://www.ketonutrition.org/blog/2019/3/22/ketones-and-inflammation

Insulin's real role by Amy Berger - mind blowing!
Wow. This is an amazing article by Amy Berger of Tuit Nutrition on what insulin's main role is in the body and how almost everyone, including me, does not quite understand what it actually does. I HIGHLY recommend reading this! http://www.tuitnutrition.com/2019/03/insulin-glucagon-pancreas.html?m=1

Low carb/keto shows a very slight reversal in Alzheimer's
They treated Alzheimer's patients with a keto diet and saw ab improvement across the board. The problem was in moderate cases in getting the patients to eat the right food. My take away is in the earlier stages, it may help slow the disease and may set up the patient to expect the same diet on the future, making it easier…

Keto as a stand alone cancer treatment
I am not advising anyone stop cancer therapy and just go keto, I know my skin cancer required surgery while keto, but this case study was interesting. It is possible that keto may HELP some people fight cancer.... or better yet, help prevent it ;)…

Sugar Conspiracy article from 2016
I know this is an older article but it is still very relevant. Nutrition guidelines are still not based on actual science - consider Canada's new dietary guidelines and the EAT Lancet diet being pushed. Yikes.... Anyways, this was a good Sunday morning read, IMO. ;) https://getpocket.com/explore/item/the-sugar-conspiracy

And they say keto is not magic....
Improved cognition, weight loss, bg and insulin: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30803508/ Recent proof that keto improves cholesterol panels: https://academic.oup.com/nutritionreviews/article-abstract/77/3/161/5241079?redirectedFrom=fulltext And then virta showed that it reverses nafld.... sounds magical to me. ;)…

Naiman's protein to energy ratio
Ted Naiman made this protein to energy tool. His theory is that people eat too much due to protein dilution - you aren't eating protein rich foods so you keep eating more calories to meet that protein need. An interesting hypothesis that makes sense, imo. He says to aim for 1:1 or more, as I understand it. I know some…

Tennis elbow - Treatment? Ideas?
I have tennis elbow and have since March. Every time it starts getting better I try to work it and it gets worse. About a month ago it was just a mild annoyance so I got into a push-up contest with a teenaged friend (he won but I held my own) and now it is still much worse. Bending my arm to touch my chin hurts, and my arm…

PHC's list of low carb vs low fat RCTs
Public Health Collaboration's list of randomized controlled trials testing low carb against low fat. They have a low carb agenda, but guess which diet typically performs the best. ;) there is a chance they have left out a bunch of more successful low fat RCTs (50+ ??) but I doubt it. It isn't overly new, but it is a good…

Personal Fat Threshold from tuitnutrition
This is a pretty good article, and blog. This one resonated with me. My health issues started when I was slim looking but probably TOFI, and improved with dietary change before weight loss. I get annoyed when people are always saying to lose just 10% of weight to fix metabolic problems, and ignore the foods eaten... my pet…

Killing For Profit? Big Food and Big Pharma
Ivor Cummins posted this a while back. It's LONG, but it's a worthwhile watch on how some are trying to change dietary and medical advice for the better - better diet (mainly less processed carbs, lower carbs, and healthy fats and proteins) and better lifestyle to help prevent and treat T2D and CVD. It's a recorded panel…
