Tracking question
Do you track to record your intake, or is tracking an integral part of deciding what and how much to eat? I find it differs when I am trying to lose weight as opposed to when I am maintaining.

FAO Brian and Greg (and other football fans)
I enjoyed the Browns/ Cowboys discussions today. What do you think about a weekly OT football thread? I know, probably the last thing GOAD needs is another recurring thread, but I don't think that the daily roll call is the place either. Maybe somebody just starts an OT thread if the spirit moves them. Thoughts?

Friday Weigh-in Thread 08-30-2024
Yo! How'd you do this week?
-
HealthyWager
I just saw an ad on TV for this weight loss site. What a gimmick, in my opinion. They promote it as using a financial incentive to promote weight loss. It turns out you "wager" some amount of money to reach your weight loss goal in a certain time. If you win, part of the 'prize' is the money you paid up front. If you don't…

FAO those who track points and/or calories
(I'm posting this overnight to gain input from our Saturday morning early risers) For those who track points and/or calories, do you determine your portion sizes based on the number you want to allocate to each item, or do you count how many points/calories are in what you are eating (or just ate), perhaps with some daily…

Wide awake at 3:00 in the morning
Question: We say weight management is nothing more than calories in, calories out. Would you weigh the same holding a donut in your hand as you would getting on the scale immediately after eating the donut? If the answer is yes, at that point in time, how long would it take before there was a measurable difference between…

FAO Charlie
I'm in a maintenance phase of my weight management, currently a little under both my 'official' goal (WW goal from many years ago) and what I set as my personal target. I'm curious about your Green, Yellow, and Red Zones strategy. If you care to share, can I get a primer on how (and maybe why) it works? Thanks.

Maintenance
I am shifting from loss mode to maintenance. I know from past experience that staying focused on weight management is difficult over the long term. Do you find maintenance to be harder than losing, or just different? If you can narrow it down to one thing, what is the key to maintenance?

BMI
What are your thoughts on BMI? I just calculated my current BMI and what weight I need to get to for a "healthy" BMI. The top of the healthy range is one pound lower than the goal I had set for myself. I can adjust one pound. I see BMI as one more tool in the toolbox, not some end-all, be-all. Your thoughts?

Weigh-in Frequency
It is time for another Friday Goad weigh-in thread, but how often do you actually weigh yourself? Does it change depending on where you are in your weight management journey? Do you do better or worse at weight management depending on the frequency of your weigh-ins? Less than once a week Once a week Daily More than once a…

MFP app navigation
I have a bookmark for the GoaD board on my computer, but it takes several steps to get here on the app. I have to go to Community, Groups, and finally My Groups. Does anyone know a shortcut in the app?

Time for another "I'm back!" thread
I'm back after, as best I can tell, about 7 years. It makes me happy to see that GoaD has survived, and that there are still some familiar people posting. Some things don't change I guess. As a quick update for the group, I made WW Lifetime in 2012. I maintained that weight for about 9 years. A major medical situation in…

Remembering the good old days
I have not lost weight in three days. I think I've hit a plateau. Should I increase my points? I think my body is in starvation mode. ;)

Roll Call Tuesday 02/26/2019
Many of us feel the need to remain connected by just signing in on a daily basis. We may have a lot to say or very little. We may say smart things or dumb things. It doesn't matter if we're having a good day, a bad day...or something in between. We'll post our thoughts, our successes, our challenges, our insights (or lack…

New threads
Nice to see all the new threads. Good discussions. As much as I tend to steer clear of the daily threads, who remembers the old 'Clean Room'? That is what it was called, right? Didn't we all 'come clean' on Thursdays?

Doing WW without doing WW
I did my WW under the Points Plus program. They are two or three programs later now. Since I no longer have access to the PP program, the way I 'do WW' is to assign foods point values by dividing calories by 40 (easier math than 36 or 37, whatever the actual number was). I still do the zero-point fruits and use a daily…

Girl Scout Cookies
They are in the office and a big reason I'm up several pounds over the last week. Ugh!
