OHP and Bench press alternates? Bursitis related
Right shoulder, fairly severe this time around, and persistent. I can usually get it to ease up after a week or so, not this time. Ideas on safe alternatives? Thanks in advance folks

How have your tastes changed since starting your journey?
I had, for the first time in over a year, a package of Hostess Cupcakes yesterday. I used to LOVE these things! A pack or two and a quart of milk and I was set lol. Yesterday, all I tasted was plasticky fake chocolate and awful sweeteners. No more of those for me. Other treats though, like Snickers almond bars, Lindt…

Top 5 worst exercises
Thread title taken from the video. In short, he lists the following as exercises that need to go. Flys Behind the neck presses Upright rows Good Mornings Leg extensions To my admittedly uneducated self, everything he says makes sense, and I'd like your thoughts on it. I do leg extensions, upright rows and flys as…

Learning about neural adaptations and looking for advice
-57 years old, male -178-180 lbs consistently -about a year of full body workouts under my belt, both body weight and resistance. Just looking for advice as stated folks. I'm not overly concerned about aesthetics, and don't really want to gain any mass. I'd just like to stay reasonably lean and gain strength if possible. I…

The best, non prescription arch supports?
Just looking for recommendations because there are simply too many, expensive options out there to trial each and every one. The most aggressive support available by the way. I do have prescription supports, but they're hard plastic, and regardless how tightly laced up, my feet tend to "slip" inside the shoe with a little…

What's the poultry look like where you are?
Odd topic, and I'm not sure this is the right forum. Apologies if it should have gone elsewhere. My family relies heavily on chicken as our primary source of lean meat. For about two months now, several local markets are putting breasts out that appear to be mis-shapen and off color. When they were first out, my wife…

Can Parents' weight Hinder Toddlers' Development?
https://consumer.healthday.com/kids-health-information-23/child-development-news-124/can-parents-weight-hinder-toddlers-development-718275.html Interesting, but not conclusive. I've known quite a few people over the decades who had one, or both obese parents and got along just fine, and the converse is also true. Thoughts?

What's your favorite, most used condiment for any meal?
@Gallowmere1984 got me thinking about this mentioning sriracha (thank you!) in another thread, so that's added to my shopping list. Tell me your favorites. I love learning about new spices and foods. :) My personal, most used go to these days is Dobbin House Tavern Habanero Peppercorn Hot Sauce. Steak, eggs, potatos, pizza…

Smaller Lean muscle, bulky muscle, strong or endurance, is it all the same?
I saw this batted around a bit and can't find the article I read, but...muscle is just muscle right? No various types etc? If you have huge, strong muscles, it's because at some point you had no muscle, or smaller and built on that. Is that correct? I understand different goals can be worked towards, such as strength or…

Bowflex Selecttech dumbbells: Gimmicky or good deal?

Carpal tunnel and weight lifting
Is it a bad idea? I'm asking on behalf of my wife. Her symptoms are manageable with a splint which she only wears once a week or so, and occasional icing. She's been losing weight, but has expressed an interest in both cardio and strength training, primarily strength due to the benefits for older (55) women. I'm obviously…

Positive attitude key in tackling weight loss
I'm sure this has been posted somewhere in these forums before, but I though it worth putting up anyway. There's a lot of anxiety and uncertainty on display here, from newcomers, and I get that, I think we all do. But have a read from the Mayo clinic blog (2010) and hopefully something in here will resonate and motivate…

Facing my first Deload week
I've seen deloading mentioned all over the place, but I always associated it with guys and gals who were crushing it in the gym everyday body building/power lifting. I stumbled across this from Mark's Daily Apple:…

Are you a cheater? I am.
I'm not talking about occasionally busting my numbers, whether by forgetfulness or the one off planning. I'm talking about the chronic tendency to pad my numbers. This extends from honestly logging my food each day to the urge to give in to bad form during exercises just to crank out a couple of more reps, so I can say I…

Are differences among protein supplements worth noting for the average guy?
I'm not a body builder/power lifter/pro athlete, just a guy who wants a little better than average health. I've gone through I have no idea how many review sites on protein supplements and it's frustrating as hell trying to nail down fact from sales pitch. Minor differences in grams per serving aside, are some really…
