Are you supposed to eat back your exercise calories?
Simple question. I eat 1300 cals a day and burn around 200-300 from exercise. Am I supposed to eat those back or is it okay if I'm just eating 1300 cals a day?

Question on daily calories
Hello everyone. So currently, MFP gives me 1300 cals to eat daily for my weight loss goal. I don't really have too much of a problem with this number. However, I was wondering when it would be okay if I ever wanted to increase my cals to something like 1500/1600. I'm sticking to the 1300 cals because I want to avoid…

Breaded chicken
Hey guys! So I made breaded chicken in the oven for my meal prep, but I don't know how to log the cals from the actual bread crumbs. It says the serving size is 1/3 cup, but I don't think I used that much on each chicken strip especially since they aren't really thick pieces. I just put the pieces in the bag with the…

Weight went back up. Pretty bummed
After two weeks, I decided to do a weigh in and was sad to see I went UP two pounds. I really don't understand. I haven't been eating more than 1400 cal(I stay within 1300-1400, you can check my food journal) and although I wasn't able to go to the gym every day last week, I didn't feel like I was doing so bad that I…

Lunges
One movement that always seems to give me the most problems is lunges. I feel like it might be due to some tightness in my legs, but I can't just jump right into them and I feel I never have my leg centered as I know your knee shouldnt be slanted too much if that makes sense. Does anyone have any mental cues you use for…

Problematic Mindset
I have always been a heavy kid growing up, and my family definitely did not let me forget. Now that I am working on my fitness journey, I still have this awful nitpicking mindset. I've lost 15 pounds so far which I should be happy for but whenever I look in the mirror and see that fat around my thigh or stomach or step on…

When is it a good idea to increase calories?
Everytime I think I have everything figured out, I get thrown for a loop. I recently weighed myself after two weeks and went up two lbs. I vented to a friend cause it didn't make sense and they asked how much I eat and burn. Typically I eat 1300 cals a day, but I burn about 200 cals during a workout(if we believe my…

Stubborn fat
Before asking this, I know spot reduction isn't really a thing and you lose weight from different spots in your body, but are there any tips for targeting stubborn fat? I have been losing weight in spots like my back/arms/stomach but my inner thighs are still pretty meaty and chafing hurts. Is this just genetics or is…

Meat weight when cooking
Are you supposed to weigh food raw or cooked when calculating serving calories? For example, if I am making chicken, do I cut the piece and weigh it first, or do I wait after I've finished cooking them to weigh for logging

Apple Cider Vinegar
Does anyone use apple cider vinegar? Does it actually help you lose fat or does it just work more as an appetite suppressant? And if you do take it, how often do you drink it/how much?

White rice
Planning to meal prep this week and I forgot to pick up brown rice and all I have in the house is white rice. Is it that evil? I keep hearing people saying white rice isn't good for weight loss. I plan to only use the serving size of 1/4 cup which is 160 calories for each of my meal containers

Resisting the urge to binge
We're not perfect. What does everyone do to ignore the feeling to binge? I've been doing pretty good lately, but I had a very strong feeling to just gorge on some fried chicken and fries today (which I successfully ignored) but I was wondering what everyone does in those moments they don't feel so strong or are having a…

Fried Food
Hi! long story short the grill at my school cafe got fixed and they have these chicken tenders that are really good (410 calories according to the menu) but I'm worried that eating fried food will defer my goals. Any advice?

Do you NEED cardio?
Hi all! I am trying to build some muscle and also lose a little excess body fat. I'm sure I'm not the only person who hates cardio. I have heard that cardio is not necessary to lose fat. Is this true? And if so, to what extent? My typical gym routine is around 50-60 minutes of weight lifting with 10 mins of either HIIT or…

Food weight/calories after cooking
I was meal prepping for the week and I cooked these salmon fillets that came individually packaged in a bag. According to the nutrition facts, each fillet was 4oz with its respective calories. I didn't think much of it and went ahead and cooked them. Today I decided to weigh one cause I just got a food scale and I wanted…

Eating right and alcohol

Can I lose fat & gain muscle at the same time?
Might be a dumb question but hey. So basically I would like to get rid of some body fat, but I also want to build muscle in spots like my arms & thighs as well as overall strength. Would I have to choose one to achieve first? For example, should I focus on cutting first and then focus on muscle gainz once I reach my weight…

Workout schedule?
Hi! I was wondering if it is better to train different muscle groups every day or do full body workouts. I always hear conflicting views on this topic, but is one better than the other? For example, Monday will be Chest/Back, Tuesday-Glutes,Wednesday-Arms, and so on for the week. Is this a good schedule to follow or should…

Myth Buster
There are two concepts I've heard during my journey that I'm actually curious is true or a myth. 1) Can you actually "ruin" your metabolism? And is it something you can repair/improve? 2) Eating more to lose weight. When I was having trouble losing weight(which was before I started tracking my food more accurately), some…

Macros-How strict should you be?
Is it okay if you go over your macros a little? like for example, mfp gives me 43 g of fat and 114g of protein for my daily macros but I need to eat a little more today to get to my 1300 calorie goal and I will definitely go over my fat and protein macros with whatever I eat next

Getting more serious with MFP
Hi all! I've been on MFP for a while but never came on these forums. I've lost 11lbs since I started my fitness journey, and I'm going to start buckling down as I did get lazy for a bit, but I've fixed my goals and plan to work harder than I was before to get down to 140. Recently bought a food scale so I can know for sure…
