Has anyone noticed (or not noticed) that after a nap...
You're not hungry or not as hungry as you'd expect to be if you didn't have the nap?

Research: gut bacteria transplant for obese teens can help metabolic syndrome, no weight loss though
I've been following this slow-burning story for a while, whether bacteria transplants can help people lose weight like it happens in mice. This study says 'no', but if you are a teen with metabolic syndrome it can help there. You can read about one of the participants here…

Looking for a weight loss buddy
I'm interested in finding someone where we can message each other about our weight loss, I have about 30 kilograms to lose, how much you have to lose doesn't have to be the same, just I'm looking for someone who can message regularly. I'll be using diet and exercise to lose weight. Please add me if you're interested.

Anyone else do this?
See an old music video of a performer or group, celebrity or actor/actress. Look them up on Google Images and see if they've gained weight 20-30 years later?

Great news everyone: no more arguing over BMI
Amazon has a fitness service called Halo which includes an ability to estimate your body fat using a smartphone app and analysis of the images. This service costs money but I expect free apps to appear within 5 years. They'll analyse the images inside the phone and not need to send data to a data centre. BMI will become…

Are video analysis exercise apps a thing yet?
A while ago I saw a demonstration of an app which would use the smartphone camera to watch a person exercise, and count push ups, and a few other forms of exercise. Kind of like the Xbox Kinect. I haven't seen anything since then, have they caught on?

Never lose the same kilogram twice challenge
The way this challenge works is you weigh yourself regularly, although daily is not necessary. If you use pounds you can just imagine the name of the challenge is "never lose the same two pounds twice". Basically, the idea of the challenge is although weight fluctuations are fine, your average can't increase by one…

If you have scale anxiety, how would you feel about a scale with no display?
I read about these now and then. For people with anxiety when they step on the scale, there is no display. They connect with your phone using WiFi or Bluetooth. You can find out your weight or just a general "your weight is stable", "you're slowly gaining" etc. Or you can ignore it and it won't tell you anything. Cost…

Do you think that personality has an effect on weight loss success?
I do because I think that I am highly motivated towards weight loss (I've been at goal weight 5 times, yo-yoed nearly 300 kg) however I have a habit of half-donkeying* things. Maybe successful weight losers have a special personality which makes them highly motivated and experienced at completing tasks, hence they reach…

I was thinking of starting one in the Challenges forum. It's a pretty simple idea, you post your starting weight, then regular updates, ideally weekly.
