What food group is a salad dressing?
Legitimate question for you friends - I'm doing a new chart of food groups so I can keep my carb instances down. I have my meals [breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack] broken down into meat [or protein, so nuts and eggs would be included here], veggies, fruits, dairy, carbs [bread or gluten-based carbs]. I also have a…

The fitness training gross body guide
I'm starting this thread because I don't really see too many threads (none) on the things we all experience in the gym but don't like to talk about...the gross side of our wonderful, capable bodies. Feel free to post your questions or advice to this thread. I'll get us started! So, today's cringe-worthy topic is calluses!…

OUCH! Aching shins
I am sure that several of you have probably posted about this before, but... I just wanted a general idea. So I've generally been an active person for most of my life. I lost about 30 pounds the first time I signed up about three years ago - then, because of lifestyle changes and just poor eating habits and mega-amounts of…

Great alternative for salad dressings!!!
Just thought I'd pass this along. I LOVE eating salads but hate the extra calories on dressings. I just tried the Wishbone brand Salad Spritzers and am very happy I did! One spray essentially equals one calorie. I had two cups of salad with tomatoes and only needed ten sprays for even coverage. The salad tasted great!…

The Injury Report
Hey all! Because recounting and comparing your injuries over the seasons seems to be a great way to pass the time on the chairlift, I thought I'd start a topic on it. So please, share away! Here is my current injury report: Especially since my left leg is currently displaying every color it is possible to display - reds,…

It's only a number!
This is not my photo, nor is it my scale. But I found it profound enough to pass forward.

HRM question.
Has anyone used their HRM calorie chronometer all day to simply see how many calories they expend just going about a normal day sans exercise? I'm truly curious how much I "burn" during a day at work [I'm not sedentary.] I don't think the information would change how I see my calorie goal for the day, but it would be…

Low-cal peanut butter recommendations
Does anyone know of a low calorie peanut butter that still tastes decent? I just looked at the peanut butter we have and couldn't believe the 190 calories for two tablespoons. I have no idea if I actually put that on my pb&j, but I wanted to know if there were other options out there. Thanks!

Coconut Oil benefits?
I'm sure it's been discussed before, so I apologize if this is a double post. I'm just curious if anyone else uses coconut oil as a supplement. I've thought about using it and have researched the benefits of it. If anyone would like to weigh in, feel free. Thanks.

Needed to get this off my chest
"So after putting everything into my fitness calorie counter, and being brutally honest about it all, I ended up with some 1900 calories…Whether that’s an honest over-estimation on my part doesn’t matter. What matters is I have a guilt so crushing it’s insane. I’m at the point where I want to turn around and wish today had…

Food Bloating
How come, when I wake up in the morning, my stomach is flat, but by the end of the day it's not, no matter how little I've eaten? I know we all joke about "food babies". I've heard lots of theories, linked to high fiber, highs odium...etc. But I can bloat off of an apple. Is it just the ill effects of gravity and our…

How do I log vacation walking hours?
MFPers.....I'm going to New York in a couple of days, and will be walking EVERYWHERE! [We're taking the train in so we won't even have a car.] How am I even supposed to account for all of the walking I will be doing? It will be scattered throughout an entire day in sporadic amounts...I need ideas! I'm still going to do my…

Guesstimating Local Eatery Foods??
Sorry if this has been posted before. I'm supposed to attend a company dinner at a local eatery in town that only has one location. I checked their Web site and there is no nutritional information for any of their foods. How do I account for anything I would eat without having even a comparable product from another…

Need motivation?? Read this!
I have indefinitely suspended my MAKE EXCUSES program. I have uninstalled my ACCEPT LIMITS application. I have upgraded my WEAKNESS settings to STRENGTH OF MIND and BODY. I will not TIME OUT on my journey. I have completely refabricated my CAN DO attitude. I have activated my NEVER GIVE UP subscription service. I have…

Lower Abdominal Cramps when running
Well this is a new phenomenon - about ten minutes into my sustained run I receive these nasty lower abdominal cramps [for ladies, they feel a LOT like menstrual cramps.] They are painful and today made me feel nauseous. I had to slow down to a walk for three minutes because I couldn't make it through the pain and they…

Low low calorie deficits but over on fat....?
Okay, so I have lately been posting extremely high calorie deficits daily [600-900] thanks to exercise and calorie control, and I'm extremely proud of this. But I have noticed that I go over on my fats and often proteins almost every day. I work out between 3 and 6 times a week and mix a lot of cardio and strength…

Ideas to prevent chafing?
I wear compression shorts and STILL have issues with inner thigh chafing, especially during jogging because I run with my legs really close together. What are your methods for preventing this unsightly, painful rash? Thanks for reading my post.

What is your daily calorie burn target?
I'm just curious to see what everyone else's goals for daily calorie burns are. I generally reach a 200-300 calorie cardio burn [not including the strength training I do] and have sometimes felt disappointed because that is all I've managed in 25-30 minutes of straight cardio, but I don't know how to increase it without…

Just an introduction.
I'm almost a full month in on this Web site and I've peeked at a few posts here and there, but figured I should officially introduce myself before I comment on anything. I'm definitely not new to weight loss and control, but I've never used a Web site such as this to help me keep track. I'm going through a rough time in my…

My daily calorie goal seems pretty high, but maybe I don't k
Hey all. When I signed up for the Web site and put in my information, initially I put that I was pretty active but thought the listed caloric goal for the day was way too high. The only way I could seriously eat that many calories would be to eat Taco Bell and McDonald's every day, and we all know how THAT would end up. So…
