What encourages you to succeed?
Would like to know what your driving force is to lose weight. I'm in the earlier stages of my new weight loss journey, so I would love advice and support. I'm 30, 275# at 5'9" and not interested in being overweight anymore. I want to respect my body more than i have in the past 5 years, when I gained over 100#,…

Staying Focused
How do you maintain your focus during your WL journey? I worry that I'll let the bottom fall out and lose sight of my goal and pack the pounds back on. I'm trying to take it one day at a time! Any advice for how you stay disciplined would be useful.

Meal Planning
Do any of you meal plan, and if so, what is your strategy? I'm trying to figure out a way to plan meals in advance because I think that will help me from making impulsive eating choices, or that's the hope. This means I would make some meals in advance on, say, a Sunday evening so I have food for the week all ready to go…

Weight fluctuations on your period
Ugh. This may be too much information, but I supposedly gained 5 pounds (FIVE) in the last two days. I think the reason I supposedly gained the weight is because I just started my period...Do any other females here experience menstrual cycle weight fluctuations?

Is it safe to lose >2 pounds/week?
I see a lot of people on MFP are on 1200 calorie diets, but I'm currently on a 1450 calorie diet and considering switching to the 1200. The only thing is, that would be more than a 2 pound weight loss per week, for me. I've gradually been eating fewer calories as the days pass until I think I could reasonably sustain…

Who has 100+ lbs to Lose?
Looking for individuals to become my MFP friends who are on their way to becoming lean, mean, clean-eating machines! I'm on my way, with 25 lbs lost (go me!) and I'd like some other friends who are also in the midst of a lifestyle change to hit me up. :) You can also read my weight loss blog, hit me up for the link because…

Depressed about my starting weight.
I hopped on the scale for the first time in ages and I'm super depressed about the number. I joined the site a few weeks ago and didn't weigh myself because I was afraid what the numbers would say. Turns out I was right to be afraid because I was 20 pounds heavier than I thought I would be, at 240 pounds. I'm super…

Family Crisis, hard to stay motivated about diet/exercise
Just found out this week that my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, so it's been difficult to be motivated about sticking with the program and tracking when my mind is elsewhere. Anyone have advice on how to keep from emotional eating? Sidenote: I never considered myself an emotional eater, but I think it's more…

Weight Watchers vs. My Fitness Pal
I just joined Weight Watchers, but to me, I think MFP might be more helpful. When I see I have 500 calories left to eat in a day in my daily "calorie budget," I have an idea of how much that is. But when it tells me I have X points left in the day to eat, I'm clueless. The points plus system is driving me crazy. The…

Who has benefited from a personal trainer?
I'm considering signing up for personal training at the gym. I'm not a fan of exercising, and usually I just hop on the cardio machines because I don't want to look like an idiot (mis)using the equipment or lifting improperly, but I know lifting is important to get the body of my *dreams,* haha. So I'm curious - who's done…

Why do people lose weight for the wrong reasons?
I'm thinking about those people who think they need to drop pounds just to fit in a smaller sized wedding dress or they do it for anybody other than themselves. Seems stupid and self-defeating, you should lose weight just for yourself and to make a lifestyle change. Thoughts?

Does anybody else own a Nutribullet?
I have a Nutribullet, it's basically a glorified blender, but I like it. I was wondering if anybody else uses one. If you take a look at my diary, that's how I green, leafy veggies into my diet because otherwise I wouldn't be the biggest vegetable lover other than the starchy ones like corn and potatoes. If anybody has…

Workout DVDs or gym classes?
Does anybody use any workout DVDs which are effective? I've tried doing some Spark People Pilates with their YouTube videos and found them pretty enjoyable. Obviously it'd be preferable to go to do a live class, but sometimes I worry I'll be the fattest person in the class, which I know isn't a good reason but there ya go.…

Coconut water?
I use coconut water in my green smoothies, but I'm curious what people think about it. I know juice is essentially sugar water so I avoid it, but I think (hope) coconut water isn't just empty calories. Thoughts?

What type of scale/non-scale goals do you set for yourself?
I just weighed myself yesterday even though I've been an active MFP user for a few weeks now, because I figured it was important to get a starting weight, even though I have a love/hate relationship with the scale. I also took some starting body measurements (bust, waist, hips, thigh). What goals have you set for yourself…

Who else have a hard time w/ diet this holiday weekend?
Went over my calorie goal yesterday and today and feeling lousy about it. Not by a TON, but I'm still bummed about it. Anybody else think it'll be easier to get back on track when the Thanksgiving weekend is over (I'm referring to US users)?
