When does a wrist based Fitbit count steps
I wear a Fitbit One on my bra...I would like to upgrade to a Charge 2 HR...when wearing a wrist based Fitbit does it count the steps you do when you are holding on to something such as a grocery cart, buggy, dog leash, etc., where your wrist is basically still...I would hate for all the steps I do in say Costco not to…

Fitbit Charge disappointment
Am I the only one who dislikes the way the Fitbit Charge looks and feels on your arm? I was so excited to find one in a store today but after taking it home, spending a frustrating 20 minutes trying to secure the clasp with my arthritic hands, I really dislike how it looks and feels. Its going back to the store tomorrow.

Sedentary or active
I have my activity level set to sedentary and have recently enabled the negative calorie option on MFP. Over a period of a few weeks I have been surprised by how many steps I had to take before I would even start to earn any credit for activity. I start the day with something like a negative 150 calories on average. Then…

FITBIT vs. STRIIV?
Has anyone used both? I think that the STRIIV is fairly new so maybe people don't have a lot of experience with it yet. I am thinking of buying one or the other and I don't know how to make the decision. They both cost the same so I can't even use that as a deciding factor. Does anyone have any comments that might be…

Calories burned during C25K session?
Attention all C25K'ers. I'm trying to get an idea of how many calories I should be burning with each of my C25 sessions. I know we are all different but I should be able to get a ballpark figure to see how I am doing. I am 5' 5". weight is 188.5, I'm 64 years old. Last night I did Week 4, Day 2 and according to my HRM I…

EZ curl bar weight?
Can anyone tell me how much an EZ Curl bar on its' own weighs? I'm just starting to develop a beginning lift program for myself and I am finding out just how weak my arms are! I have an EZ Curl bar and a lot of weight plates but I need to start off small. Thanks for any input on the weight of this bar.

Calories burned?
Just fiished Week 4 Day 2 last night. According to my HRM I burned 224 calories. I am 5'5", weigh 188.5, and am 64 years old. Would you mind sharing with me how many calories you burn when you do your C25K session? I would like to get an idea if I am in the ballpark, and if my HRM is correct. Thanks!

Fitbit use in Canada
I was just looking at the online manual for Fitbit. Where you sign in it gives you a choice of login location; the two choices are United Kingdom and the United States. Does this mean that the Fitbit can not be used in Canada? I was planning to go down to the States this weekend to purchase one since they aren't available…

Too old to learn to run?
I would like your opinion...I am 64 years old, have been changing my lifestyle since the beginning of the year, and have lost 52 pounds. I try to walk further and further every day. For the past couple of months I have been ending my walks by doing a little jogging behind my house (where no one can see me) and while I…

Non scale victory
My normal power walk has not been burning as many calories lately...I guess as you get fitter your body doesn't have to work as hard. What use to take 45 minutes, today only took 25, so I decided to add some jogging to it. Now bear in mind, I am 64 years old, current weight is 215, have COPD and RA, have never jogged in my…

HEYBALES thank you!
I couple of weeks ago I was discouraged, my weight loss had slowed to a crawl, and then came the week when I posted a GAIN! While I was lamenting this on a thread one night you suggested I wasn't eating enough and that I should up my calories. You also suggested that I do it over a two week period. I did just what you…

Old lady among the young gym bunnies!
Well, it is a good thing that I don't intimidate easily...went to the gym today and decided to do a little more than just use the pool, hot tub, and sauna. So I walk out into the actual women's only exercise area with my mismatched workout clothes, my towel and water bottle...and what awaits me but a bevy of very young,…

Sore knee - how do I keep up with my cardio?
I have been doing a fair bit of cardio the past few weeks. I do either 40 minute fast walking outside, 30 - 40 minutes on the treadmill, or 30 minutes on my elliptical. This week I have been pushing myself harder e.g. increasing the incline and speed on the treadmill and sometimes doing two sessions a day. I've also been…

HRM watch Vs chest strap question
This may be a very dumb question, but I will ask it anyway. I recently purchased a Sportline Duo HRM. It has the watch with an optional chest strap. I have only been using the watch part. My question is will the heart rate and calorie burn be as accurate as if I had worn the chest strap? I don't quite understand how the…

30 DS - diminishing calorie burn?
I am on day 4 of the 30 DS. I wear a HRM while I am doing it. I feel like I am giving it just as much effort each day, and my sweat is sure crying by the end of it, but what I have noticed is that each day my HRM shows less and less calories burned. Has anyone else noticed this? What would be the cause of this? In only 4…

New HRM inspires me!
I bought a HRM this weekend and today was the first time I used it during my outside walk. Just knowing when I was in my "Fat burning zone" propelled me to pick it up when I started to slow down. I've been doing the same walk most days since I joined MFP, it usually takes me 40 minutes...today, I covered the same ground in…

My 1st 30DS session!
Wow...let me tell you, my sweat was crying! I can't remember the last time I sweat like that. I wore my HRM and it says that I burned 196 calories in the 30 minute session. I was in my "Fat Burn zone" for 25 minutes and exceeded that zone for 3 minutes. My plan is to do level one Monday - Friday and then take Saturday and…

Should I add more B vitamins?
For the first time in my life I am taking a daily multi-vitamin/mineral supplement. I take Centrum Forte, one a day. Someone told me I should be adding more of the 'B' vitamins if I am trying to lose weight. I checked on line and, for what it's worth, my multivitamin meets, and in some cases slightly exceeds, the…

Note to self!
Check the nutrition information BEFORE one indulges in a new food. I went to a well known coffee shop with a friend today, I'm not a coffee drinker and never go to this cafe so I was unsure what to order. I ended up with a small raisin bran muffin and a bottle of water. I was quite proud of myself...how could that small…
